Comparing two cool reds: quinacridone magenta and alizarin crimson hue acrylic paint

There are two very popular choices for the cool red on your palette, and I’m going to do a quick comparison of the two to see a few of the colours you can mix. I’m testing out alizarin crimson hue and quinacridone magenta.

Hi - I love your series on 2-color comparisons. After watching the comparison,
I did a little research on the Golden website and was interested to find that the reason Alizarin CrimsonHue to be so much more muted than Quin. magenta is because the Alizarin Hue is not a single pigment color. It contains PR206 / PR122 / PG7- i.e. Quin. Maroon/Quin. Magenta and Phthalo Green . I think, myself, I would use the Quin. Magenta and de-saturate the color myself with it's complements. Thank you again for taking the time and sharing your inquiries into color - you are helping me to created a better basic palette.

really enjoying this little mini-series. Can you please do a review on Sap Green, Hookers Green Vs Phthalo Green? I'm not a fan of the last green, but people insist it is a vital base color to have in your palette.

I have a few other videos in the works and then I’m planning to look at greens. I started using phthalo green earlier this year after I learned one tip. It’s really useful when you’ve accidentally mixed a really muddy colour and want to bring it back to being a green instead of a brown.
