I used to be married to a surgeon ... in surgery they (apparently) have a mantra/warning: Perfection is the enemy of good. I have been here for a few weeks. Loving your videos, and I do NOT need, nor want, you to be perfect. Thank you for ALL the enjoyment.
Morning...in America. 😊 Love this video..for its openness and honesty. I laugh every time I see Olav's face with that expression like 'Again? Get that camera out of my face.😬' Seriously, I envy your commitment to your dreams and following through to actually live them. You couldn't have picked a better place to achieve your goals. Have a happy day...😊
Merci . Such an interesting life and career you have had and now enjoying the slow, sustainable and sweet life. I truly enjoy your videos and love seeing parts of the countryside. I love all things French and just adore the insight you give each time. Blessings and love from Australia to you and yours. 🍾🥂🌟
Hello. I am a fellow Aussie. Grannie Cyndy from South Australia. Like you, love this channel and all things French. Great to meet you here. God bless you.
Currently watching you now, Justin and I, and it’s more wonderful learning more about you and your family. Thank you for sharing another wonderful video with us. ❤❤
Bravo! You did a great job. I usually won't watch the Q & A episodes. They are usually very boring. Yours was very interesting and informative. Love your channel so much. Thank you.
You’re an incredible person. You and Olaf are lucky to have each other. We all can’t wait to see what you share with us next. Sharing the contents of your heart in the video is a treasure for all us to ponder and cherish.
Greetings from New Hampshire. Very interesting about the French language. I had a wonderful French teacher that reminded us of the formal and informal and what to use when. Beautiful countryside where you are. Thank you.
Marloes, My wife and I are thoroughly enjoying your videos of the French Country Life. You come across as a humble sharing person that loves what you do. Please do not let anyone discourage you from doing what you love and we love.
I’m glad I’m not the only one overwhelmed with the technical aspects of a camera! Haha! I often think I’ll take a class but I never do because there is to much to learn and understand.
Merci to you, Marlos. Now I truly understand why you do this work, you do bring me joy and a peacefulness when I watch! I lost track of time listening until you mentioned the time towards the end of this video. I look forward to the next segment, if there is one.
I love what you said about olaf.. " he's the builder of our dreams" that resonated so deeply with me.. the honor and respect you show ... Im single but it just reinforces to me how important it is who you align yourself with, who you choose to do life with.. it can completely change the trajectory of your life for the good or the bad... 🕊️🕊️🕊️
I believe you have an innate talent in communication, decor and photography and you use all to great advantage. We are the beneficiaries of your talents. I especially love your eye in filming the countryside and would happily just watch your travels. Your decorating skill is an art in itself and I love when you go to a Brochante I can sometimes know what you will find useful. Anyway your blog is a total joy to watch. ❤
Really enjoyed this vlog! We moved from Canada to Chile with my two children, who were 7 and 10 at the time, and they knew almost no Spanish at the time. I was almost fluent. I was amazed at how incredibly quickly my kids learned the language -- and all the nuances -- within 3 months they were fluent for their age levels! We arrived in summer so had some time for them to adjust before school started. This proved to be very helpful. I loved hearing of your experience and would love to hear more about how your boys are doing, how they've adjusted, etc. Keep up the good work! I find your vlogs both fascinating and calming, and we all could use some peace and calm in our lives.
Thanks! Yes our boys learned to speak French extremely quickly and since their first year they’re actually both the best in their class in French, years in a row 🤯
I like your videos and content, that's important for me. You are authentic, natural and all the technical stuff will deviate from your freshness and down to earth experiences. I appreciate it.😍 Hi from Vienna Austria 🌺🌻🌸🌺😊
Enjoyable q&a thankyou. I agree that perfection can get in the way of joy (you come out with pearls of wisdom 🙂). Your vlogs are a highlight, and as we can’t visit our little hose in France this year, they give me moments of peace and joy x
Marloes...thank you for your transparency and giving us a snippet into your past life and where you are now. Apple could definitely use you as an organic spokesperson for the iPhone because the video quality of your vlog is tremendous. I cannot imagine a better backdrop than the vineyards near Beaune for a Q&A session - and your pretty yellow dress? Perfect. Thank you as always Marloes. A bientot!
Merci pour ce partage, et merci pour votre authenticité! Vos vidéos sont magnifiques et spontanées et ça se ressent beaucoup! Je vous encourage et vous envoie une bise du Vaucluse. Amicalement. Linda
Loved your video❤ I feel we got to know more about you and your past life, I love how natural you are, it's like hanging out with a best friend, you are an amazing woman with an amazing family. Keep well and pace yourself, ( health , really is wealth) love and hugs from Ireland❤ ❤❤❤
Bonjour Marloes, yours is an interesting story, thanks for sharing it. This year's harvest is looking very good. We love the idea of your lovely home potentially becoming multi-generational. We retired to Europe and as we don't have kids that's not an option for us. But we've been thinking about the merits of one day creating a small community of like minded people who can't stand the prospect of ever moving into age care. The idea would be to purchase together a small chateau in France or Villa in Italy to create our very own version of 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'..... Best wishes Maria e Rowan
Yes that is the kind of idea I would look at too! It is done in many places, and the community hires professional medical in house staff. It may not be for everyone but it's definitely a better option for many than a retirement home.
Yes it will be for a certain market but I expect baby boomers and others will be looking for different choices. Yes shared services like medical, housekeeping, gardening etc. I'm thinking there may be some natural communities of interest. For example lovers of music, art, food & wine etc. Feel free to pass on any examples you come across. Cheers @@FrenchCountryLife
Of all the things you've done, what you are becoming is a very very good videographer. Regardless of your equipment your videos are a real pleasure to watch because of YOUR eye and YOUR editing. Some of the topics are not that interesting to me (brocante, aargh) but YOUR way makes watching interesting. Started watching because of the building & remodeling and have become "hooked" on your videos and France regardless of the topic. Tell Olav his videos are even more appreciated with the English CC.
Haha! But you do like seeing to occasional old tool when I go to Emmaüs I guess? Olav wants a new table saw and he saw one at our Emmaüs! He was all excited until he noticed it had a US plug and US voltage… he googled to see how much it would cost to transform it but it would be too expensive unfortunately…
Okay I'll give you that. With all the things you've got going, I can't believe you remembered, wow! With all the stuff Olav is doing he needs (deserves) a good tablesaw, doesn't Bosch sponsor him? A huge part of doing that kind of work is working with good tools, kind of fun too.@@FrenchCountryLife
Bonjour! For us, the French language is easier to re-learn because we had it in school, so glad we had it a couple of years back then 😀 Now we are learning and studying it every day. Having the radio on or watch French youtube video's or films also works really great. Some younger french people also try to speak English, so with a combination of both we can understand each other 😅
Yes I find watching tv or TH-cam where “normal every day French” is spoken to be the best way to learn! Immerse yourself in the language… that’s the best way!
That awesome to hear and good luck re-learning ❤️ . I took 3yrs in HS and 2yrs in college, that was 27yrs ago. I'm very sad that I've forgotten so much and spent 6yrs learning . Ytube videos are useless to me , they teach cute saying . I'm going back to take a college level proper French grammar and language structure, I really feel is the best ❤️
Amazing story Marloes so many of us don’t know how or when to reset or change track..you should maybe start another You Tube channel 😊… ps I learned more French in two months in France than five years at school!
Dear, I love your videos. Why did you pick France over Italy(if even that was a consderation)? Both are incredible places....is it because you know French?
We were both drawn to France although I really like Italy as well. I studied French so it was logical but more importantly we bought this house as a holiday home (and kind of accidentally ended up living here permanently) so we wanted to buy a house somewhere that was maximum 7 hours drive from where we lived in the Netherlands. Italy is twice as long a drive!
@@FrenchCountryLife Ah, that makes sense. I love both places but my son has citizenship in France (from his dad). I hope to meet you someday whether I rent one of your places or buy a place of my own...you're a beautiful soul...Aloha from Hawaii.
In the Netherlands English is a second language because it belongs, like Dutch, to the same family of Germanic languages. But French belongs to the family of Romance languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Romanian. English is not spoken in France! There are more languages in France: Alsatian, Breton, Basque, Corsican, Catalan, Occitan, …
Thanks for sharing! The Netherlands actually officially have two languages as well, although English isn't one of them. English isn't spoken in The Netherlands, but a lot of people speak English because we know no one in the world will ever speak Dutch so we need to speak English. However The Netherlands has a second official language, next to Dutch: Frysian. Only spoken in the province of Friesland in the north! Like the Basque, Breton etc it is an official language! I love this kind of diversity. It's also what I appreciate about France. Staying true to the heritage by keeping the languages alive!
I used to be married to a surgeon ... in surgery they (apparently) have a mantra/warning: Perfection is the enemy of good.

Au delà de votre étude de la langue, vous étiez sans doute douée de naissance car votre français est quasi parfait. Impressionnant, même 🙂
