Rival Marriage thing was sorta a deal breaker for me too tbh :/ I hope they add it as a DLC or something in the future.....
****edit**** I procrastinated my homework by looking at Japanese forums to see why rival marriages are controversial in Japan, and the reasons were so interesting that I wanted to share them with everyone (some of which others have mentioned):
① Some people felt bad breaking up "cannon" pairings or letting one person (the rival of the person they married) be alone for the rest of the game
② Other people (allegedly male fans) thought something along the lines of "even though I may marry someone else, that doesn't mean the girls I'm interested in (the person they married before esp) should be allowed to marry other people!"
③ Rival marriages made players feel rushed and like they couldn't take their time or otherwise made them feel stressed
④ Some people HATED the cannon pairings and apparently even bullied/ bashed the girls they hated (allegedly female fans). These hated pairings included GreyXMary and especially MayaXChase! According to one person, the Maya bashing was so bad that that was why rival marriages were taken out (but might not be true).
I wasted hours on this and found it interesting so wanted to share with English speaking players haha

Peebs, my wife and I met ourselves through Harvest Moon as well! In our case, I wrote a fanfic way back in the day and she emailed me, we started talking, and ended up long-distance dating for about 5 years before we got married.
And now we're going to be celebrating our 12 year marriage anniversary this year. It's crazy how something so simple, like making a video or a fanfic can lead to a life changing forever.

Rune factory and the, previous, harvest moon games were tied together. Someone said the reason we, the Player, could see the harvest goddess and sprites was because we're the descendants of earth mates.

Natsume is working on a new HM game, honestly it looks really good. It’s supposed to be more of an open world type thing (or as open as a farming game can be I guess). It’s called One World, it’ll be out in fall. Let’s hope they don’t mess this one up too.
@@Borborb Went to check out the trailer for One World and it genuinely looks terrible. It looks like a half-assed Steam game. The world is empty, all of the textures are low-res and repeat egregiously like it was made for the PS2. My big gripe with this remake of Friends of Mineral Town was that it's too "chibi" and looks like a DS game, but at least it looks like a _polished_ DS game. Can't say as much for One World. Yeesh.
I have extremely nostalgic memories of Natsume's Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility and I still play it like once a week 🥺 It's 2008 so I forgive its bad quality but have their games not gotten any better??
@@auderotter Natsume was just Tree of Tranquility's localizer, Marvelous is the company who actually created the game. Marvelous develops the Story of Season/Harvest Moon games but they had to change the name because Xseed translates the games now. Natsume now developes their own games using the Harvest Moon title they have copyright over, but they're not good.
Any Harvest Moon game released after A New Beginning is not made by Marvelous.

Every year Rick probably sees Popuri so excited leading up to Summer than so sad after and he probably thinks Kai is selfish and doesnt care who he hurts by the coming/going but every year Rick watches his sister get hurt by it. Honestly it's a little sweet I just wish they worked that angle a little more obviously rather than just making Rick seem so obsessive about it ya know

What I love about these Harvest Moon videos (along with Animal Crossing) is the running gag of killing somebody with a sharp tool, usually an axe (in this case, a scythe)

Now I want a remake of A Wonderful Life. That was my first HM game, and I absolutely loved it. Celia was my first gay crush, she was so cute! The social aspect is why I was so obsessed with getting It's A Wonderful Life. I read about it in Nintendo Power and it was SO unique that I was willing to farm in a video game

Can't believe the first ever pbg video I watched was from 10 years ago! How time flies! I was obsessed with HM as a kid. Watching him talk about the remake and being hilarious AF as always makes me feel all kinds of nostalgia
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town was actually one of my first GBA games so big nostalgia man.
You can't believe how excited I get when you upload one of these, although I wasn't born yet to see many harvest moon games I at least had Animal Parade and Tree of Tranquillity, and I sure love the franchise!

I love harvest moon, although I personally love Rune Factory more. I’ve always loved fantasy settings, and the world is so interesting I love it. 4 would be my favorite game of all time if the random events weren’t impossible to start.

I'm absolutely loving the remake, More Friends of Mineral Town was my first Harvest Moon game and I never stopped playing. A lot of the characters new looks throw me off but I like them enough. With the addition of being able to marry the girls I can't decide, I've always loved Cliff and Kai but now I can marry Ann and the Harvest Goddess lol.
You should try marrying the Harvest Goddess and then Kappa. They are hard to get as you only have one chance to make it eventually happen.
