Seriously though, they should keep them up. There is no reason to take it down. They should just combine the switch eschop with the 3ds and Wii U ones
@@youtubemotivationmastery servers and storage cost money, sadly. And with the Switch eshop getting so much added all the time, they need to reallocate storage to that.
I do wish they could at least keep the VC games available, though, but I doubt they are selling enough nowadays to make it worth keeping them.

I'm a 3ds eShop dev and I really appreciate any coverage of these titles. Hoping every single one of them can be saved, even if the quality isn't always there XD. Somewhat mixed feelings about Harold's Walk not being on here, I suppose that's a good thing

@@Valstrax420 It'd be nice if some were easier to find and then actually play, of course. I have no idea how to run lost WiiWare titles, for instance, let alone find them.
From an archival standpoint, Peebs is so right. All the big games have already been dumped, and illegal copies will remain in circulation for a long time (a la Nosferatu).
But all these games have a very real chance of being lost forever. Most won't be missed, but it's terrible (and kind of scary) to think how easily things can be lost. And I'm sure there's a few hidden gems that won't be saved.
Specifically, I recommend the localized Guild 01 and Guild 02 games. They're pretty cheap and while they're short and simple, i really enjoyed Crimson Shroud and The Starship Damrey. Just don't expect too much, the Guild series WAS compilation games.
The time they'll be lost for good is further away than we think. Apparently, the Eshop's only stopping purchases for now, you'll be able to redownload the stuff you've already bought just fine.
Gaming preservation is a needed thing. The older I get the more I appreciate the older games that may just poof forever. While kicking childhood me for getting rid of some..
What do you mean "illegal copies"? Dumping your legally owned game cartridge or CD is entirely legal.
Nobody whined about that for PS3.

"Archery" was clearly made in Unity and as someone who studies game design and uses Unity for prototyping, I can safely say some of my prototypes are already higher quality than that. I guess that's pretty comforting, at least?

The Letter game actually gives me a troll idea to just make a horror game with all the horror game elements, such as dark environments and barely any light and random bloodstains but at the end you find out there's literally no danger
I bought that game so long ago… I never played it. It only cost me $1 though…

There is a Slender ripoff game that does that. All the marks of a horror game and the obvious Slenderman threat, but just no actual danger at all.

Made me think of What Remains Of Edith Finch, that while not being a horror game specifically, did make you feel like something could happen while looking around a spooky abandoned house in the middle of a forest. In broad daylight, though.
It's probably my favourite of the "walking simulator" games that were all the rage a few years back.
Oh god, hearing that the shops are closing is a gut punch to my nostalgia. It makes me sad to hear about that, but at least we can laugh about all the bad games before it's gone for good

I actually got scared the first time I played The Letter. I started the second level and saw the red eyes staring back at me and assumed it was an NPC that would chase me around. As it turns out, I gave the developer too much credit and the red eyes just disappear when you get close and that's it.

I've been following Peebs for a loooong time and never expected to see him play a game I actually worked on 😂 ("I Love My Little Boy" and yes, the name of the game raised eyebrows internally).
If you're wondering why it looks like Nintendogs, it's because this is a sequel to a game called "I Love My Dogs" and reused a good chunk of that game's minigames.
Can you answer definitively if the avatar was actually modeled after Peebs? Lol
There's this really creepy game on 3ds called "Harold's Walk" it's one of the cheapest game on the eshop and it gives me a weird vibe
Looked it up, I wouldn't say it's creepy (unless there's more than meets the eye), but it's definitely weird. It's also a recent release, came out in 2020.
And there is a sequel that is even better
When they said the Eshop was closing down, I was devastated to see so many good games on their way to being unavailable. Knowing that for every good game there's 10 bad ones, this makes me feel somewhat better about the situation.

The yo kai watch series is essentially going to be completely dead/unavailable unless you pay 300 dollars for the hard versions lol RIP really loved the series

Those games aren't lost, the roms have been dumped. Even most of the terrible ones will be preserved.
Apparently you'll still be able to redownload the games you've already bought "for the forseeable future" from the Wii U and 3DS Eshops, so it's not too bad.
Your gratuitous amount of wii sports resort sounds and effects just makes me want to play that game again.... and is 100% what i would be spending my time doing if I had a TH-cam channel lmao

I remember going to my cousin’s one day and discovering that he had this game called The Letter that intrigued me. Then he told me he got it on sale for literally 1 cent and I knew I had to play it.
That is probably the weirdest experience I’ve had playing a game aside from the helicopter level in DMC2. I didn’t even buy the game and I felt ripped off. He apparently messaged someone about the game and they said if he feels ripped off paying 1 cent for it, this guy got it when it used to be 3 cents.

18:11 Fun fact about Little Sheep, It's the only Unity game to be developed for both old and "New" 3ds models.
From a technical standpoint, people always wondered why Unity games were exclusive to New 3ds and the answer to that is that it's due to memory restrictions. Unity itself uses up 3/4ths of the original 3ds memory and as such, if you wanted to make a game using Unity with those restrictions, it ideally would have to be a game with the same level of detail as Little Sheep. The game itself isn't bad but it does get very repetitive after a while. A cool little game nonetheless.

Y'know, that last game about running so fast that you splat against trees kinda makes a tiny bit of sense after having watched some old movie called Dead Snow. It was practically a comedy with how cheesy it was as a horror movie, but there was definitely a plot point where a character essentially wasn't looking where they were running out of sheer panic and ended up exposing their intestines after running into a low hanging broken tree branch. Running into things at full speed is sure to hurt, regardless of what it is.
Yeah, same thing happened in this one movie called "Tucker and Dale vs Evil", wherein some dumb college students go into the woods and are so paranoid about the main characters who are hillbilly types, that one of them gets scared enough to run into a tree and impale themselves. At which point the rest of the college kids believe Tucker and Dale are horror movie villains, while Tucker and Dale think that the kids came to the woods as a suicide pact. So, the movie is the kids trying to defeat them while they are trying to protect the kids from themselves. Funny horror comedy I'd recommend (though there is gore for those that might be squeamish).

It's called the UV Mapping! You can think of it like when you made cubes out of paper in primary school, or how maps of the world work. In order to add textures to an object properly, you need to flatten it out onto a 2d Map and draw on that, then stick it back onto the object; somehow they managed to mess up the map during painting, so it didn't go back onto the object right.
I'm actually learning how to do this right now in my classes. Even as a first year inexperienced student I'm certain I could do better than that. Yikes.

This video proofs one thing. Nintendo doesn't check what is released into the e-shop 😂. Aweseome video PBG
They actually do care about some specific details. Things like making a proper owner's manual and correctly working with parental controls are a must with Nintendo. You also can't do anything that would melt performance, like really long storage read/writes. There's a reason all games on the console have some kind of "Saving..." indicator if it takes more than half a second. However, as proven by my own work of art, Operation COBRA, they do not care if the game itself sucks.

EVERY time I take a sip of water while watching this I'm gambling on whether the next few seconds will cause me to spit it out laughing.
Some of my friends have known about Operation Cobra for a while now and we are pretty convinced it is somehow mining bitcoin on our 3ds or something. That is the only explanation we can come up with for why it lags so horribly when it is on a system that can handle monster hunter and smash bros.
I built the game, I'll tell you why it's so laggy. The gun model I used in the game has a ridiculous amount of polygons, it's a model that should be used in a higher end PC game. That model alone is using most of the memory of the 3DS and I'd have to estimate 60% of the time spent drawing each frame. I was going to release a patch for the game and make it not terrible, but I accidentally deleted the code 🙃

The lion's messed up texture from the archery game is called messed up UV mapping.
in a nutshell, you have your 3d model and lay it flat, and then either color the texture into an image and then use the laid out UV map to fit the textures in places it needs to.
or lay the model flat and paint onto the model and save the paint as a texture.
i do and work a lot with it because passion with making stuff

Im pretty sure "the letter" was the first horror game ive ever bought years ago, but i was too scared to actually play it. If i remember correctly, theres a secret level. I think to get it you have to find a very small item in the construction site level.
this is really sad, with the eshop closing down you won’t be able to buy archery by thornberry software or GRAND PRIX Rock’n Racing

My mother bought me a Wii U 8gb back in 2013, but it was stolen from me and then sold to GameStop without my permission shortly after by my former friend because he hates modern technology and so I bought another Wii U 32gb also back in 2013 to replace it and then called Nintendo to transferred my Nintendo Network ID from my old console to my new console.
