Thanks for showing your collection, and particularly the work you put into it. Keeping past items in a useable condition is an underrated skill. I really appreciate it.
A wonderful collection of antique irons. Thank you for sharing. And thank you for saving these fascinating pieces of shared history. I think the elaborately decorated irons (and other antiques you have restored) are elaborate because that is how the manufacturer told the purchaser that he was proud of the products he produced. Smiles and respect from the USA.
Superbe collection. Bravo!!!!
Nice collection! I love those old irons too. I realy love that You also restore the realy old electrical ones instead of just throw away a nice pice of history as most other people.
Poor woman. She carried all those irons outside. Lifted each one individually to show us the artistry AND had to carry them all back inside! Time for a nap! Thank you for the effort ☺️
That’s quite a collection, and I’m presuming you restored them all. There were one or two I wondered how they worked, as they had unusual parts. A great video as always, thank you.
You can spot which ones came from the better foundries... They're usually heavier, better ballanced and the closing mechanism looks to be better designed... Also, some of them have proper vents to keep heat away from hands..
I'm late lol. She shows one in the next video if I understand you right. They were and are still, commonly used in Denmark, where priests still use pipe collars 😊
What an incredible collection of restored coal-burners. I have a very modest collection of old irons, and only two of them are coal-burners (and neither one is in as good a shape as yours). I am trying to collect one or two examples of each type of old iron. Just this weekend I was able to come home with my first brass box iron (but alas, no slug). You've inspired me to do a better job at restoration!
Parabéns pela lindíssima coleção amiga, gosto muito desse tipo de coleção que você faz. Fiquem todos na PAZ e uma grande abraço desse admirador aqui do Brasil.
Do you also have trivets? Those are three-legged platforms made of cast iron. They were used to hold irons, to keep them from burning surfaces, such as wood, etc.
I was just asking you how many irons you had. Then I started scrolling thur your channel and found these. Wow you really do have a lot. Some very nice, some basic. Can't wait to see when you have restored them.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to find out the specific name of this inventor from the available sources. It is possible that the first iron was created as part of some other device or tool that was used to smooth fabrics. It is important to note that the history of irons dates back to ancient times when hot stones or metal objects were used to smooth fabrics. Over time, irons evolved and improved until they reached the form we know today.
Very nice collection! I collect a little bit of everything and irons are one of the many things I collect. The oldest one I have as a tank on top of it that looks like it might have used gas or oil I'm not sure. The first one you showed from the second row on your left is that small one from the same time as the rest? and how did you find out it was an iron I would have thought it was some sort of mug or cup
How many irons do you have in your collection, and how many different countries are they from? I’d love to see that little tiny one refurbished. Was it used for some specialized ironing?
Veľmi pekná zbierka. Po tej prezentácií určite bolela aj ruka :) K čomu slúžili tie "komíny". Na niektorých? Išla tam nejaká hadica( s parou?) alebo to bola náhrada za tie otvory po bokoch
I don't understand the translation exactly. Can the iron be used? Yes it can, but I think you will quickly go back to a light modern iron due to their weight. Lol

Be careful not to get your wife angry at you, those make deadly weapons. The village I came from the women still used those in the 70's. The husbands used to come home drunk and the women were ironing. Guess what? They threw the iron at them hot coals and all. LOL
Such a breathtaking collection, thank you so very much for preserving these and sharing them with us.

Most of the "vents" are completely equal and they are just to keep the ember burning. You know nothing about what you are saying.
