As someone who, in school, used my reputation as the class clown to cope with my loneliness and mental health struggles, I cant listen to goodbye without tearing up a bit
lol i did it the same, except i didn't know as a kid that i had mental health struggles. I did it kind of subconsciously
I was the class clown because I'm funny and loved to laugh and make others laugh. This sad clown trope needs to die.

Goodbye was probably my most listened to song of the past two or three years, such a perfect and bittersweet ending that really scratches my melancholic zoomer brain.
Goodbye was unbearably sad, and I might never listen to it again.
'Do returns always diminish?' is straight-up the most depressing sentence ever, and then he asks, 'Did I say that right?' which makes me want to hug him till he dies of platonic asphyxiation.

Goodbye was at the end of his Netflix special so that’s why there was a mash-up with some of his other songs
Think goodbye was an absolutely amazing piece to sum up the inside comedy special, was quite literally "a little bit of everything."

Goodbye hits a lot hard after watch all his over songs on the inside album. You also really have to watch the music video for this one! The visual representations really capture the words hes saying.
I'm pretty sure you've reacted to all of the songs from Inside (I didn't check, because I'm lazy).
At this point you should really watch the entire special so you can see everything in order. Plus the stuff that happens between the songs is pretty good too.
Always love these!! Since Bo is exactly my brothers age, I have heard him make jokes about our Dad in a way that makes 1985 super personal for me. And what can I say Goodbye is just a masterpiece Mashup of the special/sign-off song!!!
You need to watch the Goodbye video with the Graphics. It will make more sense because he uses video footage from the show

I'm sure other people have commented but the end is all re-does of other songs from inside "a little bit of everything all of the time" is from 'Welcome to the Internet". If I wake up in a house that's full of smoke" is from 'Comedy' and "Well well look who's inside again" is from 'Look who's inside again'

Watch inside from start to finish… it hits so much harder in context!!
You should just watch the entire "Inside" special. "Goodbye" was the end of the special. And everything makes more sense and hits harder in the context of a full special. Especially near the end as you noticed he went into part of "Welcome to the Internet", but he also goes into and alters 2 other songs from the same special. You are doing yourself a disservice at this point by not just watching the whole special
Basically the entire reaction video genre community. It bothers me so much that they all watch these out of context. Almost makes me wish he hadn't released the songs on their own. Reaction videos already contribute basically nothing of value, but the whole Bo Burnham reaction frenzy is the most egregious example.
Just so you know the lyrics in that 1985 video weren't entirely accurate. For example 2:02 should be "He got it and he flaunts, I am the thing he is, but he isn't when I want"
The references in this song harken back to a handful of the songs the human artist, Bo Burnham, created for his special titled, “Inside”. According to my analysis, you would need to cover both “Comedy” and “Look Who’s Inside Again” to have a more complete understanding of this musical work.

Ok, so I looked, and it doesn't appear like you've done his song Comedy yet, which is sort of the introduction to the special. You should really go back and watch Comedy (the video with the visuals by Nerdy Edits) and then rewatch Goodbye (again, the one with the visuals). Because they sort of make bookends to the whole special. Between the music and the video, Goodbye recaps most of the special, so you'll recognize snippets of lots of his other songs that you've reacted to. It's really best if you've seen the whole special, but you at least need Comedy and Goodbye together.
