    Merchant does everything in his power to take away from Mayweather and how he just dismantled Hatton. And Hatton was just straight up with Merchant and said no he just flat out beat me. Merchant just cant hide his hate for Mayweather which is why he lost his job.

    • @DidacticEditions
      @DidacticEditions 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's not to hate about Mayweather ? But still, I agree the man is annoying mainly because he needs to give room to younger people and because of his slow as fuck pace when talking. I believe only retired boxers deserve to be commentating really

      @@DidacticEditions This man revolutionized the sport as far as promotion. He realized creating this image gave him star power..Even if you wanted him to lose, you paid to see his fights! Even though you "hate" him, you can't help but watch him. He is a master of his craft. And then he mastered the marketing part as well. Is he the best ever? Debatable, but he has all his mental facilities, and is now a major player in the promoting game. It's fair to say he did it in a way no one else ever had done

      @Razatigar Ault Dismantled Hatton when Hatton was hassled by the ref and was ridiculously given a point off.gayweather was allowed to hold,use elbows and duck below his waist without any warnings and Ricky Hatton had 8 times more fans than gayweather had in that fight

  • @NEVproductions2012
    @NEVproductions2012 12 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The most fair and accurate commentary comes from Hatton himself.. "Floyd was bigger and stronger than I thought, he was better inside than I expected, he was clever at slipping punches and resting, he was accurate and hit harder than I expected, he was better at fighting dirty than i was, he used angles...even if they dont all say it..that's pretty much what EVERYONE who fights Mayweather must think.

    Floyd keeps beating all of the fighters that people claim he's ducking. Cotto, Mosley, Corrales, Baldomir, Castillo, Canelo. All fighters that people said Floyd was ducking and he beat all of them. His 49th or 50th fight will be against Pacquiao. What will be the excuse when he knocks Pacquiao out?

  • @ironlamb
    @ironlamb 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Exactly. Commentators, potential rivals and their coaches all underestimate him. Because he is a 'slickster' they don't pay attention to all his other skills. All his defeated opponents always seem dejected. Cotto was even more upset than Hatton, even though unlike Ricky he had tasted a loss before. It looked like he was crying in the locker room and it's because of that ability to make people like they are 'in the fight.'

  • @BlackOwnedDollars

  • @wheelinthesky300
    @wheelinthesky300 15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No way this was 89-81. Lederman was approx correct, 86-84. Hatton still had a chance to win or draw. Hatton did everything he wanted in this fight. If he had a little more head movement, and dodged some of Floyd's right (and left)shots, Hatton could have bagged this.

    Considering that most of us know now that Bob Arum doesn't let his fighters have matches outside Top Rank, is there a chance that Merchant knew this back then and was trying to make Floyd look scared, or could it be he really didn't know?

  • @futureproof28
    @futureproof28 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hatton is exciting to watch, but he is too ine dimensional. I've always felt that his severe lack of head movement and the absence of the double jab has always been a weakness of Hatton. He has to change his game plan altogether for his comeback,

  • @attitude8x
    @attitude8x 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @CarnardP My statement was noted with sarcasm if you didn't realize. Sarcasm okay! It's just to emphasize that he doesn't want to fight pacman that's all. You didn't have to give me all that explanation to prove your point. Mayweather will retire because he doesn't want to fight pacman. I hope you've been following boxing to see the reality of this fact.

    @cumlikatrain i agree 100%. it was wrong of ricky not to congratulate floyd on that victory. defeat is hard to take, but he should have shown floyd some credit, instead of commenting on him not being the hardest, fastest he's fought, and saying that he made some sneaky fouls. Floyd Mayweather won this fight fair and square, he deserved the victory.

    I don't think race has anything to do with it
    Larry merchant just likes aggressive style fighters like floyd says he don't know shit about boxing.
    And floyd is right larry can't appreciate boxing ability always moans about it when a master boxer is schooling another top fighter. floyd rigondeux whitaker etc. He would have hated watching willie pep.
    Larry's loves fights like gatti ward trilogy or coralles-castillo 1 pure wars.
    Don't get me wrong its great but I love the sweet science too.

  • @BlackOwnedDollars
    @BlackOwnedDollars 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @emforty2 His father told Hatton to move his head around in the ring and he didnt do it. At this point, he was already shot and couldnt fight anymore. Manny's trainer knew he was washed up which is why he wanted to fight him Which is why it took only two rounds because he didnt have the footspeed, the drive nor the will to fight the way he did against Floyd, against Manny.

  • @ballinjerry
    @ballinjerry 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah i know fights are scored by compubox.....but the punch stats were so one sided its unreal...i dont need to watch the fight with out without volume or announcing to know floyd lost.....u don't think castillo was landing effective punches because his most effective punches were to the body....people overlook that in pretty much every fight...but like 177 power punches landed for castillo to like 66 for mayweather..i mean gimme a break..

  • @Slimkidd730
    @Slimkidd730 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @maxsun13 Yeah your right. But it wasn't that shane had a luck chin. It was that floyd DIDN'T GO FOR THE KNOCKOUT WITH MOSLEY. Emmanuel STeward even said that mosley was luck because Floyd had let up and didn't knock em out. Floyd has power. Its just that hes so defensive that people forget that he has an arsenal of offense with him. Thats the difference between pac and floyd and thats the wildcard. He has the better "D." Datz in floyds favor. Pacs "O" is his defense. Floyd can exploit it

    @songotenz02 wrong again hahah, floyd was challenging cotto when he was coming up to welterweight. he even fought brusselles who was cotto's friend, sparring partner, etc. cotto mimicked floyd in sparring for the fight and look what happened. KO. also cotto was sparring partner to Gatti and ring side again, guess hat happened? watch the fights, mayweather stares cotto down inbetween rounds. roy jones even said they don't want to fight may know cuz it will tarnish their early careers.

    @elburro12345 Pacquiao fought DLH, Hatton and Cotto well past their primes also. And even Morales. Roach openly admits that these fighters are washed up. im not referring to ability. I like hatton as a fighter, I just dont like how he didnt have the decency to congratulate floyd on beating him, it was really unsporting like. i know floyd acts a prick in the build up but that is just to make the fight. After the fight, he is gracious and a class act, hatton isnt. i still think floyd will beat pacman like, and i dont care if he is avoiding him or not, it doesnt mean he wont win. Pacman has fought the best, but none as good as floyd.
