So I was driving about an hour ago with the radio on, listening to a small local station that plays a really unique, eclectic mix of music that is often entirely new to me. I really liked the vocal harmonies and gentle twangy/brassy vibe of the song that was playing, and made sure to note its title and band so I could give it a proper listen-"Got Over" by The Dustbowl Revival. I parked to look up the song and connect my phone to the car audio, then turned up the volume and drove off, this time really paying attention to the lyrics and the musical narrative. It wasn't long before I started to have trouble seeing. Everything was blurry and streaky, like when you're extremely tired and driving late at night in the rain. But it was daytime, clear and sunny, and I wasn't tired at all-my eyes had literally welled up with tears as my brain began to grasp what "Got Over" was really about, triggering the feels. I savored the moment, dried my eyes, put the song on repeat, and began improvising a third harmony to sing along with the chorus. Thank goodness for podunk local radio stations that play random stuff you won't hear anywhere else. I can't wait to dig into the rabbit hole and discover what else The Dustbowl Revival has to offer. If "Got Over" is an example of their typical quality, I'm in for a real treat!
Sometimes it seems Like all of your bad dreams Are so much more real Than going to the grocery store Sitting on the kitchen floor Listening to The Lion's Roar Eating all the ice cream At two in the morning on a Tuesday I thought I got over I thought I got over I thought I got over Over it Ain't it funny She was sitting right there Just putting up her blonde hair Said we're out of eggs and bread She said I'll go get it It's just a five minute drive There was a flat bed Flying through the red light I thought I got over I thought I got over I thought I got over Over it OoohI heard the phone ring Thought someone was selling me something They said come down to the corner I could hear the sirens wailing I tried to avert my sight From all the flashing light We had a fight last night But we were laughing in the morning I thought I got over I thought I got over I thought I got over Over it I can still see your smiling face But I lost all trace when I lost you babe And I woke up and the sun still rose And I reached out for you and your pillow was so cold I went to see that guy the guy who ran the red light Took him out for coffee, said don't worry I'm not crazy I just gotta talk it out cause I just can't figure it out What you were thinking, he said I wasn't thinking at all Oooh OoohI thought I got over I thought I got over I thought I got over Over it
Btw, do they torture their bass players? Because the other 7 members of the band are constant and every time I see them or watch a video they have a different bass player?

This is what perfection sounds & looks like! Great audio + video production - Just brilliant work to EVERYONE who touched this masterpiece!
i am absolutely obsessed with this song
Sooooo underrated :'(
Sometimes it seems
Like all of your bad dreams
Are so much more real
Than going to the grocery store
Sitting on the kitchen floor
Listening to The Lion's Roar
Eating all the ice cream
At two in the morning on a Tuesday
I thought I got over
I thought I got over
I thought I got over
Over it
Ain't it funny
She was sitting right there
Just putting up her blonde hair
Said we're out of eggs and bread
She said I'll go get it
It's just a five minute drive
There was a flat bed
Flying through the red light
I thought I got over
I thought I got over
I thought I got over
Over it
OoohI heard the phone ring
Thought someone was selling me something
They said come down to the corner
I could hear the sirens wailing
I tried to avert my sight
From all the flashing light
We had a fight last night
But we were laughing in the morning
I thought I got over
I thought I got over
I thought I got over
Over it
I can still see your smiling face
But I lost all trace when I lost you babe
And I woke up and the sun still rose
And I reached out for you and your pillow was so cold
I went to see that guy the guy who ran the red light
Took him out for coffee, said don't worry I'm not crazy
I just gotta talk it out cause I just can't figure it out
What you were thinking, he said I wasn't thinking at all
Oooh
OoohI thought I got over
I thought I got over
I thought I got over
Over it
