My daughter fishes with me sometimes. I got her a kayak of her own, too. She grows tired of the fishing pretty quick and just loves to get in the river and cool off, swim around, and stuff. I just love the time spent with her. The fish are just bonuses.

Hey boss on the red eyes I had a story. I heard from an old school roofer up in northeastern illinois back in the 80s, that a batch of redeyes were brought up in milk cans on the railroad in the 60s, and planted in the Wheeling, IL. area (sold to a local farmer). We fished the pond but only caught largies and crappies. Ol redeyes long gone, but I thought youd enjoy the story.
Great video with you fishing with your son. always great to get to spend the day fishing with your kids! I love it when my son wants to go fishing with me some of the best days on the water by far! And ya I always paddle up stream first and then float back down so I am not so exhausted at the end of the day get the hard paddling out of the way first.
@@BrianLatimerFishing ya man kayak fishing is a blast it has been a learning experience for me as well and just a little FYI be carful with putting your stake out pole through your scupper holes there are guys who have made videos talking about how it caused a crack in there kayak which created leaks. from what I have learned the scupper holes are the weak point on a kayak.

@Brian Latimer Great video! You guys caught some nice red eyes. We have red eyes out here in California at New Melones Reservoir. They were introduced up here in the 1950's and they are only found up river in the north and south forks of the Stanislaus river. They are kinda rare to catch because like you said they have breed with the Alabama spotted bass a lot but I do catch pure breed red eyes every now and then. Also, New Melones Reservoir feeds Lake Tulloch which is just south of Melones, red eye have found there way through the dam to the lower lake and there's red eye in Lake Tulloch as well. I believe there was another lake in California besides Melones that red eyes were introduced in the 50's but I'm not sure which one. They are super cool fish tho with their turquoise and reddish orange fins with white tips, very cool fish and I noticed they fight hard for their size. I seem to see them in the 1/2Ib- 1 1/2lb range but I have a friend who has caught one around 3lb. I've heard of other people catching 2lb red eyes, not sure how big they can get.
