Ashley that was fantastic! Thanks for the work you do! I think it’s eerie that Elvis is standing in the garden with no idea that’s his resting place and that millions of people will be queuing and standing in the very spot he is there! X

Everytime I see the old 1960 quard shack I think about Gary's Dad and his family and all that Gary Pepper did for Elvis, despite his handicap. I really like the music room. Someone ask what the pillows were doing under the piano. Musians often put them in various places to absorb sounds. Elvis had a good ear so he may have heard echo's when he sang and played. Lots of good times and the music room. Elvis did lots of improvements and remodeling to Graceland in the seventies. It's so cool that Linda helped him design the strained peacock windows. The P above the front door in the middle of the glass is very appropriate and fitting for the King. Elvis must have liked the gold mirror. Heard it's still in the living room today. Thank you Ashley.
Ashley, you are amazing at the then and now videos of Graceland! I love seeing how Graceland looked before and how it looks now, but what I really love is that you have the photo's to put everything in perspective. I enjoyed this!! I was born in Memphis in 1959. My uncle had a house in Whitehaven somewhere off Millbranch, and I remember around 1965 or 66 we were driving down Hwy 51 and went by Graceland. At the time Elvis was out in the front yard near the fence and was talking to a few fans who were there. I caught a quick glimpse of Elvis(the only time I saw him live). I don't remember too much other that the from fences was different and there was no pull-off, only dirt.

🥰 awesome pics and info again! I also love the pic with the ladies by the pool, oh there was life! I have a question, Ashley: do you know/think Elvis' light yellow jacket is the one from Viva Las Vegas? Would be great to get your reply😊🙋🏻
Amazing channel, Ashley! My favorite part of this video was the breeze way. I never knew roof was green! I'm always looking for old rare Graceland photos. This is the best place for that. 😊 I'm also very glad, there is someone who is truly obsessed with Graceland just like me. 😄 I even have my own "like Graceland" replica in The Sims 4 PC game.
Outstanding video. The race track is amazing. He would go to a shop in Memphis, I believe, where he would use the their track, then had one built at home. I never saw his track in pictures and it certainly exceeded my imagination. Thank you for another entertaining video.

As always so interesting. It was amazing to see another picture of the slot car set up. I know for tourists sake they had to change the trophy building, and i have seen various pictures of parts of the meditation garden flooring being torn up, plus changing the decor back. A part of me for historys sake would of liked iit to of remained as it was when Elvis passed away. Whats your opinion miss Ashley?|| soooo looking forward to many more excellent episodes.
Thanks a lot Clive! Haha I actually go off in the upcoming 1970's episode about how I don't mind the changes, I'm just the messenger, don't blame Graceland. I've only ever known Graceland as a museum so maybe that's why I feel more removed but I just don't take it that seriously. Life is ever changing and evolving, we need to grow and flow with it Thanks for tuning in!
I like before and after photos. Even personal photos I have. Reminds me of the 1960 film The Time Machine, if you could travel back, time changes space says Rod Taylor. The furniture gets moved around a lot I notice. Apart from bespoke furniture such as the long couch, Elvis bought fairly inexpensive ornaments it seems. There were a few refurbishments. What further changes would Elvis have done I wonder? Notice how deep pink the Cadillac is. Have you seen YT video of house built almost exactly like Graceland? At 11:52 sounds like you said 'in March 1970'.....see I am watching/listening!
I'm finally getting to Graceland this Sunday, but have to leave after our tour. We'll get to the Guest House Saturday later in the afternoon. Is there something you suggest seeing in that short time? Also, the viewing of the Meditation Garden that we can go to at 7:30, do they open the gates at that time? I'm so excited, yet sad we don't have more time there. Any suggestions are appreciated...wish you could be our guide!
Exciting! Try to tour Sun Studios if it’s open. Or you can drive past Audubon Dr or Humes high school. Dinner at Marlowes down the street. Have a great trip!
I have always wondered with a feeling of embarrassment if Beloved ELVIS would have liked and likes to have his life revealed in great detail, while his cultural heritage is almost passed over in silence //// We talk about his deeds and gestures, his places of life, his intimate life, more than what he brought to the whole world with his music and the new era that was born with it him from the end of the 50s; It's just a reflection on my part, and a mixed feeling because I, too, am taking part in all of this///// Leonard Bernstein said """"ELVIS is the greatest cultural force of the twentieth century"""" / TCB,TLC / !
Hey Ashley, I'm not sure if you've seen a copy of this 1956 article but it describes the layout of Graceland just before the Presley's bought it. It has three pictures including a great picture of the back of the house. The article even mentioned separate boys and girls bathrooms that were once in the basement of Graceland! It's on the Australian fan club website. I tried to post the link but my comment disappears when I do.
Thanks for tuning in! I’m not sure if I’ve seen that exact article but I’ve created several videos on Graceland before Elvis after doing a ton of research. It’s hard to imagine it looking like that huh? Very cool, thanks for sharing! ⚡️
I love all your videos. Soo interesting going to Graceland and noticing little things mentioned in your videos. 😊 By the way I was curious about the camera you use to take those amazing pics.
Aww thank you Kimberly! I love when viewers are able to spot things in person at the house, that's so cool. In the photos I took I just used my iphone! ⚡In case you missed the 1950's video, th-cam.com/video/RdVmalD1w_U/w-d-xo.html
@@ashleysadventures 🥰 I was just asking because in the picture in the mirror on the stairs you were holding a camera and loved how that photo came out 🤭
So interesting and informative! Noticed at the end that Lisa’s name on her gravesite is listed only as “Presley” and doesn’t provide any married names. Then, her son is next to her with the name “Keogh”. Shouldn’t that name be on Lisa’s too along with “Jackson”?
Thanks for tuning in! Lisa wasn't married when she passed. Her son's birth name is Keough. I suppose she added Presley as a family name ⚡In case you missed the 1950's video, th-cam.com/video/RdVmalD1w_U/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching. Yes! He had just broke his finger playing football. I created a video about that day because its a fascinating story: th-cam.com/video/aaoWTmlEzrE/w-d-xo.html
I often wonder what items/furniture in the home are reproductions and what are truly authentic. This could be a great video opportunity- I would definitely watch! For example, I know new carpet has been placed in several areas of the house. I think the white club style chairs in the living room are reproductions, too? Are the draperies original or reproduced? I have that question about a lot of items. Thanks!
Lol you are trying to get me grounded! I have a good relationship with Graceland and am not about the mess that up. Those chairs are from his office and have been reupholstered along with the long couch to match. Thanks for tuning in! ⚡In case you missed the 1950's then & now video, th-cam.com/video/RdVmalD1w_U/w-d-xo.html
Graceland looks nothing like it did when Elvis died. Elvis loved the colors of red and gold and had the entire level of the house when you walk in remolded in those colors. Linda Thompson was involved in the redecoration doing it as Elvis wanted it. She was also involved in redecorating Elvis bedroom that is also done in those colors of red and gold that he loved to my understanding. I guess since it was Priscilla that was opening the house for tours she put it as it was when she was there but Elvis had redecorated it with Lindas help the way he liked it after she left. Im so happy that the yellow and blue room weren't touched along with the jungle room/ den and where the pool table is. Downstairs also contained the bedrooms of some of the Memphis mafia like Jerry Shilling that are now storage rooms i think where the Christmas tree is stored among other things. I wonder what Elvis would think of all of these people being allowed in his beloved Graceland that was his sanctuary for his entire life and the sacred place where he died.
I recently visited Graceland, and was trying to find the tree which Michael Jackson engraved the initials on, unsuccessfully. Do you happen to know if it actually exists, and if so, on which tree?
@@ashleysadventures Wow okay, so I literally walked right past it! I figured it was perhaps one of the trees further behind the house. Thank you so much.
Well Elvis sure knew how to clutter up a house with all those draperies in the doorways, the furniture was not very nice in the dining room, and those sliding glass doors in the dining room going into the hallway - yuk! wonder who his decorator was! But comparison is very interesting!
All the wealth and fame Elvis had...Although Graceland is and was far beyond the reach of 99.9999% of Americans then and now...when compare it in a "pro-rata" style...Considering the # of people flowing through that place 24/7 365 it is rather modest...nowhere as large as I had imagined...amazing, when the renovations and expansion of the JUNGLE ROOM...for people my age they will notice the window unit air condtioning units (or custom square holes cut into the frame of the house...AMAZING to think how close he came in following his heart at the time...but Colonel Parker....a man as petty, paranoid and...I'll stop there....just like Johnny Carson who is one of the biggest A-holes in history of Hollywood....but one of the most beautiful, talented, amazing, sweet, fun, famous...in fact, she was the only star of the 60s that could keep up with and be on the same level as Elvis...I am referring to the iconic and amazing lady who thankfully is still with us...Ann-Margret...She has said Elvis was her soulmate and she's convinced she was his...even after being married to Priscilla for years he never failed to send gifts, cards, flowers or surprise her without any forwarning at times.... I realize that's not honorable but....Elvis remained committed to Priscilla when it seems rather obvious now that his heart was with Ann-Margret....as with most things, imagine what-if...Elvis was domineering over Priscilla and basically everyone near the end (although in his early 40s).... Ann-Margret was his equal and she wouldn't have tolerated him having a handful too many guys that were responsible for his death IMO....not so sure that same path is taken if Ann Margret is with him....who knows but interesting to think about...

Oh wow, that's cool!
Thanks for watching

Life is ever changing and evolving, we need to grow and flow with it
Thanks for tuning in!

Thanks for watching!

I suppose she added Presley as a family name

I wonder if Gary Pepper was in any way related to Cynthia Pepper (who starred with Elvis in Kissin' Cousins).
Ha! Not that I know of
Graceland looks nothing like it did when Elvis died.
Thanks for tuning in
Ashley, I miss you, are you ok? ❤
Just super busy! ❤❤
I recently visited Graceland, and was trying to find the tree which Michael Jackson engraved the initials on, unsuccessfully. Do you happen to know if it actually exists, and if so, on which tree?

@@ashleysadventures Travelled a very long distance to go and see it; but I do have a feeling that one day, I’ll go back there.
Well Elvis sure knew how to clutter up a house with all those draperies in the doorways, the furniture was not very nice in the dining room, and those sliding glass doors in the dining room going into the hallway - yuk! wonder who his decorator was! But comparison is very interesting!

Not to mention that Red carpet red walls red drapes which they had removed after Elvis's passing
