    In my country there is pretty much no alluvial or hard rock gold to be found.
    The refieries pay you (based on spot price) usually 98% of the gold content and 80% of the silver value on average if you have any kind of gold to sell - weather it's jewellery, raw gold or bullion you intend to sell

    Good stuff Chris , 30 years ago I wanted to start putting 50 bucks a week into buying gold at the time gold was around 250 an ounce , U.s dollars , I'd say 400 Aussie dollars , my father told me that I'm a dickhead and all the rest of it , you have to buy yourself a car and a house , get the f###en idea out of your head U dumb arse , so it didn't happen because he knew best , it's one thing that I have never forgotten or forgiving him for , but at the end of the day it is what it is now , thanks for your time and effort you put into your content it's always a great watch mate , encouragement goes along way , thanks again Chris cheers mate

    I think the key mainly that Chris pulls more gold in every pan than I do in 3 months. Yes your channel has the information to necessitate remedying that. But I'm lazy don't you judge me.

    If anyone is thinking of buying gold coin be sure to check the % of pure gold. The United States’ Gold Eagles are 93% pure gold compared to Australia, Canada @ 99.9%. Of course the purity will reflect the cost and the US Eagle does cost a little less than others that weigh the same (I believe that’s correct).

    • @wedgetailleather
      @wedgetailleather ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, a gold Eagle does contain the full 1ozt of gold, but it weighs a bit more than 1ozt because it also contains other metals.
      That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because the silver and copper added to such coins makes them more durable than higher purity coins.
      However, also be aware of the GST component which is not applicable for the 999+ fine coins like Canadian maples, but is for charged (in Australia) for things like gold eagles, and krugerands because they are not of a purity at least 99.5%
      So eagles will typically be more expensive, due to GST, while containing the exact same quantity of gold.

    • @MadMarlin1964
      @MadMarlin1964 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wedgetailleather didn’t even know it weighed more than oz. oh and I got the % wrong it is 91.67 % gold; 3% silver, balance copper, and weighs 1.09 Troy ounces. Thanks for the info

    No really tho in the state of Maine in the USA if something cost 1.00 it gonna cost 1.06 due to tax
    Or is it all built into the price on "sticker"

    • @markfryer9880
      @markfryer9880 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally goods and services are provided in Australia with the relevant GST (Goods and Services Taxes) included in the total price and also shown as a separate item in the invoice for those people who are able to claim the cost of the GST as an input into something that they are providing or making. Depending upon what the item is there may also be other taxes that have to be paid on an item. The GST amount is set at 10%. It's a pain but it did simply a lot of previously ad hoc taxes and tarrifs.

    So selling your gold privately in cash and declare less gold than you actually find then you can defrauld the tax/VAT inspector??? 😆 🤣 😂

    • @markfryer9880
      @markfryer9880 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In Australia it depends on whether you are prospecting as a hobbyist or as a professional. If you a hobbyist then you can find at least $10,000 dollars worth of gold before it becomes a issue with the Australian Tax Office. I forget the exact amount, but suffice to say that you have to be hitting a good paystreak or unearthing sizeable nuggets on a regular basis before it becomes an issue. If you are professional then it becomes like any other business where you have to keep accurate records of your business transactions and record your relevant expenses.
      Hope this helps you!

      @@markfryer9880 Oz is kinda expensive so I think that equates to about £5,000 here, decent I guess. Plus you have more gold there, that helps big time 😆 🤣 😂
