They deserved more, check out their amazing rendition of “Be my baby” for the fourth night of Sanremo. Amazing. They should have come at least third and maybe go to Eurovision, but Mahmood and Blanco are also amazing so I’m not complaining.

The most Eurovisiony song of this Sanremo for sure. The costumes and staging already spot on, and the song is well composed with different layers and still very catchy from the very first listening. Furthermore the meaning is not so banal, it’s somehow similar to “Don’t look up”, the end of the world is near but none cares and they just salute each other with a “ciao ciao”. No chance of winning Sanremo, after all it is not a national selection for ESC, but they definitely deserved a higher ranking.

What do the “Ciao Ciao” lyrics mean?
“Ciao ciao” is an over-the-top tale of the end of the world as seen through the eyes of the duo: a colourful apocalypse in which we must quickly come to terms with the general crisis underway, including climate change and social upheaval.
The body is the protagonist in the refrain: an element always present in the production of LRDL, which in this song becomes an instrument to express dissent.
The musical production of the song draws on a vintage imagery bringing LRDL in a dancehall of the ’70s, between funk and dance. There are explosions of sound as scenes from a film one after another, moving from urban atmospheres to tribal rhythms.
In the lyrics we find the irony of a generation that looks at the future with disenchantment. Is there time for one last wild dance before the apocalypse?

Thanks so much for reacting! Loved your reaction, it was exactly like mine when I first saw this performance. I love everything about La Rappresentante di Lista: I honestly think this would have been the better song to take to Eurovision. I'm fine with "Brividi" winning Sanremo, but "Ciao ciao" was perfect for Eurovision specifically. It would have made Italian entries even more diverse - we have never sent retro-style disco (with a very contemporary feel) to Eurovision! They are a talent to watch: I also love their look, their attitude and the funky bass. The catchiness is infectuous and I think we'll be hearing a lot of this one on the radio. It's just a shame international audiences won't get to know Italy's own contemporary Blondie!

Very funky, fun and very upbeat - Didn't know about LRDL and intrigued found out a bit more - some of their songs verge to folk avant guard...others more funky but all very interesting.
One of the potential winners in my view but the competition this year was very tough.
Last year's Amare was simply epic. The most powerful of Sanremo 2021.

I think they mentioned they would participate to the selection to be San Marino candidate for Eurovision... The selection will take place from February 12th to 17th...maybe we'll see them at Eurovision too... Who knows!

One of my other favourites from Sanremo which however I started appreciating only after hearing the song 3-4 times, is "Abbi cura di te" by Highsnob e Hu. A completely different style to this one (a rap ballad!) and also such a well-crafted song.
Thank you at least I know I m not the only one who liked them. Highsnob&Hu and LRDL were my favorites. I m disappointed by the Sanremo results as usual.

Regrettably, it tooks like they won't
In Italy we use to say "La ricreazone è finita" "The recreation is over" loosely mean "the time out is over" ( Ricreazione is the halfway timeout at school to refresh yourself, eat a snack etc. )
So, in San Remo last Year with Zitti e Buoni stat a relief, but i'ts over, time to go back at boring music... hence "Brividi", that's a pity.
