They added the post race back which they removed before when Newman's health was still uncertain. Still hard to watch, but I'm glad they decided to add it in this time.
That night, I was celebrating Hamlin's win, I didn't even realize the horrific crash that happened, not until they showed the replay. Glad Newman survived. I was praying for Newman and didn't care about Hamlin's win until I knew Newman was OK and released from the hospital. It's amazing that safety has come a long way in this sport and thank God the car did its job and kept Newman alive.
@@myronhelton4441 A car hit him in the driver side window at 150mph+ when he was upside down. Ryan was in the hospital for three days and didn’t remember the race at all. And he didn’t race for 3 months. But I guess that’s “no big deal” lol
@@myronhelton4441 Dale Earnhardt's wreck didn't look like a big deal at the time either. Newman's wreck was a big deal because of the three hits the car took. Simply put if it wasn't for the roll cage bar he helped design he wouldn't be here. Truly this was the closest we came to losing a driver in the top three series since Earnhardt died in 2001, and I know somone personally that worked both wrecks (Earnhardt 01, and Newman 20) that will back this statement up.
@@aaronz9410 I cant remember for sure, the Newman car didnt stop as dead as the Earnhardt car did. I think they aint telling that they were too lazy to change a rotten seatbelt on the Earnhardt car that broke. A dead stop kills much faster. Cars digging in the grass flipping is more dangerous. Getting hit straight in the side is dangerous. Cars wrecking together is less dangerous. Richard Petty stayed at the top of the race track was safer. I think in the turns that drivers go just a bit slower. Who was that champion winning everything going so fast in the curves that he almost got killed twice, then he quit. The wrecks are rediculous, they need to make a smaller engine without restrictor plates. Restrictors take 2 laps to get speed up leaving pits. The cars need to hit 190 mph to fly a little bit. I liked it better when more cars won races on gas mileage, they need to work on doing that a little better. I dont understand 2 races in 1 race. I like only Charlotte, Michigan, Talledega, & Daytona. If they have less than 2 races at each track each year, I will get mad. I like the big track night races where the cars run cooler & faster at night. Maybe they all should be at night. I used to like Atlanta, but the cars got so fast that they had to go single boring file. Fresh paved tracks after a month, the cars fly. Rain before a race, wears the tires out too fast, makes for a boring race.
@@myronhelton4441 yes without a doubt the dead stop accidents are the worst, even on the road, if you are belted in you would rather flip than hit a tree. Flipping disipates energy. Dead stop the energy dispates in the person. But what I was saying is to the untrained eye both looked like not much. Newman's initial flip, yeah that wasn't much, the car slamming into the track, yeah that was something, Corey LaJoie slamming into the damaged car, that is the hit that hurt Newman. Any one (or two) of the hits was fine, but when put into action, the three together, was much worse than it seemed. He was almost 100% exposed (outside of the Michael Waltrip and Mike Harmon hits at Bristol I don't think there is a better example of exposure, and the reduced speed of Bristol is the only thing that saved them) when Corey hit him. That is why I say the Newman bar is what saved his own life. Years back that bar wasn't there, and if it wasn't there he would have took a 100% direct hit to the head.
Kinda strange how this video got a reupload but it’s rather uncut. Not sure why it’s in 1080p because for some weird reason it looks like it’s in DVD quality 480i look. Normally NASCAR would upload races in 720p, the choice for 1080p is pretty odd because this isn’t what 1080p should look like.

You say that as if it was intentional. Newman threw a block and Blaney was trying to push. That's just superspeedway racing.. Not Blaney's fault, just hyper agressive racing by everyone.
