This isn't the full force, 5 horned, perfect union they used against Lucifero. This is the one they used against the twin devils, a less powerful version. Ichika seems to sense this and is frustrated with it. Probably why she questioned his readiness. IMO.
even though he said he still would have lost with DU, the form he actually used was full black form, DU has different facial markings, not to mention DU has armor, black form does not. H never used black form against twin devils.

1) Ichika wasn’t using magic but ki
2) He couldn’t land a hit on her regardless
3) it would just time out leaving him exhausted

@@JDWalker495 regular full DU wouldn't make a difference. But True Devil Union would. Ichika's not using magic, but She is still using yoryoku for the ki technique. When you use magic, you refine your magic power since Tabata stated that magic = refined magic poeer. But she is not using ki to refine her magic power, she's using ki to compacted her magic power/yoryoku since that creates explosive phsical force when released. It's like Boruto's high compression resangan.. you compact all of that power into a small space, then release ir to create an explosive amount of physic force. Yoryoku is still internal mana/magic power and you still need to use it to perform zetten. True Devil Union doesnt just negate magic, but it literally shuts off magic power, meaning that that zetten would have no affect on him since the use of zetten requires magic power/yoryoku or anti-magic power.
Now I wanna know how strong Yami would be if he hadn't gone to the Clover Kingdom. Ichika's level of power is just insane, and it seems to come from mastering ki. Yami barely knows the basics, and he's as strong as he is right now.

I don't think he'd be that strong. I feel like he'd be more careless and calm.
I feel like him going to the clover kingdom made him adapt to survive. Since he knew nothing of that country. And Or maybe the magic king just made him wanna be better.

I think Ichika is also powerful because she was a ki prodigy while Yami isn't. She is only 17 and has mastered it while Yami remarks that it took him years to understand ki sensing.

What I love about Asta is that when he focused it’s hard to land a critical hit on him even if you try to be physical with him. Not to mention it’s hard to get close to him due to his anti magic but give Ichika credit she constantly dodging Asta using ki and is pushing him back with Zetten. Also I love how Ryu knows in order to beat Lucius or Asta they need to strike fast when their guard is down otherwise it’s hard to beat either of them due to the nature of time magic soul magic and anti magic. So pretty much whoever strikes fast wins.
Also loved how Asta got back up from taking a strike from Ichika that was great to see overall a great action packed chapter
I think it comes down to compatibility, Anti Magic is very effective against devils and magic knights because they rely on magic to fight, save a few like Yami and Mereleona that can go physical. This is also why Devil Union or Anti Magic for that matter makes no difference against someone that doesn’t even use magic like Ichika and presumably the other 6 ryuzen. That’s why Lucius also switched to purely physical attacks on his fight with Asta. What Asta needs is to learn how to fight people on a pure physical basis with no Anti Magic, hence the need to master KI fighting techniques
I wasn’t expecting him to use his swords seeing how the technique works. But maybe if he can do that thing his brother did he can make it work.
I think Ichika’s power is justified only because the different techniques and battle strategy.
Like no one really could handle Asta because they either couldn’t over power him quickly or couldn’t counter the anti magic.
I feel like she and the even the shogun would’ve put up a better fight against the devils but still would’ve lost or found another way to treat. Just an opinion tho! Love the content!

Just as a heads up, even though Asta said DU wouldn't have mattered, the form he used again Ichika was black form. DU and partial DU has different facial markings + armor. This current form is the full black firm he used to break out of Lucius's chrono stasis spell. Also Lucifero was easily crushing DU Asta, he didn't get over powered until Asta used TDU (true devil union) not regular DU.
Ichika wouldnt solo Luci. Asta weakness is making her look super strong.
Isnt a matter of magic size, its a matter that Asta weakness is physical attacks reinforced with magic. Her , constantly on the bone, is making Asta overwhelmed. Which is the point of the exercise.
If the Hino Country had wanted to conquer the Four Kingdoms on the Main Continent, it will be an easy conquest. The Hino Country and the other Eastern Continent nations relied on a composite of magic and marital arts tactics. By the way which Ichika was attacking Asta, she was mostly focusing on marital arts attacks. Apparently one of the reasons why the Samurai of the Hino Country and the Militias will focus on hand to hand combat is due to the Demons, the Oni, and the other Evil/Dark Creatures. While the Samurai and the Militia will use magical attacks, direct and physical attacks are more common. Sword tactics help in battles.
Ichika had likely found herself in the occasional Black Demon and Black Oni raids. I do predict that Asta is going to use his new powers in a major Black Demon raid on Yami's home town. The Town is located near the Capital of the Hino Country. The Shogun and his family maintain a castle within the town. Since the Town is located near the Capital, it becomes a target for an occasional raid by the Black Demons and the Oni plus any Ronin force. The Town is likely the site of one of the Hino Country's most sacred shrines and temples.
The focus on KI is purely spiritual in nature. Since a large part of the focus of Ki is spiritual, the Hino Country is the home of the Spirit Element Being Michelle. Michelle's human partner is the Empress. To Lucius, the people of the Hino Country are inferior to his views of the Master Race. Because how Ichika had carefully use her powers, Lucius had extremely underestimated the level of powers of the Hino Country's people. Since the Empress is seen as a Goddess, Lucius had fail to noticed that the Empress being seen by her people as a Goddess shows clearly she is one of the most powerful mages in the world.
knowing how powerful Asta is seeing him getting absolutely demolished by Eachika doesn't seem to scale well. Eachika is just shown to be nothin but bitchy and loyal, and very powerful but Asta was able to take on the wizard king for some time... Eachika has done nothing like that.
I think asta will eventually learn a cloning technique where he is able to draw Al the different swords out at once and use different combos
I feel like it’s ichika level of training and the fact that asta has been mainly facing people who uses more brute force and kinda random destructive blows and large scale attack and Ichika uses a controlled seasoned style of fight and is more direct in nature to catch u off guard in fact all of her is supposed to catch u off guard she is a small and gurl that can grip an grown man by the face and plus I don’t think asta wanted to try and actually hurt her and that why she was so upset cuz he would take her seriously even though she is stronger than him he still looked down Upon her and that could probably help there relation ship with him when he finally actually take her seriously
If I’m robbing a house and the first thing I see when walk in is Ichika, I’m walking right back out the way I came.
In my opinion the trance like state he picked up from kiato would help in this situation keep his enemy from sensing his anti magic. Trying to hit something fluid is harder than hitting a solid object

Asta is at a level where She shouldn’t have been able to do that to him unless she’s stronger then the devil king somehow.
No she should be able to do that. Asta always had a speed disadvantage against his opponents. Even with lucious and yami’s sister. Yami’s sister is faster than him and that’s why he has trouble with it. As Ryuaya stated she is just holding Asta off until she finds an opening cuz Asta relaxes always at some point
Maybe it’s just me.. but my hair has been long for years. Yet whenever I see a character in anime with hair long, yet shorter than mine, it’s always perfectly laid down. The shogun in clover, let’s his baby hairs free. Which is realistic. Not everything can go into my bun. So I’m often left with both temples of my head being overrun with long straggly baby hairs. Maybe it’s just me but this truly encapsulates the fact that we’re all the same. No one is perfect. Perfection is a facade.

I think asta should train bare handed like Ichika, having stronger punches and kicks. That way if he ever gets disarmed, he'll be ready. I mean his first zetten was bare handed so.....yeah!!🤷🏿♂️

Asta really being pressured now since both Ichika and Lucius are the first opponents in a LONG while to him on 1 on 1, no help from Yuno, Yami or Mereoleona here at all, and that’s actually been quite the crutch when you look back on the series.
Not to mention unlike the the vast majority of villains in the series, they not underestimating him, they know what he’s capable of, and thus jump him right out the gate not giving him a chance to get going.
This fight highlights a lot parts where Asta still has to grow, he’s too used to being just the one poison dagger amongst an army, or the underdog where opponents see him as a toy to break rather than threat, which often gives him the opening he needs.
Hes got this remember he was able to give a suppressed liebe a run for his money plus he was able to fight kiato on even grounds and ladros
If anything he's too reliant on anti magic as a crutch. He unfortunately never had a proper teacher to show him ki, Yami just showed him the basic of basics and left it at that, probably since he isn't a master at it himself.
He didn't use Devil Union lol. It's just black form. He even said that it was pointless to use DU later in the fight.
probably with this training, asta can not only train physically but also train his anti magic power/ form to extend longer or as long as he wishes.

Asta katana’s only power is to cut what he wants to cut and not cut what he doesn’t want cut. It was always the perfect training tool, in theory he could slash ichika down the middle without actually cutting her.
I think Asta is not fully healthy, even with Magic his body still needs to recover more. Also Ichica was not fighting with magic, but instead physical attacks. Which we have seen in the past when Asta fought the beast magic user he got bodied. So Ichica is not stronger than Lucifero but may be almost on par.

Ichika fought black Asta, not DU Asta. Asta implied the form that got trashed Lucifero (DU) would Also lose to Ichika. So I don't see how Ichika having the potential to trash DU Asta, would make her above Lucifero when Lucifero also trashed the same form Asta implied she could beat.

I havent seen anyone else comment on the symbolism of the Devil(Asta) being the savior against the Angels(Lucius's Apostles). Just an interesting thing to note, as even Asta being Magic-less being the savior in a world full of powerful Magic users, speaks volumes on the concepts of flipping the script.
No its not devil union its just black asta mode but he has mastered it from half to full just like yunos spirit dive there are a ton of differences
1. He didn't get the stripes on his cheeks
2. His left arm didn't turn black
3. He didn't get any sort of armor
And the list goes on

I like her use of technique and how she fights, but they did the classic trope of bringing in a new character that surpasses the already op character just for training purposes. And Asta will learn, be stronger than her, and will go back, fight with everyone who will magically be just as strong and will somehow at the end of the day be weaker than others. Classic
It makes sense Asta is that strong because he was fighting magic users with literally a universal weakness of anti magic, now anti magic doesn’t mean anything since yami sister is using another form of power. It is a classic trope they are using but it’s believable to me

Bruh wtf you talking about? Asta is only a beast because he has anti magic, we've seen with Beast magic that if Asta's opponent is physically stronger than him they can clap him. Asta has never fought anyone who also uses ki, he's only fought alongside Yami. So naturally when his anti magic is useless against his opponent he can only rely on his physical strength and ki. But, his ki is infant level while his opponent, Ichika, is a master in it. So of course she'd beat his ass. Also, she's related to Yami, that alone should say it all.

I was also a bit iffy about asta loosing but i guess it was like fire water and grass ..asta was a good match up for lucifero but doesnt know much about these new techniques so it a matter of time before he solos ichika too
Eeeeehhh if she's so strong why do they even need to worry about Lucius? Yea the power scaling seems kind of off now. Asta goes from one tapping 300 foot demons to getting his ass whooped by a newly introduced side character. Should've at least had to hit him multiple times to take him down.
She’s essentially a magic knight captain with a fighting style and technique asta has never seen before. It makes sense that she could quickly overwhelm him just like the clover kingdoms captains could have when asta first met them. There’s a big gap between her and asta now but it’ll close pretty quickly once he learns those new Ki techniques and gets experience using them
I notice that they casually call him “Sukehiro Yami” now.
May be he could use this technique to levitate his swords like lieberman, when he coated them in anti magic the had them fly around.

This was supposed to be the last video before bed, but now I either wanna see Asta stomp Yami’s little sisters lights out with the stuff she thought him or fight to a draw. I won’t settle for less.
What makes asta so powerful and that his anti magic nullifies all magic. Ichika just used raw power and that’s what gave her the edge. So the scaling still makes since to me

To anybody that doesn't know, asta has 5 version of devil union with each version stronger than the last. This one I'd call v1, he doesn't have the 2 markings on each cheek and has no armor at all, he also used this version to get out of Lucius time magic before he went in to v2. Devil union v2 is what he used to fight Lucius, it has the markings on his cheeks, has armor on one arm and has the timer on his chest (v1 doesn't have the timer). Devil union v3 is his normal devil union he used in the spade kingdom, the one with full body armor. Devil union v4 is true devil union, asta has less armor than v3 and is wearing clothes now, he also has a 5 horn ( v4 is the one he used for 5 seconds against lucifero). Devil union v5 didn't happen yet but is going to happen and will have 5 horns like v4 but will have the full armor again and have 4 wings considering that yuno's full spirit dive will have 4 wings since bell, the wind spirit has 4 wings currently. We obviously know that tabata likes to make asta and yuno mirror eachother so it's a given that v5 will happen.
i think the heavenly severance works in a similar way to ryou in one piece whereas the ki neglects physical or materialistic properties from the target's outside and transfers the full strike into the target's inside, which is similar to hitting a heart or liver with full power as there is nothing that minimizes the damage or decreases the momentum of the assault, similarly it could also transfer the attack through inanimate objects without the outside environment or distance taken into consideration, hence it could really cut through the clouds with enough knowledge and training to do so, but devils aren't from this world so they shouldn't be affected by such technique, unless the technique also is something similar to arcane magic or even be a holy type magic or so(magical nature that can subdue devils).

I belive ichika scales perfeclty fine, Imagine a properly trained yami and how terrifying he would be. We all know ki was OP since everyone who used it has been OP. The other point is the shogun is the most important person in the land but really we see him with ichika alone, why else would he do that ? Just my thoughts so I could be wrong

I find the parallel between yami and his sister interesting as he suffered from racism and discrimination in clover but in the land of the sun his sister hates asta because hes foreign and brutally asserts her power

I think Lucifero would still win. I mean… that dude was a unit. He was fighting full power asta, yami, nacht, yuno, and just about every captain there is at only half power. I still think he’d win in a fight. But ichika would be definitely be a top player in said fight.

Cause you know we have Black Asta v1 with one horn, no tail, one wing, v2 with two horns one wing, v3 berserk first appearance of tail(I think its been a while.) , v4 devil arm two horns plus tail, v5 three horns small second wing, slightly longer tail and v6 four horns, two large wings and full tail which he used to break himself out of the time bubble's effects.

Anti magic has been Asta's bread and butter, but once you take that away like we see here he can easily be clapped by any truly strong opponent.

Your argument doesn't make sense because he also gets a speed and power boost in true devil union form, it's not just anti magic what are you talking about, Any opponent will have a hard time dealing with him, just from the speed and physicality alone, By your logic you can beat him because you don't have magic

I think there will always be a power out there to teach a main protagonist, but I think they went a little overboard with Ichika. She is a prodigy but should she be able to 1 shot the strongest devils? I don't think so

How I feel about ichika power level is very good and helpful in a sense for are main character and the series as a whole and to that ichika beating asta in his black mode not devil union its only devil union when he has two lines coming across the two vertical lines on his face. But back to the point we seen other strong characters in the series that change the power scaling in black clover so it's nothing different when a new character like ichika who was born in the land of where ki was originated from and has mastered it to beat asta like that and to win like that when he is in that form is nothing surprising to me because it's shows is still being written by tabata on how he can still learn on how to get the mental side of the fight down because he has the strength part down but once he goes back to fully coating himself with anti magic to protect his whole body and figures out the mental side of the battle with the help of ki training asta is going to be difficult to beat then he has ever been before.
Do you think that The Witch Queen, and also Mars will have a bigger role in this new Black Clover Manga Series Arc then them not being in the Spade Kingdom War Arc?

Her power is effective against Asta because the only thing he has against her is anti-magic, and she doesn't have to use yojutsu. She's just a bad match for him. There is nothing she could have done against Lucifero because she would have nothing to counter either his gravity power or his raw magic power (which was so strong he couldn't even he scratched by anyone except Asta and, briefly, Yami).

It’s not like there way stronger then the magic knights it’s just combat style, like the mana method
Each kingdom has there methods of strength, and each method can be good against certain types of enemies. Mixing these methods gets a really strong mage
Clover: they focus on grimoire enhancement. That’s why they have so many types of magic and can do combo spells easily
Heart: they focus on mana method therefore while they get more mana to fight, but there types are more basic to easier use natural mana
Diamond: ( I’m guessing ) they focus on magic tools, more using equipment to better mages that’s why most of there’s spells seem to be more physical ( big diamond sword, smoke runaway carriage )
Spade: don’t know devils took over everything before we found out
Sun: ki based magic enhancements and physical combat. Yami coated his sword with dark magic to get past its lack of speed, and used ki to better fight from all ranges.
