EHEIM is the most practical filter with a performance and price point of view. ADA filters are the best but very pricey. Eheim filters are very well designed. Eheim filters have Mag Drive Pumps with ceramic shafts for impellors. Gaskets are butyl rubber and do not degrade over time. I have used one 2217 for 8 years without issues or leaks. Spares are available as well but pricey. Good Luck and Happy Fishes!
Hi Mayur, I stumbled upon your video this weekend and have been binge watching since then. You have tons of knowledge and you explain very well. Have a quick question. I have the moulded tank with top filter. Currently I have setup it as bare bottom with some plants in small pots. I really want to do breeding of any fish( heard guppies are easiest). Question- is this possible in bare bottom tank with such filter? 2. Can I plant with substrate and sand with top filter? Thanks in advance. Cheers! Rishi

Hi Mayur Dev, I have not gone through your all videos, but i can say the knowledge you provide is correct and perfect. I had to do a lot of R&D to gain all this knowledge through books and various videos(none from our origin). I wish you made the series 10 years early. I have certain questions though. i would love to know from where we can get these good level aquariums unit that you have coz many local shopkeepers build it by using glass and silicon. They are never pretty. May be i am mistaken but your units are different for sure. Second thing is it would be great if you could help us to know from where we can order such quality canister filters and CO2 cylinders etc.. may be reply or attach a link or create a small video .. i use a top filter......i hid the power head in between the driftwood and plants and yes the circulation is too much for thetank... that is why in my power head i blocked one end so more water goes upto the filter box...in there i use ceramic rings and spong .....

I am purchasing this since today I am starting with 60 cm tank but I know in near future i will be going for 120 cm tank. So making investment for future. In this circumstances is it ok to have higher capacity filter or water flow will ruined the tank? 2) there are some filters which has heater as well as UV lights inside the filter. How they are important in filter. Or i will put it other way that are they required in filter? Cause I have not seen heater in your tanks. Thanks Parag 😊
Thank you 1. Buy a filter that suits the tank, bigger size will cause a tsunami in the tank ha ha ha 2. Uv is not good for a planted tank and neither is a heater, it is better to buy a heater separately if you live in very cold climates

With the vision of keeping Discus in semi planted tank I have built 6ftx2ftx2ft aquarium with 3.5ftx1.5ftx1.5ft sump filter. I am using 40L bio rio into my sump and using Sicce syncra 5.0 pump with 5000L/hr flow. temperatureI checked the water parameter and only thing I noticed that PH is 8 rest all are good. what should I do, Please advise. Any suggestion on water flow, heard that Discus likes slow moving water is this causing stress to them? any suggestion on that front? Thanks in advance for haring your experiences.

There are many filters Chinese with no warranty, German and Japanese, you should look for something that will give you long life, warranty and good results, do a bit of home work and decide

Mayur excellent video describing the different filters for different types of tanks and different type of fish. I need an advice, I have a 100 gallon tank for cichlids, parrots & oscar fish. What canister filter do you recommend? I was thinking of the Sunsun HW 3000 or Sunsun HW 304 B. Or two Sobo SF-1500F. What do you say? Although Eheim Classic 600, Hydor Prime 30, and Fluval FX4 & FX6 are very good, but they are expensive. Thanks in advance

That sounds good, remember to replace your ceramic rings every 3 months and add new

Sir... is it good to have an UV sterilizer in the external filter? Do they really help in controlling the algae and killing the harmful bacteria?
UV does not really help with algae control if the tank parameters are not balanced, please do watch my algae videos

First of all thanks for all amazing content and information. I am just starting into this hobby and information shared by you is already helping. With the vision of keeping Discus in semi planted tank I have built 6ftx2ftx2ft aquarium with 3.5ftx1.5ftx1.5ft sump filter. I am using 40L bio rio into my sump and using Sicce syncra 5.0 pump with 5000L/hr flow.
temperatureI checked the water parameter and only thing I noticed that PH is 8 rest all are good.
what should I do, Please advise.

Any suggestion on water flow, heard that Discus likes slow moving water is this causing stress to them? any suggestion on that front? Thanks in advance for haring your experiences.

Internal filters do not keep the water clean and also the fish do not like the force of the water,
best is to have a HOB or a Top filter

I was thinking of the Sunsun HW 3000 or Sunsun HW 304 B. Or two Sobo SF-1500F. What do you say? Although Eheim Classic 600, Hydor Prime 30, and Fluval FX4 & FX6 are very good, but they are expensive.
