I really enjoyed Katherine called Birdie. Lena Dunham is very interesting because she can be very personable and easy going but then she is also often very socially awkward and often makes very questionable choices. But the characters she helps to portray (via writing, directing, or acting) do the same and they are interesting characters who make us think. I think she often really sees people, maybe the wonderfully odd people, before many others do. She found an amazing casting director on Girls and with that person casted such, at the time, relatively unknown actors as Adam Driver and even Donald Glover. I do believe they - especially Donald Glover - were going to become stars no matter what but to be one of the people who recognize their wonderfully weird brilliance early on is still something!

I love Lena. People love to hate her. She has made mistakes, yes, like everyone, but she owns up to them and is overall a very smart VERY talented woman. You can tell she is a good person who has been and still is misunderstood, just like the women she talks about in her podcast.

I adore her. She’s incredibly kind, smart, and creative. I think her biggest “mistake” is being an unapologetic badass in media. Most of the comments I read on her are from uninformed cherry picked articles that came from Breitbart or out of context quotes. She’s not perfect by any means but actually tries. BTW, Catherine Called Birdy is the best film I’ve seen this year so far.

I was never a big fan of Lena Dunham but she seems like she's matured in the last few years.
She was in her early 20s when she started out. She's 35 now. Big difference. We're all idiots in our 20s. Just most of us don't do it in front of a TV audience, thank God.

have to see that movie now ,, has it just been released ? I watched many seasons of Girls . I ended up binge watching that really years after it had come out . absolutely was so inspired how young that she was and still is in writing these amazing shows .

People hate on Lena so much. My friends even hate on her. It's so bizarre to me because she reminds me so much of us. She seems very authentic and willing to admit when she's made a mistake. But other women (at least in my circles) like to to tear her down. It's really disheartening.

@@nikkibot Schumer definitely falls into that category as well. While I'm not a huge fan of her comedy I think she's VERY smart and holds important representation for women who don't fit your typical "hollywood" standard. I should say I liked her early comedy - I just saw a few stand ups that seemed to be aimed at laughs from men (like Whitney Cummings) and it didn't really click with me.
Both Schumer and Dunham are narcissistic women who blame their critics and claim they're being targeted because they're overweight and loud. Dunham is talented unlike Schumer, she's a good writer but a narcissist nevertheless. And a hypocrite. I loved Girls anyway

I'm conflicted about Lena, I 1/2 like her 1/2 don't. She speaks for women having a voice, but only if you come from privilege. (*If I had her money, I'd be eating well n exercising though, I too have medical/hormone/weight issues. And would kill to have the available support/access she has...)People somewhat like her, cuz she has money without it, no one would be listening.
there are certain things I thought were crass as what she's spoken about her sister. She can't be separated from her privilege but she's made her own mark. She's also been honest about endometrosis and having to have had a hysterectomy and the fact that nor matter what she does, if she's on the smaller side of the spectrum, she gets crap, she also gets crap for being on the heavier side.
Of course she has the financial capacity to do something to concentrate on to lose weight which seems to be a priority for YOU. Unfortunately you cant walk in another's shoes, you don't know and neither do I every specific thing she's done to lose weight and even engaging in unhealthy weight loss at times, which she has gone public with.
For those who are trying to recovery from eating disorder behavior, seeing her at a weight that you may think is not healthy for her, doesn't mean it's not healthy for her to be at the weight she is, especially with her ED issues.
I will always defend people's right to lose weight. It stops though when someone where they only thing they can say as controversial as she's been, is that they are disappointed she isn't using her resources to lose weight.
And the truth is now a days, while she could afford a cook and a trainer, if people want to lose weight, they don't need all that stuff, there's enough information regarding nutrition and how to exercise where really people don't have to spend money on trainers and fancy gadgets.
I am sorry you are going through what you are with your own health issues. I've been thin, I'm a former certified personal trainer and I'm no longer thin or a CPT, I do try to keep active but can no long work out at an athletic level level, I still walk a lot. Most people need if they want to exercise (and they should be cleared for it by their doctors) is a decent pair of shoes to walk, there's exercises that can help with exercise balls and a set of 5 lb of hand weights.
It's not going to help you resent the fact not knowing Lena's full medical history to concentrate on what you think she's supposed to be doing but it isn't.
It would more beneficial to you to work on your own issues instead of getting distracted by a celebrity, that certainly isn't helping you and Lena is already getting a ton of crap for that and in the end that doesn't help anyone.
I hope you understand I can understand some of what you've been though and I'm honestly not trying to be critical. I'm just trying to say kindly, do what you can do, don't worry about what you think others are doing but aren't, as you don't know the full story and it still won't change your situation.

Given the kind of activism Ido regarding body diversity, I'm accustomed to a certain amount of hate when it comes to weight issues (I hate any kind of body shaming both thin and fat). Yeah, people can think Lena has all the privilege in the world, but the thing she wanted more than anything in the world was to have a body that could have a baby, all that "privilege" means nothing when it comes to that.
So if people want to hate on her because she's bigger than people think she should be and she has access to all the resources one could need for weight loss should she choose to do that, it still won't change the fact, none of us have walked in another's shoes and her "privilege" wasn't enough to keep her reproductive tract intact to have a child, something she wanted more than anything.
I find it's not a good use of my time to just randomly hate on others on the internet, as far as Lena is concerned she's fully aware of what's made her a target, just like I am fully aware what makes me one, as a reclusive non monetized disabled activist.

I never said she wasn't a brilliant writer, I did bring up she got an enormous amount of attention for bringing up a ocuple of years ago talking about issues regarding sexual attraction and her younger sister although she never said she abused her sister but she got accused of pedo type of behavior.
There's a lot of brilliant artists in many forms in her family. That and what she came to promote her new projects and discuss being newly married on the show and her projects honestly, should have been the center of her attention, not her weight and again, that though wasn't brought up by me but "aintnowfuckingway" and I was just trying to give my opinion and or insight that shouldn't be a distraction when's been honest about it, the fact she had to have a hysterectomy because she had no quality of life with her pcos and endometrosis, which she has brought up in the past, not sure it was addressed on Kelly's show.
I am not the one who brought her weight nor shamed her about her weight, all I did was address the non issue of that and her creativity the other responder on the thread did that.

I'm curious what her Lindsay Lohan podcast episodes will actually say. There's a lot of fake claims about her that are completely evidence-free rumors, even from the late 2010s that people just repeat as if they're facts.

Not only have they never been pictured together, she's never even been to KSA, nor has either of them ever mentioned each other. It's entirely based on third-party rumors on websites based thousands of miles away (Lindsay Lohan settled in Dubai in 2018, and lived in England between 2014 and 2016).
There was another earlier claim that said Lindsay Lohan was dating Erdogan's son, which is also false. That rumor never caught on, but the MBS one did. Lindsay has been to Turkey many times (including for vacations, and while she was filming her reality-show in Greece), and she has taken a photo with the Turkish President but that's because Lindsay was doing humanitarian work with refugees there between late-2016 and 2017.
Lindsay Lohan started dating her now-husband sometime in 2019 in Dubai (I think he's Kuwaiti-Lebanese, but went to college in Florida) and they went public in Feb 2020. She got engaged in Nov 2021, and married in July 2022. Hopefully, there's no more new rumors popping up about her because it was getting insane.

@@LStottmann Lena has a history of controversy and "toxic" behaviors that range from being incredibly racially insensitive (and often offensive) towards POC, there is still a lot of turmoil with the allegations of Lena m*lesting her younger sibling when they were both in their adolescence which she defended as just being a "weird child", a lot of celebrities were put off by her at the start of the #metoo movement because she always claimed to be on the front line and used the movement to push some of her own products and for marketing purposes but never actually rallied around the victims or met with any of the other celebrities trying to help the cause, there are some suspicious claims about her track record with pet care and how often they seem to pass away or be given away, she's made some unexplainable jokes (that aren't funny) about Harvey Weinstein that made light of what he did, she outed her queer sibling to their family, and I think there was also an issue where someone on her show accused another member of the production team of a*sault and she publicly defended them claiming she had "proof", or something like it, that the claims were false only to later retract her claims and apologize because she was wrong....
All in all Lena has a history of being very problematic.

She has had major health issues. Had an almost full hysterectomy and is on meds including steroids, which make your face puffy/give you a double chin, etc. It is not "letting yourself go." If you ever knew anyone who had to be on prednisone and other such drugs, you would recognize this immediately.
She's always been a stinky marshmallow. Her personality reflects the way she looks.

Health issues that require high dose steroids are the worst. If only people would do some research and educate themselves, maybe just maybe they wouldn't jump to a "let herself go" conclusion.
Her face is not all that is puffy though. She put on a lot of weigh medical issues or not. 100 + pounds since she was on AHS Cult. Amazing. I lost 50 lbs since then and I have medical issues too but fortunately mine are not as bad as hers
