Indigenous Peoples' Day in Sauk County is held every year on the second Monday in October and is sponsored by the Ho-Chunk Nation and Sauk County and facilitated by the Sauk County Historical Society. On October 10, 2022, Indigenous Peoples' Day was held in Sauk City at Meyer Oak Grove Park to honor the Sauk and Ho-Chunk. The Sauk had a village and vast agricultural fields on the prairie that would later bear their name from approximately 1740 to 1780. Over 300 people attended the event and heard from a variety of local, state, and tribal officials.
