@@Daktangle She was upset for no reason, and almost took it out on everyone. Caleb was unconscious, and Molly hadn't gotten to do anything yet, and she got mad that using an offensive spell as a Cleric in that situation didn't work out.
You can practically hear Matt's thought;

I feel that's how Yasha rages, she's not some raging behemoth like Grog, she's more of a tranquil fury where she's stalking towards you but if you sensed her emotions, she'd be hulk level rage
She knew how awkward she made it by saying "Laugh it up" and then leaving, so she quickly made it into a humorous scenario even though she most likely did feel what she said initially.
Sometimes in the middle of an outburst like that you realize that maybe your hormones are to blame so she explained herself before going to cool off. It’s perfectly understandable.
Unlucky dice and pregnancy hormones made an unfortunate combo, I think she also realised that if she weren't pregnant she wouldn't have minded as much, so she decided to joke about it on her way out
We have a rule that if we do feel strong emotions over a game, that we can leave however we want but the rest of the table is going to laugh it off. It helps people feel like they can come back easier, when they're oky again. Laughter is the only way to cope in DND lol.

@doom3798 I'd usually agree except in this context she is like frustrated at the game rather than true anger, imo. you can see the fact she needs to move and get the feelings out ASAP, I think that is what Matt means by the comments. I also find it cute when my hubs does that❤ I do it too😅

Caleb's character quirks aside, a Wizard without a spellbook is no better than a random commoner. He'd have to start a totally new spellbook, and the spells are about 100 gold per spell level to copy into the book from somewhere.
@@rupert003 this was part of what made me love Monk. Take away all the items from the other classes, n almost all will be weak as a kitten. Technically, a warlock would still have their pact item, n be able to cast spells, a Bard could maybe still sing, if n a rogue could still sneak n do sneak attack, with a max of 1+5+10d6, but wizards, sorcerers, rangers, fighters, barbarians, would hit like little girl's.
Meanwhile, the Monk is always ready. They're just as ready in the middle of a dungeon, as they are in the bath tub

Idk what it is about Sam constantly ragging on Laura's dice horde and superstition, but totally going along with the whole "these dice are wrong and bad!" when she was upset is so wholesome to me?
While i don't doubt he cares for his friends even when he's being a dick, at that moment, he's sitting next to an unhappy pregnant woman. He has a few kids, so he knows the danger. Cynically, i'm gonna say he was being equal parts caring and acting in his own self interest. It's best to not be a target. XD

The only other situation that I loved more is when you can hear Laura and Travis scream about the Magic Carpet from the backroom.

I really feel for them, but it's also objectively hilarious when they quit like this. My favourite thing wasn't actually any particular rage, but Matt's face when he saw Laura get up to leave--so much concern for his friend! The cast is lovely.
Isabelle Li It got super tense in that moment too! I'm glad that Laura broke the ice though and it just let that tension out instead of just keeping it in. I love Critical Role so much!! So glad to witness such a beautiful family ❤

Having had 2 babies myself, I can tell you that “IM PREGNANT” is a legit reason for pretty much anything....lol
We were living with my aunt when my mother was pregnant with my little sister. My mother asked if we could get a dog. My aunt told her "No", and we were broken into. My aunt said she learned from that to never deny a pregnant woman what she wants.

Angry women are awesome. Roll above a 12 on a d20 and the night turns out SPECTACULARLY. Roll a nat 1 and you get your shit and you set on fire though. It is a fun roll of the dice.
However, you have to keep in mind when the angry woman is rolling literal dice poorly then you default get a nat 1.

It's interesting that we had more angry walk aways in the second campaign already. You kinda missed Travis breaking a mechanical pencil and Marisha got pretty frustrated with Raishan several times.

Lower Levels are always more Rage inducing because in the higher levels of a character, you got more Options and less risk when things go wrong. When you're in the probably levels 3 - 5, every single spell, attack, and hit point is a precious drop of water in the desert, so seeing it go up in flames fills people with a way more powerful rage.
I love the flashback, but I really only consider Laura's babyrage as an actual rage quit. The others just seem a lot more like method acting to me and they acted right after Matt called break time.
I always figured Laura just had to go to the bathroom or something and just hammed it up on her way out.
I would agree if she wasn't so visibly angry for the like 10 minutes of failing rolls leading up to the leave.

It's fascinating how the whole gang effectively covers for Laura for the mistake of saying that she casts the spell on rank 2 (which she did), but everyone immediately comes out and tries to say "oh no, she totally said level 3".

@ this is the spell description from the book homie "At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for every two slot levels above the 2nd." 2nd and 3rd level spiritual weapon does the same damage as does 4th and 5th, and 6th and 7th

There is a lot flak about Laura being pregnant and Matt humouring her, and thats why she left. Her bing pregnant aside. The rolls were going badly and she was getting frustrated and Travis saw that and he was laughing at her. He laughed at her couple of times at her. Now remember that she is pregnant and uncomfortable.
She had enough
what I saw when she stood up, a lot of the tension she was holding was gone. she most likely realized that she was being dumb and too worked up about it. that's when she yelled and joked, " I'm pregnant".
later she even admitted that she didn't realize that she was building up the tension and dare I say it the anger.
It's more likely she left because, being pregnant, she wanted to use the bathroom. I doubt she was actually upset at Travis, just the rolls.
Kokobro She clearly was annoyed. She was curtly (if at all) responding to anything the others were saying, seemed to avoid eye-contact and it culminated with the "Yeah, laugh it up!" to Travis. I read the "I'm pregnant!" exclamation as the same kind of "It's ok, I just need a moment!" that MizzKriek saw.

Point is these people are all friends, they sometimes do get tilted but it doesn't have to be a big soap opera deal like some people in the comments build it up to be. Just because one gets a little annoyed and a bit curt with the other doesn't mean there's a fundamental breakdown happening. Seriously, people are too sensitive.
Sai Prime ...and 100% right. The comradery is what makes Critical Rolle so good. For me seeing their bond, friendships and love for each other is the best. I never question the choices they make for their characters. why would I? I'm not playing it's their game.
We all get vexed at someone at one point or another (pun intend). Yet the world keeps turning and life goes on.
Sai Prime Yeah, individual tissys like these are just what you can expect in a playgroup. It's not until those slightly cringey moments become recurring it becomes a problem, which is something we've only seen, sorta, with Orion. And even then what we as spectators saw was pretty low-grade as far as drama goes.

There are certain "when you need it, you NEED it" spells that are often overlooked, that should always be at least considered. One of which, is locate object.
It’s great to have players who are understanding when you get upset at the game. I got a ton of shitty rolls one session and it was really pissing me off. Felt bad afterwards and apologized to everyone in my party, everyone was like “you’re good man, we’re praying you get better rolls next time.”

I really wish I could go back and enjoy all of campaign 1 again, but it's just impossible to with Orion's toxic presence there. Thank goodness he got the boot before the Briarwood arc went into full swing. I'm glad the animated series they're doing won't involve his character at all, though I am sad it will end up needing to leave out chunks of the story or just rewrite it without him in it.

Haven't seen the episode with Laura's rage quit. I want to assume it was a mood swing because of the pregnancy, but it saddened me to see her look so down like that. 🥺
