- In this video, I’ll show you how I made a powerful, homemade glue using just acetone and styrofoam! I used this glue to fix some damaged tiles that got broken because of the careless repair of the toilet flush in my bathroom.
This process is quick and simple - the styrofoam instantly melts when mixed with acetone, forming a glue that's great for fixing broken tiles and more.
When acetone is used to dissolve styrofoam, a chemical reaction occurs that breaks down the structure of the styrofoam, causing it to "liquefy." Here’s what happens during the process:
Styrofoam is made of polystyrene, a type of plastic that is expanded into a foam structure. Acetone acts as a solvent, breaking the bonds between the polystyrene molecules. It essentially dissolves the plastic, turning the solid foam into a sticky, liquid-like substance.
The remaining material is a dense, sticky liquid made of dissolved polystyrene. This thick substance can act as an adhesive (glue) because the polystyrene has strong bonding properties once the acetone evaporates.
The resulting glue is strong and durable, perfect for small household repairs like fixing tiles.
I made liquid plastic myself and used this super easy method to fix broken tiles. Amazing result!

Bonjour! Cette substance peut être utilisée comme adhésif ou comme produit de remplissage de cavités. Mais je ne l'utiliserais pas pour fabriquer des pièces ou quoi que ce soit qui serait soumis à une charge importante

What is aceton and where can i get it
Acetone is a solvent for oil based paints. You can buy it in a construction materials store, like Home Depot
Can I use Kerosene / petrol instead of acetone?
You can try. If you can dissolve styrofoam in it - this may work

No sé si es el mismo compuesto, pero por el olor creo que nó.. Existe acetona y thiner. Como sabrán no huelen igual. Dicen que el aguarrás, disolvente de pinturas no funciona para este pegamento con poliestireno.. ¡ESPESIFIQUEN!..porq otros aseguran que esa cola se produce con thiner, no hagan gastar en químicos que no producen el efecto buscado.

Se puede hacer con thiner acrílico no con el thiner standar, con gasolina también y la acetona.

It starts to set up as soon as acetone starts to evaporate. If you put the mix into the tightly closed jar, it may be stored for some time, but I would better prepare a new mix every time I need it

Puoi conservare la plastica liquida in un barattolo di vetro a chiusura ermetica. Ma non può essere conservato a lungo. Forse 1-2 settimane. tutto dipende da quanto è chiuso bene il barattolo. La plastica si indurisce non appena l'acetone evapora da essa

This method is not really perfect, I think you should use hot glue and Soda plus dye, it will help you dye and trim easily.

I'm a retired chemical engineer and spent my career working with all types of adhesives at well known worldwide companies.
This video is complete garbage on so many levels. The mixture is weak, wont last in the environment and is extremely dangerous.
Thank you for revealing your point of view and I respect your work experience. I am not a chemical engineer, and I did not work for well known worldwide companies. However, after seeing the result of the work every day when attending bathroom I can tell that the mixture is extremely strong to hold the detached pieces of tiles. At the same time I will be able to detach them again with the help of the heat gun when I'll need that to have an access to the toilet mechanism. What is important is that it is extremely cheap and everyone can "cook" such a glue without "sponsoring" the "well known worldwide companies"
Polystyrene is a weak brittle polymer and not an adhesive, except for plastic model cement, which makes a fusion bond between the substrates.
Buy a product formulated for the intended use by a reputable manufacturer. Experts spend years working on getting it right. I won't bore you with the PhD level science involved.

@@YouCanTelevisionя не считаю ацетон и пенопласт у всех подручным средством. Пенопласт стараются не держать дома т.к это считается мусором. А ацетон тоже не у всех бывает дома. Не все знают для чего он нужен . 😂😂😂 И про этот клеющий состав вы где то узнали и соответственно вам пришлось искать этот пенопласт и идти в магазин приобретать ацетон. После того как вы использовали эти материалы эти остатки считаются подручными средствами. Т.к лежат уже в укромных местах и вы знаете что с ними надо делать.🤓🤓
