      @Carl Stevens seems like a good benefit to dairy would be that the animals tend to hang about quite a bit longer for you to get to know them haha

      You all have no idea of what you are talking about.... I was working with the farmers back in th 1960ies. We had barely any machines this was just before silage was invented, just a tiny milk machine. And all the droppings, we had to shuffle all of it through small holes in the floor. It was hard work from 5 in the morning until late, never a day off. But I loved it then And today 60 years later its the best memories, I really still feel that smell and all the individual cows, lovely!

    That's an interesting build. I looked at loads of steel frame buildings before I set to and built one for my brother-in-law. It was only 30ft by 12ft for chickens (video of it on my channel). I notice there aren't any apex haunches on any of the bays or under the cantilever beams. A lot of these steel frame/portal frame buildings differ in design one way or another. Good video young man and hope the building serves you well!

    Next idea... do a better food feeding system so the cows can't push away the food as they eat it! Have a curved metal backing board behind the feed tray so as the cows push the silage away from them the curved board makes the feed fall back into the tray none on the floor or lost, saving you having to drive down the middle and push the feed back into reach of them? Also set up a simple timed motor run arm to push the Dung out along the length of the shed into a area were you can just pick it up with the Loader at the time when the cows not there! It can just be a tractor snow shield on a arm which a motor moves it along a track in the roof, a simple scaffold pole track were a motor turning two small rubber wheels along the pole pushes the shield along the floor so the dung is moved out. If done this saves time and you having to do the feed moving back into the trays and the dung removing too? I sure someone with your skills of work can do this George! Nothing fancy just plain and simple tech to save the time and trouble.

  • @upthereds4939
    @upthereds4939 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think your next project should be to build a silage clamp to save all the carting/stackin/opening of all them silage bales 🤪🤪 bloody ell you’s have a lot of bales . I’d go mad having to open them everyday. Best of luck with the new shed . Looks great 👌🏻

  • @LocalmotionSpain
    @LocalmotionSpain 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really nice job George - turned a fairly crappy feed area into a modern, dry & airy feed passage. A big difference. Guessing the reduced waste water is the biggest factor in deciding to spend money covering the yard? Now you just need to sort out your feed storage clamps 😉
