I agree he pips Lennon and McCartney and Jagger And Richards hadn’t developed yet. Brian Jones was never cool. Morrison not invented. Hendrix was doing regrettable things that ultimately killed him with Little Richard. Brian Wilson was Brian Wilson and Bob Dylan came along wrote some of the greatest songs ever that were so far ahead of there time. Created along with stones n Beatles the next twenty so years of rock n roll and then just disappeared into the night never to return at the same level. He never again was an innovator or pioneer and while his songs were good would of loved it if he was still interested and wanted to invent and create and be the best.

Sure is the coolest. Saw hin in cleveland,Ohio on november 12,1965 at the cleveland music hall. Saw him 35 times and met him on july 17,1991. He was walking to his bus by himself. I was walking and looked up and he was walking toward me. I stood still and he stopped and shook my hand. He was very nice to me.

You can tell by this sweet singing that Bob’s famous Dylan voice was a character he donned for his folk rock career.

  • @dannypound7626
    @dannypound7626 5 ปีที่แล้ว +129

Bob would tell you himself that when one is really wasted it is very easy to feel like you are just on the verge of doing the greatest thing that has ever been done...and yet you are too far out to reign it in and finish the job. This is the sound of that moment. He never did anything with these tunes because he knew that the moment of inspiration could never be recaptured. Very interesting to hear this.

A bit of this session was filmed and remastered for Martin Scorsese's No Direction Home documentary. It's one of the DVD extras. I've always loved this track since it's so unlike Dylan's other work at the time and really shows off his singing chops.

    Lyrics:
Now she's walkin' in the morning
    Howlin' you come home
I'll be on my way, so long, forlorn
    You just can't go
I will get it if I have to
If I have to please come home
Try, but I'll be dry, and I crave you
If I haunt you back all day
    Carry my trouble
    Yes you satisfy my mind
I'll try to tell you, if I can't come in
    And I must stay true
I'll be happy in the morning
I try my best, I will try to help you
If I can, and I leave it too
But I just can't find you away
    Won't some time away
    ...
That's the way I think she told me
    Heart she bent on me
I'll be out all morning, for you
    But you can't stop me
Yes, I try my best to please you
Try my best, but if I fail
You must help me to see you
    As I go by
    ...
Now, if you send me a letter
I'll be on my way to get it for you
I'll be with my sister too
I can't find me what to do
Yes, I've been trying to get a message
To you, but you have to treat me
    I won't let her to
And then I try my best to hunt her, you...

"I can't leave her behind" is such a pretty song. Great to hear Bob working it out here. There's a nice cover by Stephen Malkmus and Lee Ranaldo on the soundtrack of "I'm not there". Thankfully they resisted any urge to make it longer - sometimes brevity is art.

You really get an intimate glimpse at Bob working with Robbie on what was supposed to be one song that ended up being three completely different ones. After listening to it you hear how Bob would play one song and then as Robbie’s trying to learn it he’s started another one

If you’ve ever been addicted to drugs you can see how and why they helped Dylan so much. They made him not even think, just write write write no time for analysis and whatever cans to mind however bendy stayed. I can imagine him once he’d got clean sitting there with his typewriter and laughing at the thought of even trying to write the chaotic way he did. Sitting there thinking ‘oh shit I have internal dialogue again with negativity and doubt” Man drugs are absolutely brilliant but they don’t work for long and once they’ve stopped will never work again.

    • @tomclifford702
      @tomclifford702 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The work on those albums are far too structured to be written just from the influence of drugs. Not chaotic at all.

That's such an interesting way to follow an inspiration when you don't know just what you want to say but you have the emotion - you just follow the emotion and create cadences of syllables against the rhythm and hope you can find some good words to match the emotion.

Check it out and you'll hear a few lines of this song being sung beautifully by Bob and see Robbie shake his head and marvel. Why was this not released by Dylan? By the Band? By anyone?

I managed to get a copy of The Cutting Edge: Collector's Edition after many months of looking. Only made about 1000 I think. But anyway, it includes pretty much every note Dylan recorded from 1965-1966, and that's where I get most of the material for my channel. Thanks for listening and stay safe :)
