This show is so good. Everyone is so smart. I love that there's not sudden power ups, power of friendship or any of that nonsense. Even training pays of slowly.
Yeah, that's why I just love Mikumo's character, like characters said multiple times that with his lack of trions he wouldn't go far, and yet, because he knows exactly where are his limits, he tries to rely on effective tactics and learns throughout the series how to improve himself despite this weakness. While Kuga for example can shine with solo battles, when Mikumo has a firm graps on his teammates abilities, he can pull out so much great tactics that his entire team can shine
Really, no one. Even meatheads like Suwa are doing stuff like baiting out a sniper shot to the head, knowing the sniper on the other end likes to go for headshots so he can shield only his head and get enough density to block, then sending one of his teammates to engage the sniper that just gave away his position.
Yuma vs viza being my favorite fight but I also enjoyed the whole last B rank wars fight. Most of the B rank wars fights were amazing but I appreciate the creativity in the last one a lot.
World Trigger is great. On so many levels. I doubt there are any other battle shounen that do multi combatant fights so well. (Sports shounen might be more comparable to be honest.) You'll typically see people teaming up to fight a big bad single enemy or a wave of grunts, but in world trigger, even the more specialized powerful single enemies tend to have some kind of backup to help them. Furthermore, I love that the world in world trigger is dark in a really well done way. Its not edgy, its soft, well polished, and clean. We hear about wounded and casualty statistics, deal with being made into a public scapegoat for those people's anger. Its essentially a story about a group of young adults joining a private military corporation to fight alien kidnappers who harvest organs for batteries. Black triggers are basically a shounen asspull power, but require someone dying to pull one out. But theres a lot of hope as well. Bail Out is honestly a "Humanity, fuck yeah!" Moment to me. Its something that Earth is only able to create due to our unique position as a relatively stable and peaceful planet. Sure, other worlds would love to keep their combatants alive, but they're so far into a culture of combat that saftey innovations are probably much lower, and the natural idea is to improve the weaponry. Its a logical next step from submarines being desinged to float in case of a malfunction, or planes being able to land with only 1 or 2 engines. I could go on and on, but I will leave it at that. Have a good one!
Have watched it 3 times from S1 Ep 1, S2 and S3 really kicked it up a notch but S1 is still great! Thank you for getting this off your chest, this show needs more recognition.
The fact that the Border Organization is also like a Military Training Center adds that all agents or at the least, the captains have to be smart like military generals whilst fighting in the frontlines. Also, what they call the characters, Agents, in other words Soldiers. The characters fight with confidence of soldiers, heck, the invasion is like a war on their home, and they have to use guerilla tactics at times to get an upperhand against the invaders.
I've decided to start this anime one week ago, I've heard about it for quite a long time now, and I must say, I wasn't disappointed at all, while not being a "masterpiece" World Trigger is an extremely great manga. I was so hyped that I couldn't wait and instantly bought the manga afterwards to see what happens next
the term masterpiece is thrown around to basically every seasonal anime these days so people who actually use that term feels less credible, especially when they cannot justify why they call it such. While I also wouldnt call World Trigger masterpiece, I'd say its the closest thing to the term shonen-wise compared to virtually any other shonen (or even seinen and action shoujo for that matter) I've watched including the Big three, the latest mainstream shonen (JJK, DS, MHA) and some 100+ series I've watched years back. HxH, Fairy Tail, Dragon Ball you name it. Not having a nostalgia lens really help axed the number of shows that deserve the term. Even something like One Piece which is a great show dont get me wrong, suffers from outdated pacing as it came out alongside Naruto and Bleach back in those relatively old manga days. Old =/= good, nostalgia =/= masterpiece.

And the same as you, I've watched Naruto pretty late and while it's a good series, it didn't seem as great as everyone says, and for example, I've found Black Clover, which I watched a bit later, better than Naruto on some aspects. And through some debates, I've seen that the nostalgia, as you said plays a big role in the appreciation of the old ones. (Tho I could have som Nostalgia on FMAB too, even if I can explain why I love it).
I think it would need to wait until the next arc in the manga comes to an end (and I hope it won't last too long, because while not being "bad" this new arc started really slowly)

I also watched it at least 3 times in Japanese and English. It just that the show got overshowed by other famous anime that came out in 2014.

I agree 100% I love the variety however not overpowering of battles brought through the system in rank battles.
