I have a playlist with all the warlock subclasses covered, including abandoned subclasses from UA and even some homebrew warlocks for you! : th-cam.com/play/PLcJxbxz7P6i0IUJMtL8oX_D2fwEdPik4W.html
I would to see WotC revisit this warlock subclass and give it some variety similar to the genie subclass. Lots of differences between the archdevils that would offer more than just fire.
I agree. Especially since there are fiends that seem to fit other pacts better. Why would Orcus grant fire and not something closer to the Undead patron? Same for Levistus or Dagon? Maybe that is too granular to be practical but maybe something like the Genie with a list of general applicability in conjunction with spells specific to the greater fiendish super-species (demons, devils, etc...).
For my warlock I had an idea of eventually overthrowing my patron by casting summon fiend or summon greater demon and then casting planar binding, binding him in service towards me
Thematically it is THE original warlock, the concept of selling your soul to the devil is pretty much what the warlock is about. I feel like it and archfey were made first and really don't hold up anymore, I wish they got a revamp. Genie already has specifics for elements, I think Fiend should have specific lists and factors depending on the circles or allegiances of your patron in hell (like how tieflings have different bloodline abilities). I think Warlocks are the most costumizable class ever and Fiend at least in abilities doesn't give much to play with.
I feel like the fiend and great old one subclasses should've had their 14th lvl abilities switched. To me I makes a lot more sense for an eldritch Cthulhu character to be able to teleport someone to a nightmare dimension that deals psychic damage. And it it would be more fitting for a fiend warlock to have a permanent charm ability, it goes hand in hand with the whole devil's tongue/ succubus theme.
I think the warlocks should have at least as many official patrons as cleric diety domain stuff. if i DMed i'd add that in. and make a throw a bonus action. lol. IT's more fun that way.

What happened when the duration of the spell ran out? Were you able to make it last indefinitely with some sort of home-brew or something?

Wow, you're so right! I never thought of that!
All relaxed now, Thanks Rich.
I hope you enjoy the shorter videos. I'm trying to get more content in less time.
5:39 actually there would be rather a lot of creatures without magic weapons, even at level 10.
