To me, uncle Steve and Sterns didn't want the Mets in the race for a playoffs spot just for not spending money. I'm pretty sure about this because they do not have a win mentality
These teams will hold the Mets feet to the fire in their situation. Price will be nuts. And without Senga is it worth it. It’s not a coincidence the team was flat the 2 games after finding out he’s done. We went from having Senga back and trading for a stud and being good to go to now we have no starters for playoffs. I won’t be surprised either way at this point.
There are a lot more team that should be sellers than there are selling now and that just make them greedy because teams want prospects but no one want to give up the good stuff
STEARNS has his hands full. The starters run out of gas between the 4th and 6th innings, with the exception of SENGA. The bullpen has injury issues with NUNEZ and DIAZ han not been pitching up to par.

Skubal is not getting traded without Mets unloading the farm, Snell ahs a $31 million player option for next year so Flaherty is best chance but everyone needs pitching so it will cost a fortune

I think that idea of trading for Skubal and taking on Baez’s contract is very interesting.
Mets send McNeil and a prospect or a few to Detroit for Skubal and Baez? I can’t imagine the Mets would have to give the Tigers much in the way of prospects and Baez did play very well for the Mets. I think he’s a change of scenery candidate.
In 55 PA he’s hitting .340/.346/.540 with RISP on the season
I don't think the Tigers would trade Skubal, most likely a Cy Young winner this year, for anything at this point. Skubal is the type of guy you build around.

Sal is right on the Mets, all Sterns did was get 2 relievers with high 4 ERA's. They need at least 1 if not 2 starters and a great bullpen arm!
Trade Nestor. Trade Torres. Trade Verdugo. Trade Spencer Jones. Make 3b, bp and closer happen. Also we can replace for now Verdugo with a guy from the Rockies who costs $750k and is on a 1 year contract. Brenton Edward Doyle. Look him up. He is what we wish Verdugo was. If the Martian comes up and can play, well you at least had someone better than Verdugo out there until then that cost nothing. But if Martian doesnt work out, you still have someone better than Verdugo. I dont care that Verdugo and Torres have heated up, i dont. Consistency is not their strong point. Nestor, sorry he has to go if you can find a deal that works.
Closer should be Tanner Scott. 3b id love to see India, but the Reds want Rice in a trade for India. So now we have a hole @ 1st and were gonna rely on Rizzo when he comes back ? I think not. So India, unless they like another trade offer we throw at them is off the board. So that brings us to Matt Chapman, may not be everyones 1st choice. But hes an upgrade at 3rd.
