- In this video I play & compare the newly released Metallica 2.0 by VpinWorkshop in Visual Pinball, side by side with the real Stern premium Metallica machine.
VPW are legends, without a doubt. Pinball simulation has come leaps and bounds thanks to them. It will take looking very closely and finding every little critique we can dig up to improve Virtual Pinball at this point. Thanks to VPW, Virtual Pinball has a very high ceiling and I love it.
VPW has definitely set the bar very high when it comes to simulating the authentic experience. I can really appreciate their dedication into constantly improving dev techs, the results speak for themselves. Yeah at this point we are nit picking the differences & that’s a great step for virtual pinball.
Fantastic comparison! Looking forward to jumping into this one on my cabinet and in VR on my cabinet.

Nice video. Nice to see from someone that plays both, how virtual tables compare. I'm in an area where you only find new sterns, so can't experience the real versions to compare myself.
Slowly but surely VPW is blurring the lines between virtual and physical tables….cant wait to see where the future takes us. Thanks for stopping by Ed
I own a few real pinball machines as well as a virtual pin. The biggest differences I see with the virtual pins is the ball physics. The balls seem to float a bit (not enough weight) and don’t bounce off the rubber’s realistically.
Yeah many tables feel like your playing with a power ball instead of a properly weighted pinball. Thankfully everything in VPX is adjustable, changing the ball mass to 1.5 in the script can help on said tables. When the ball is weighted better it also has more realistic bounce off of the rubbers.

@@hoganzeros3572 nope, the only VPX adjustment I made was to the POV to match it up with the real machine
I play a Godzilla near me and it's like the playfield is covered in custard it's so slow.

I have some personal experiences:
In the case of WP, the ball rolls more slowly and gravity affects it less.
Thanks for offering your insight. A good thing to remember is how dramatically the table’s pitch can effect gameplay, .5 degrees up or down can completely change the ball’s behavior on a real machine

I understood the slower speed in the case of WP.
Its also cause of YT 60fps. 120fps in reallife is faster
@@lomstertv366 When playing a 120 fps recording, it should be half as fast as 60 fps. So the ball would move half as fast, slow motion.
yeah, but when you (only) play with 120fps you have a smoother ball movement, it also looks faster to me then

Thanks for watching and commenting…..With the new lightning I think this is probably the best table yet if your criteria is simulating the real machine.
Is it possible to perform a slap save on the virtual table?
Yes if you have a board installed/configured with an accelerometer you can most definitely slap save and physically nudge the ball in VPX. I kept it to a minimum on the video to prevent any camera shake or drifting out of frame.
