of course lamp is new. batteries usually start leaking in few years and stop working. also notice very little dust on the jacket. and little dust in rooms too.
okeanos467 says in description boy scouts use to stay there. so likely the plastic table that looks newer in 2nd house, the jacket and lamp belongs to them
Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries can last decades and are guaranteed to not leak. Downside, very expensive. AA, AAA, and 9 volt sizes, was told by a testing engineer, the 9 volt batteries could last indefinitely if rarely used.
Maripie I know the feeling! As a geology student, I once walked into an tiny mountain encampment in Durango, Mexico. There were smoking campfire ashes and several small steel flasks lying on the ground. I recognized them as mercury flasks worth a small fortune by Mexican miner standards. I feigned indifference, and broke into a cold sweat, sure that there were rifles trained on me, and slowly walked back to my jeep and left. Later in the summer I met an old miner and his pack burro plus old rifle on a trail and he told me that there was nothing that would interest me on the trail ahead. I quickly agreed, turned around, and went back to my jeep again. Aside from dodging rattlers, those were the scariest experiences I had out there.
Those opening shots are mesmerizing. I love how tucked away it looks, like you could pass by a half mile away and not even see the place. Thank you EWU for showcasing this place!
1:01 Just a thought. Be extremely cautious when checking the pockets of unknown personal items. There might be needles or other unsafe objects in them. Better safe than sorry.
This was AWESOME!!!! One of the comments asked "Who would want to stay in a place like this without ect.."? I say "I WOULD IN A HEARTBEAT!!!!".... I have NO problem with roughing it! WONDERFUL VIDEO, THANK YOU!!!!
Some of the cabins look like they have been very discretely repaired. The roofs have a particularly well kept look to them on some of them. I suspect the users of these buildings have intentions of a return at some point. The leather jacket looks just like the ones I used to see down at Tiajauna back in the day. I used to go over to TJ from the San Ysidro border crossing about twenty plus years ago. The metal table was probably used for cleaning/prepping wild game meat. It is nice to see the vandals have not torn it all up.
Yes, you're right Tom, the Boy Scouts use to camp there and did some repairs, but it looks like they haven't been there in a long time, or at least they haven't done any repairs in a long time. I think you're right about the metal table. :-)
Very nice explore you find a lot of good places there, it could have been a gold mine but that's a guess that big sink could have been used too wash dirt.
Don't wanna brag or anything, but I too used to explore ghost towns in the middle of the desert some time ago. Unless my mom were to call me for dinner, in which case I had to pause GTA San Andreas for a while...
Sunny Burrito we don't have anything similar to this. Farms are literally not lived on, very few farmers live on their own land! Only thing we have is abandoned homes and mental institutions and hospitals. Nothing as old as what you see in this video. If we did have the county's make sure to remove old unused sites and re build new homes or other people buy old land to re build!
The long metal sink ,makes me think that they were using it to clean and cut up meat. The one little building looked like a smoke house. Very interesting place.
+Judy Holiday Maybe you can quote a source because it so happens I worked as an embalmer's assistant for many years. I have never heard of a tin embalming table. I have seen early 18th century embalming tables and they were cast iron with porcelain overlay baked onto the cast iron. Leave your link so I can check out the table you are speaking of. Thx
Another awesome video! I would say that long "sink" in the one building would have been a wash trough for cleaning deer or other livestock. They would have likely kept some animals, pigs, chickens, etc, for sustenance while in camp. They probably used the trough for everything from butchering meat to washing their clothes.
When I lived in NM back in 1999, I went to an abandoned town that had a caretaker for tourist. Those double ruts coming down the left side of the hill at 9:33 min look like the same ruts the caretaker told me were stage coach tracks from the late 1800 to early 1900s... when stage coaches were still in use. What am amazing fine!
Have to say one thing. JUST TO THINK. THIS WAS A TOWN. PEOPLE LIVED HERE. New to the channel but I'm loving these videos. Shows some of our unknown history.
At 1:38 - was there something on the signs in front of the building. And isn't it odd that the jugs in that building would have water in them? With the water, light and coat, I think someone has to be around.
I was thinking the same thing. Recent "technology" too. That lantern was LED, and that newer folding black chair in that one room as well. Odd, he didn't let us read what was on the signs out front of that building, and what was pixels out inside?
Great Video! some of the carpentry may seem innocuously simple, but cuttting and measuring that notch in the overhang 5:13 would take some doing, and there are some nice mitred edges around too.
Wow! Nice find! an old mining town, did you look at the board that sitting at the foot of the grave? I bet that the name of the dead miner is writen on it. I enjoy you guys videos very much, I think the Hunters cabin is your best find yet!
Thank you, the board at the bottom of the grave just had a number on it. It looked like it may have had something written on it a long time ago, but it was completely illegible. Thank you. :-)
Hey guys.... love the throwback vids. Any who... at 8:00 the brick work there looks like a an old fashioned type boiler. Looks like they had a need for running hot water. Nice video as always. Love yalls work.
Have to say that's the nicest one you've gone into in a while! Very much enjoyed this! Would love to go there one day. That looks like an old restaurant sink, to me anyway.
In the beginning of your video at about the minute mark of 2:06 is what I believe a fancy feast cat food can????? I wanted to say how much I am enjoying your exploration videos. I get up about 2 hours before my wife and usually take the time to answer e-mails , check on current events and I watched many when you metal detected in streams and found all kinds of neat items. I purchase a metal detector two years ago and unfortunately reinjured my back, neck and hands so I have been unable to metal detect. I am hoping after watching your videos to stir the interest and try to do it myself. Thank you for sharing. God Bless, Lou Grossi
If you want to bring people back in that ghost town open the saloon! LOLLLL..Love to watch these videos, keep it coming! Very entertaining. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, it had people there not too long ago.Say that as in the building with the dining table in the kitchen had a bag of paper or foam plate from Walmart.
WOW just Amazing hope you do not mind but I share your videos with the Ghost and haunted sites on Facebook and TH-cam Amazing videos thanks for sharing!
Very interesting...! I noticed that there were two modern chairs in the first house, no more than 5 years old, with no dust on them. In the kitchen of building 2 were a bunch of unknown chemicals under the sink, and a "heavy box" that went unexamined. A couple of recent looking beer bottles rounded off the picture. It all looked too clean and recently-used, for my liking. This place has served a purpose recently, probably not a legal one.
Could have possibly been a hunters camp. The big tub could have been for cleaning and gutting game. Do you guys stay out in the desert? Like camp? Do you bring extra gasoline ? Food , clothes etc? I enjoy that you go off the beaten path. When are you going to explore more about nan Dixon? Thanks guys
There is a pretty large mine right next to the camp, but I do think they must have been cleaning and gutting game there too. Yeah, we do camp out in the desert. Always extra food and water. I have to get some new tires, but after I get new tires, I will be out looking for Nan again. :-)
Great place! Did you check the expiration dates on the food and beer? That lantern makes me think somebody had been there recently since it still works. Creepy lol.
Hmmmm, I bet is an active mine done on a part time basis. There are a lot of tracks in the dirt around 9:00. The mine shaft looks clean. and I bet you are on candid camera right now. Second guess after reading something I saw. These are rented or free shelter. Lots of 4x4 dudes put food & supplies in these places in case someone has an energency. Nailed it!
Nice work! I like the video and the topic. I do a bit of exploring here in Western Australia but most of our history is less than 200 years old. Keep it up :-)
Really enjoyed the video there's some fantastic ghost towns to explore in Nevada A long time mining State and the backdrop the wild desert landscape is a unique kind of beauty
I think most of those half buried or rock walled small buildings you call "cold storage" are smoke houses. They almost inevitably have a stack on top, but never a stove inside, or evidence of one. No refrigeration except winter (lol), salting, smoking, and drying was about the only way to preserve meat, whether stock or game. That "odd sink" seems like the "washing machine"/laundry station. I do think your "water heater" call was spot on, though it could be a low pressure boiler as well
I am sure you are familiar with Caliente. In 1957 I was 5 years old and lived there in one of the row houses right on hwy 93 as you head north out of town. My dad was a miner. Those houses are fixed up nice compared to what they were in 1957.
I love abandoned places and I also love learning history and why places are abandoned. But it sucks that a lot of ghost towns don't have any info available for them.
What a fascinating place, looks like it was a nice little community once, very sad to see it so abandoned and neglected now, although, those tyre tracks looked recent, or were those yours? there are so many cool places out there :)
Great videos. Love them. Please be careful. I went exploring one time, and turned over a box, and a large scorpion was sitting on the ground. Dangerous! I hope you guys always wear gloves, arm and leg protection, boots, and keep an emergency medical kit with you. If I were you, although I am not pro-gun, it seems that some sort of protection would be wise. For heck's sake, keep someone advised of your anticipated location, so if something occurs, you can be found. Be safe. Great, steady videos. More, please.
Awesome vids dude! Love your content and I did the obvious thing lol. I also love exploring abandoned places and right now I can't since I'm sick, but watching your vids make me feel like I'm there with you :)
Thank you so much, and I hope you get well soon. Nothing worse then being sick and stuck not being able to explore. I am very happy to hear you enjoy the videos. :-)
If this is all in Nevada. I can tell by the candle on the shelf and the light. It's for drug runners from Mexico.. They are using it as a drop off or collection area..No one or there mother would be out there. Either the fresh tire tracks are yours or some one else was recently out there before you. Those tire tracks would be warn down by wind by now..and wouldn't be visible hardly.. The first cabin had a number 3 above the door.. so this tells me..some one built a desert retreat or a place to leave the city for awhile. those cabins are not old.. 80's maybe like a small dude ranch style.. The beer bottles are recent and the propane bottles are newer maybe 5 years old. I have the exact same ones.. You stumbled upon a camp..Time: 4:42 as your checking out the other buildings on the hill.. there is a pile of fresh wood mixed with older gray wood..Indication that it's still being used. The last cabin with the piano and dinner table.. Mexican's aren't like us Americans.. We eat in all areas of our homes..No matter how ruthless some of these runners are..they stick to there traditions / manners well. The last cabin is for entertaining and eating only..Here in California. we have some of the same type set ups as well.. a place for runners.. and things are left behind for the next group.. Maybe this area hasn't had the same use as many .. or the feds or immigration knows of this area as popular..and people wont go there for years until the heat dies down..Fresh cut wood to me indicates some one was there recently. Time 10:30.. the bathtub sink is for cleaning meat.. Gutting animals for cooking. Time 9:09 that bridge is newer. It's not a town..It's was a private residence or retreat. 10:14..whats it say on the the wood with the paper on it..the name of that person buried there.. so we can investigate that area..learn something about the people that once owned it..There some older buildings I say..And the 3 inline have sheet metal roofs.. some one was replacing new material over old..I wouldn't go as far to say. this ghost town is a town.. It's no way 1800's but early to late 1900's..
Sonic Reef yeah the place looks like it was maybe around for 50-60 years. some of that wood looked to be in pretty good shape. i would be worried about wandering into some sort of a trap.
I would suspect that most haven't been used for a while. But when you find things like jackets hanging and no dust whats so ever on it..Alarm would go off..It's questionable.. Like A video before this one.. A battery powered lantern came on.. Shelves / propane bottles that looked resent. Maybe a hunting cabin..still you never know whats around the corner or over the hill.. that's why he uses a drone first..to scope it out before hand, No matter how many he does. 100 to a million locations.. theres always going to be at least one thats going to be scary or some one there. God giving there not mean..Murphy's Law.. What wont happen , Will..it's when..
Looks like it was used to grow and butcher rabbits for food. The mines would be nice to explore to see what was left behind. Thanks for the post, Best Wishes n Blessings Keith
you should put a small mirror at the end of a stick so when you find a bucket you don't want to take down off the shelf you can hold the stick up in the air and get a good look at what's in the bucket without moving it
Extremely interesting place. As you said, seems like the boy scouts haven't been around for a few years. For curiosity, noticing the Great Value products in the kitchen, it had to have been around 2009ish. This area is pretty amazing.
@ 10 seconds.. the circles look like to me .. a guess but looks like bombing practice .. has to be no other possibility.. Very fascinating.. a long time ago as the creek bed has washed thru it.. Nice Videos EWU Team.. very nice.
5:43 To me, it seems like a wash house. That's a great find! Given the architecture in this ghost town, it wasn't particularly thriving. I bet the mine didn't provide all that much.
That was a cool place. That one cabin was actually pretty clean. I'd bunked there. It was funny in the beginning you said "I hear strange noises" and then changed the subject. What else would you expect in a ghost town. Bet that place would be really creepy at night..

looks like it could be used for a morgue
this channel should be called "check out this guys"
Lol
if no one has been there in years why did the lamps batteries work?
of course lamp is new. batteries usually start leaking in few years and stop working. also notice very little dust on the jacket. and little dust in rooms too.

Same. Dont know how hey till have any guts left!
Maripie yes, me too lol

It kinda makes you wonder don't it
Those opening shots are mesmerizing. I love how tucked away it looks, like you could pass by a half mile away and not even see the place. Thank you EWU for showcasing this place!
As soon as you turned on that lantern I thought "Yup, somebody still lives there: I'd be leaving."
lol
nice find! for some reason im dying to know what was blurred out on that shelf in the cabin with the piano and winner signs.
Ditto!
Tatt2Shannon it was president elect trump original wig
I only blur out any information that may give away location or private information. :-)
Few good notes on the piano haha , nice to see floors without big holes in, some cool things left behind , great explore.
LOL, thank you Tracy. :-)
Nice find, thanks for sharing! Thankfully, this site hasn't been trashed, vandalized, or visited by little assholes with spray cans!
Thank you, agreed, it's nice to find places that have yet to be completely trashed.
1:01 Just a thought. Be extremely cautious when checking the pockets of unknown personal items. There might be needles or other unsafe objects in them. Better safe than sorry.
That's a good point, thanks for the tip. :-)

These are obviously hunting cabins. They are all over Nevada. You ready guys?.....lets go!! Love this channel!! 👍
That ghost town was amazing. That one building could’ve been a restaurant to meat market.
Well done. Clearly one of the best explorations I’ve seen. I think it was you narration that made the difference!
This is a great channel...really enjoy it. Keep up the good work.

Thank you. :-)
I Love that you take your kids on these expedition's
How can there be so little dust in these cabins? Crazy clean!
That was what I was wondering the entire set-up was too clean and organized with the beer bottles and other items on display..
new subbie here. this is a great channel, loving it!
Thank you for the support. :-)
very cool video and a fine job of making it. keep up the great adventures and sharing them with us
Thank you Tammy. :-)
Why you don't have farms or ranches over by there ?
Sunny Burrito we don't have anything similar to this. Farms are literally not lived on, very few farmers live on their own land!
Only thing we have is abandoned homes and mental institutions and hospitals.
Nothing as old as what you see in this video. If we did have the county's make sure to remove old unused sites and re build new homes or other people buy old land to re build!
I think that large sink was for animal slaughtering. At least there is no graffiti. Good explore.
Wow what a great video cool place there realy cool stuff , nice to see i like these videos 👍thanx for charring

The long metal sink ,makes me think that they were using it to clean and cut up meat. The one little building looked like a smoke house. Very interesting place.

Exactly what i thought. My uncle had something very similar on his farm in the 60's. He butchered pig, cow, sheep, chicken and goat.
That was an old embalming table..

For heck's sake, keep someone advised of your anticipated location, so if something occurs, you can be found. Be safe. Great, steady videos. More, please.
That grave could be from the former owner.. Awesome explore as always bro, and nice quality! ;)
Thank you my friend, and I hope to only improve more from here. I still have so much to improve upon. :-)
Maybe that "sink" was an ice tank for the cold beer?
Saludos de Mendoza Argentina 🇦🇷👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I enjoy your guys post reminds me when I was young and explored
I'm hooked. I have one question. Have you ever taken anything from one of the sites because I sure wld???
Thank you. No, I just enjoy visiting and leaving what I find for the next visitor. :-)
Neat! Looks like someone was staying in the first building.
I'm so jealous of the places you guys go lol
;-)
Not 100..OMG!! 99 maybe..
Sonic Reef I was thinking same thing smugglers from Mexico or illegally trying to get into US
Nevada is not on the border with Mexico
Looks like it was used to grow and butcher rabbits for food. The mines would be nice to explore to see what was left behind. Thanks for the post, Best Wishes n Blessings Keith
Thank you, we do plan on exploring the mine tunnels soon. :-)
Explore With Us that is dangerous if you get stuck in there no one can help you
the large sink like box you found, with the spout, is an old drink cooler. you put all drinks in there then fill it with water and ice..
you should put a small mirror at the end of a stick so when you find a bucket you don't want to take down off the shelf you can hold the stick up in the air and get a good look at what's in the bucket without moving it
Diana Felker, Thank you for the tip, much appreciated. :-)
Another great video!
Thank you Kez. :-)
Kez
Tf
U again
Them cabins were full of quality items not so long back, but Mike and Frank got there first😉
GREAT video
I THINK THE BIG SINK WAS FOR PANNING GOLD
Extremely interesting place. As you said, seems like the boy scouts haven't been around for a few years. For curiosity, noticing the Great Value products in the kitchen, it had to have been around 2009ish. This area is pretty amazing.
Obito Uchiha Thank you. :-)
Agreed, the mine wasn't too extensive, seems like it probably just produced enough to sustain itself while the town was alive. :-)
I love your videos. keep em coming. I've seen a lot of your videos, but never seen your face. what do you look like?
That was a cool place. That one cabin was actually pretty clean. I'd bunked there. It was funny in the beginning you said "I hear strange noises" and then changed the subject. What else would you expect in a ghost town. Bet that place would be really creepy at night..
Nice Camera! ;)
