The Poseidon Adventure was the first 300 plus page novel I ever read at the age of 11. I couldn't wait to see the movie, but when I did, I was disappointed. It was a good movie, but kind of a letdown.
I was also 11 in 72 and this film was a big deal at the time. It was good but I was also disappointed there were so few shots of the overturned ship. I read the book after seeing the film but don't remember it much. The film stands up.
John Williams score is terrific and really gives one a sense of being on an unstable ship headed for disaster.

Could have had more dialog between the people, could have had better exterior views and effects.
