Professor Murphy, You are a gift, a blessing to this world. I cry watching your neurology playlist esp this one. I’ve seen over a dozen specialty doctors, nobody helps me I have Tarlov Cyst, Perineural cysts in my sacrum. They eroded my sacral laminae, compressed nerves. It’s been 10 years since I was diagnosed. Understanding Wallerian degeneration and regeneration helps. You are the best teacher. I wish I knew you when you lived in Hawaii. I’m grateful finding you 🙏

@@Saigonxua1975 I am going through the same thing but my nerves were injured after the doctor administered a blood thinner. Seem like my primary doctor is running from liability by not referring me to someone that can help. The main thing i'm finding out is to increase circulation by unclogging arteries. research foods to unclog arteries. B-complex mainly choline and inositol, cq10, omega 3, anti-inflammatory foods, research low impact exercise depending on injury.

Recently had a lumbar laminectomy which was to treat my radiculopathy in addition to relieving the pressure on the spinal chord. I am living through significant motor loss in the tibialis, calf muscles, quadriceps, glute Maximus and medius. Prior to and right after surgery I walked with a significant Trendelenberg gate. So far that has cleared up. Since my tibialis and calves still do not work, your video struck many chords with me. Thanks and kudos for an informative, well organized and pleasantly presented video. My fingers are still crossed, but my hopes are up.

Omg! I just saw this after my grown son has had severe neurological problems for years. He’s had all these symptoms of nerve damage and had meningitis at 7 and 7 years ago had a severe fall onto cement and a closed head injury that took a year to heal. Why didn’t anyone check his neck??? I finally got him an x-ray on his neck and lower back and the nerves on the left side are completely blocked off. I’m trying to find a way to help him! Thank you! Thank you!

@Ilir Cami I educate myself so at least if I can’t be rid of it completely, I’ll understand it better which helps me work thru my nerve pain. Try Dr. Lorimer Moseley. There’s a lot of good pain research coming out of Australia.

I recently dislocated my knee and ruptured several ligaments and muscles experiencing foot drop and didn't really understand what was wrong with my peroneal nerve. After surgery I was told that my peroneal nerve was stretched hence the motor dysfunction of my ankle. I found a lot of information online about the Peroneal nerve and peripheral nerves in general but everything was very obscure and I was having a hard time piecing what was wrong with my nerve and how severe it was. After watching this video which covered the majority of information I found online, everything just clicked and I have a better understanding of my peroneal nerve injury(axonotmesis) and my prognosis. Thanks for this great video as it very complete and it helps understand the big picture on nerve injuries and makes me feel a bit more at peace.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I've recently had surgery to remove a Schanomma located at the intercostal nerve (Between T1/T2, about two inches from the left of the spine). It was VATs so was minimally invasive, but there has been some nerve compression around the area they entered from and also from the location of the removal site. This video really helped me understand the regeneration and recovery process. Keep up the good work.

This was amazing! I started watching this to better understand my nerve damage with MS, but while watching, thought about the farming accident I was in when I was 10 years old! I severed my tibia & part of my fibula (or give versa, small bone completely) and my surgeon stitched back together all seven tendons that were severed along with the nerves and ligaments. Very fortunate I was able to learn how to ice skate and water ski after that injury. The body is truly amazing at healing and regeneration!
