Avid makes great hardware products but add a weird twist. They don't support their stuff in the long term with new drivers and sometimes features that were working properly might not after a firmware update. Mbox Pro 3 was a superb card that used firewire but Avid's drivers were problematic rendering the volume knob inoperable under Windows 10 and never tried to fix it. Not only the knob wasn't working at all under Windows 10 (but would work flawlessly under Windows 7 for example) but the volume by default would be cranked all the way up to the max (how stupid is that?) and the only way for the user to bring it would be from the audio card's control panel by dragging the fader down. And if you were unaware of that and had already turned on your monitors then you could easily cause damage to them. Also on the same card there was guitar tuner feature that could be accessed from the card's software control panel. However after a firmware update (which was the last ever to be released) tuner simply stopped to work. And in order for becoming operational again the user should send the card to Avid were in return they'd flash (guess what) an older version of the firmware. Keep in mind the card was Avid's flagship model for home/small studio recording. Based on the above experience I'd avoid any hardware coming from them in the future.
Can you use this as a sort of a mixer to your studio monitors without using Pro Tools? For example, playing my Line 6 Stomp XL through my studio monitors.. can I keep it hooked up to inputs 5-6 on the MBox and route it direct to the Main monitor outs using the MBox Control Software Panel? And better yet, can I make that be the default behavior for Inputs 5-6?
Has anyone tried this with cubase 12 , abelton and logic. ? Also can the avid s1 controllers work with cubase. I read they can just don’t see this. On TH-cam
Good point... I have one I love it but yes a mute would be nice... Right now I turn off the 48V to turn off my condenser mic. But a mute would be better obviously.
@@jdub70 yes true... But no dedicated button. I guess there are always compromises between the size of the interface the complexity and the functions. I love my mbox studio it is exactly what I needed. It replaced my zoom L-8 mixer... I do miss physical sliders I love the array of features on the mbox. One I don't like at all so far are the effects... I think they sound terrible and are to me unusable... I was a bit disappointed... Although I don't really need them I can track with daw plug in effects with very little latency.
MIND BLOWING! Waiting for my delivery
"Yes"
How are you liking so far? I want to upgrade from Digidesign 003
@@vtown1364 There was a problem with my delivery, and I ended up canceling the order. I ended up getting the Zoom B6, which is an Awesome machine.
I have the MBox 2. I want this one so bad! Nice quick review of it’s features! 👍🏻 Left put the programmable buttons. 😉
That looks super easy to use

Surely the Bluetooth delay would prevent live recording with Bluetooth input to a prerecorded track?
Hey does anybody knows what is the lowest latency setting that can be achieved with MBox Studio and Pro Tools?
Ok I figured it out. No worries I have sound coming through my head phones now.
I can’t get sound when using Bluetooth input?

Can you use real-time effects?
Eq delay and reverb
tuner to what ? not saying
Is this too big and misshapen for field recording, portable use? Desktop queen?
Por qué no ponen un puto mute en el input. All crazy

All the inputs have individual mutes and solos.
@@jdub70 from the console? I see it in the software mixer. There is a mute button but isn't just for outputs?
@@lancerben4551 You can assign the input solo and mute function to the User Action Buttons on the console, yes.
