Hi @kelcritcarroll . Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for the comment. Believe it or not, that's a small one. I've caught some that are so fat that they couldn't turn around in the cage ;-) . I have a few traps set tonight trying to catch this one pesky groundhog that keeps eluding me. So keep an eye out for a short video tomorrow :-) . Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan

I'm learning a lot. My neighbor snd I had a ground hog last year that was eating through our flower gardens. Sometimes I'd see it while indoors and hit the window to shew it off, but of course it returned. Maybe I'll get a company to lay some traps this year. Thank you for educating us.

Hi Lucy Lemmons: Yes, groundhogs/woodchucks can cause crazy damage. Years ago, I used to do the tapping on the window too but I'm not always there to catch them :-) . You can always check to see if your township will lay out the traps for you but if you want to hire someone to do it, just want to warn you that that could be EXTREMELY expensive. In my area, they charge a few hundred bucks to come out and lay just (1) trap but they do dispose of the animal for you.
I decided a long time ago it was just too expensive to hire someone and my township won't come out. So I had to take matters into my own hands. It's really not that difficult to trap & release, as you've seen in some of my videos. So if you're having a major groundhog problem, like I do, you might want to consider it. Like I've said in my videos, groundhogs and raccoons are territorial. So once you get rid of the small family that's in your area, you should be good for the season. Then the following year, a new family will muster in on the territory and you'll have to start all over again. But could you imagine, how expensive it would be to have professionals come out and do it each time?!
I've tried every gimmick in the book to keep groundhogs and raccoons out of the garden, but I came to the realization a long time ago that trapping was the only thing that really works. So I hope this helps and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and check out some of the other videos we have on Garden Critters. Thanks for watching! Jackie & Dan

Surprising! Those are some endless tunnels, maybe they go out to the field? Glad you found that, I wonder how many decks and other structures collapse because of critters? Will you do a vid of what your "fix" is? I planted spring bulbs in stainless steel baskets at daughter's house in Atlanta last Autumn because she has gophers. She reported good flowering.

Hello AI CG: Yes, thankfully I was able to find the end of the tunnels. Still pretty deep - about 5 feet or so. I can only imagine how much damage and headaches they've caused people. Still trying to figure out about what I'm going to do to deter them. I'll definitely make a follow-up video when I do. For now, I'm just going to be more relentless with my trapping. Good idea for your daughter, whatever you have to do to keep the critters out. Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan

I like your double ended cage and using the fork to safely (for you) release him/her. I know they like multiple exits and can tunnel a long way. Interesting tunnel vid. Thanks.

Hi @karenbuckner1959 . Thanks for the comment. Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, I don't think people realize just how much damage groundhogs can actually cause. They can be pesky lil critters. Glad you liked the video. We have a few other videos on groundhogs on our channel - check 'em out. We have all kinds of critters in our yard. Thanks for watching!
