- Model: The gantry crane comes with digital operating functions. It has a plastic base and superstructure. There is also a second base plate included for extending the crane's running rails. Power supply comes through the base plate. The mechanical functions are powered by miniature motors. The crane bridge can be driven forwards and backwards, the crane cab can move back and forth smoothly on the crane tracks, and the crane cab can be turned 360. The metal hook can be raised and lowered by means of a pulley. Work lights on the crane boom can be turned on and off. There are connections for an electro-magnet and an electro-magnetic shove. The crane's functions can be controlled with the 6021 Control Unit, Mobile Stations, and Central Stations. The spacing between the crane structure's vertical supports is designed for C Track. Base plate dimensions for each base plate 360 x 360 mm / 14-3/16" x 14-3/16", Height approximately 270 mm / 10-5/8".

Love the Trix Crane. I've always wanted to buy the Herpa Container crane, but $750 is a bit too much for me. I've always thought if I built a big A frame container crane that I would use a DCC decoder and loco motor as the motors for the crane to run up and down the rails for movement back and forth. Just program 001 for both decoders, 1 for each side. Maybe have 3 or 4 big container cranes for the port.

Yeah the prices of some of the kits are crazy money,
I came across this trix crane at a give away price of £200 new it still works and I know its flawes now...

sparky107107 Thanks Sparky...track magic it a very good product it comes with mini cleaning tools...you can use other products but I fine track magic perfect for cleaning loco electro pickups etc...

Good fix. Looked really fiddly. The controller looked pretty complex too. What was the issue with the rogue gear?
TeacherTiger Yeah there are five motors in all which slot in place.The controller looks complex but it works well with the crane the base movement has a separate throttle for speed.The base units are designed to be linked to create a long yard if required.
The gear was not spinning correctly and snagging on one gear tooth.
Hi Jim, Best re-order the gear spares since the crane isn't in production any more. Do you think it would be worth while to lubricate the worm gears with white grease with Teflon to help prevent wear on the plastic gears? Good video on the steps required.
RMS55 good call...yeah I do not think they will make this crane again as it was expensive to make and sell in the shops when it came out...Not thought about greasing the gear...I have some I may try..just scared of any grit or fine ballast etc getting snagged again. .
Hi Jim is it me or have you taken the wrong end off at the beginning of the video you say it is the gearbox closest to the ladder but you change the opposite one.

No not by Marklin Trix...only Heljan and a few other makes are factory ready.
Faller make a container crane kit but its expensive.
I have the same crane my gears also bind, but I have know idea were to purchase new ones does anyone have any information on were to get them?

Best to select the part numbers you require and do a search on ebay Europe but search for the marklin and the Trix versions as they are both the same...I got my spares from Marklin direct Germany from there spares shop but if they have the parts in stock the shiping may be expensive.
