In this song Rin isn't an egoistic queen or the daughter of evil.
In this song she's only a very, very lonely girl.
If you'd like to, you should read the novels, they make the story a lot deeper. look for "Closure of Yellow" and "Wiegenlied of Green", and yes, you can find them in english.
Honestly, I feel that this version is much more emotional than the original version OR the Gero PV tune. Especially the chorus. (Sobbing violently)
Omg..I'm crying my eyes out here...It reminds me of my childhood, when my cousin commited suicide, and I barely knew him. I regret not knowing him now. I really wish I met him, so I can remember him.

As soon as I heard "Servant of Evil" melody in Len's voice I nearly started crying.....wow so emotional.
I especially love the chorus of the first instrument solo, which has the melody of Daughter of Evil. It really emphasizes the fact that Rin remembers and regrets her evil acts before. The second is just too epic and awesome to be put into words.
I heard Len's voice and I'm now crying, dang!
I just love the added part at the end (with the previous song's melody). I wasn't expecting it at all (listening from across the room) and it gave me chills.

When I heard Len's voice.. my eyes started to get all sweaty...
In my opinion, the original sounds like hot, fast, angry tears of regret and this one sounds like a deep, aching pain of loss. I absolutely love them both.
When you cry so hard... you can't sing out the words, so in all your grief you make out sounds with your voice - that hidden message, her regret, that was what I heard in the lovely last seconds of this song.

I even like the original version slightly more than this, but every now and then I feel like the ballad version is better suited... I guess the best part about vocaloid is that there's so many variations on the good/well-known songs?

It was a play based on a book similar to the Story of Evil, and was written by the same person. The title of the book was "Daughter of Evil, Closure of Yellow" However in this story Neru was the one who killed Miku not Len (It's confusing, I know). The play was called Daughter of Evil, Gemini of Charm and another fan-made play called XXX of Evil was made in April of 2010. However this information was gathered from Wikipedia so who knows whether or not any of this info is right.

This is... it's much more touching than the original - especially in the part where Len joins in briefly-, and the original is the saddest of the saga in my opinion. D:
Still, I have to be a little critical and say while the chorus is executed flawlessly, there are some parts where Rin sounds a bit static.
Other than that, this is really perfect.
Yes, I know of the books, they're pretty much the same as the story and I know Neru (Ney) allegedly killed Miku (Michaela) and blaablabablaaaaaa but thanks for the information about the play I've been searching for info about it.

this verson always makes me more sad then the original, the long instrumental parts make me think, that rin cant find the right words to descripe how greatful/ regretful she is of len T*T

@EnbitoMiruku And moreover, I forgot to say, the part where Len sings along is wonderful, as he sings with the melody from "Servant of Evil", while in "Servant of Evil - Classical version II", also by JounetsuP, Rin sings that phrase with the melody of "Regret Message". The melody swich place just like how Rin and Len switched places. It's beautiful and meaningful.
