I watch these videos more for the presentation and patter than anything since i know nothing about aviation but am somewhat intrigued by it. Your writing is improving at a rapid clip. I love your light, conversational delivery style and your dry humor. Keep up the GREAT work!
oh wow it's exactly a plane I've been looking to buy myself! I enjoyed the slick, combat-esque looks of it combined with good avionics and fun flight characteristics.
Same! I’d love to buy a vintage WW2 fighter, but a couple million dollars will probably never be in my budget for an airplane, so this is probably the next best thing.
I don't even want to buy a plane, but I enjoy learning about tech specs and economics of technology/human culture. I am a slight technology nerd (anything electronic, things that move, things that smash atoms, and architecture).
Fantastic video! A little disappointing to see such a high cost for this one, but hopefully the industry for these types of sleek high-performance planes will grow in the future.
Actually, there is a high performance plane prototype (2021/2022) called the DarkAero 1 ($150K), which should be released sometime this year. While I don't buy planes, I like learning about sophisticated technology. This DarkAero 1 has a top speed of 275 mph, a ceiling of 20,000 ft, an empty mass of 750 lbs, and a maximum weight capacity of 750 lbs. Economy speed is 255 mph, at 12,000 feet. DarkAero is located in the Midwestern USA and is operated by three young brothers apparently. This plane popped up in my recommendations. The only issue I have with this prototype is the fact that it is not up for sale yet. Lol...
@@thatguyalex2835 "this year" - that is still nowhere near being available more than 2 years later. also it's a kit plane with 1,500 hours to build if it ever actually does become available... so 1,500 (probably more) hours to build + $250,000 cost. You can buy a blackshape second hand now for $130,000 or less maybe.
The few times I've gotten to fly one of these were all lovely, definitely a very fun plane to buzz about in. My only complaint is the seats, which are little more than a thin bit of leather over a metal sheet. If you've got a bony arse longer flights could prove a tad painful but apart from that it's an absolutely brilliant machine.
There's one French ultralight that would make sense for you to check out since the aim was to offer this kind of speed for the lowest amount of money possible; the whole airplane is cheaper than a Rotax engine with a fuel burn as low as 2 gal an hour (in eco cruise around 120 kt), it's the Gaz'aile2
I'm not sure why, but I adore this channel. It probably has something to do with my dormant love for aircraft, your artwork, and of course your delivery. I really hope you make 100s of these
Have you done the cirrus vision jet? I think those in the very light category would be a very nice fit for this series. As often newbie aviators dream about the sexy turbofans while also wondering if they're worth it to them over a more standard piston or turboprop
I suggest the A380, aviation's *biggest* mistake, in more ways than one. Underutilized passenger capacity (only 450-500 seats used out of 850 in an all-economy config), Qantas engine explosion, discontinued in 2021, and a huge fuel gulper. :/
@@thatguyalex2835 I know all you've said is true, (and I sure would also like an episode on those) but man i Can't bring myself to consider the a380 a mistake. At the time they went for the design, there were some clues it could make economical sense, and airbus took the gamble upon pioneering (maybe) progress. + It's such a beauty. Forever i was way more impressed by the a380 than the 747. "its a full 2 story plane" duuuuuuuuude lol kinda hope it remains operational even if for some special missions for a long while just for it to being kept relevant
@@TheLiasas I loved the two story design also, but airlines only utilized 60% of it's rated design capacity. All Emirates, Qatar and British Airways did were use the plane to show off their luxurious $10,000 first class cabins with showers and stuff. That wasted cabin space could have been used for some economy seats. I am hoping for an 850 passenger configuration of the A380, but sadly the virus killed this plane off.
I love the emphasis you put into the word Kvass. As a Russian, controversial opinion of mine is that I didn't really like the flavor as a youngin, but maybe me being older might have changed whether I like it or not.
Your videos are absoloutely amazing, so simple and succinct, yet very well researched and very informative with a great delivery style! As someone getting into aviation it's great to see realistic long term costs to know what I'm getting in to!
This channel is interesting for the aviation stuff but also interesting as a creative model for YT content. So many people are doing the exact same format, but Complete Walkaround shows that a different approach can be equally, if not more, successful.
Check out the Dark Aero. I don't know how DA will hit their pre flight performance numbers considering how similar it is to the Black Shape but it's a slick design and has some unique build methods.
How can at Rotax-912 burn 8gph? It burns 6 gph at takeoff climb in a Sling-2 running at max power. And 4 gph at 70% cruise power. Now, the Sling-2 cruise at 95 TAS but that's 'cause they prioritized simplicity over aerodynamics, and it's fixed gear, of course. Maybe these have a Rotax-914 in them? That'd do 8 gph. Also easier to believe 148 kt cruise with an R- 914
Slovakian Shark Aero Shark a very similar cool looking aircraft. Would be nice to see a video of it, as well the Silence Twister (very cool single-seater) or the Viper Jet. Thanks!!!
Nice video ... have you taken a look at the Tucano from Flying Legends (Italy)? It's a similarly styled aircraft available as a kit. Can build one for 1/2 the price of the Black Shape with various engine options and BRS. I am building gone now, about 35% complete.
Love the videos man, straight to the point, with just enough explanation. Could you perhaps look into doing a cost of ownership of a Velocity, perhaps the SE model?
At some point it would be cool to see an analysis of all the performance and cost data you've collected, to see if there's some kind of efficient frontier for cost/performance/fun/payload etc.
I really love these videos, they put things into perspective on aircraft owner ship in a really great way! Do you think you could maybe do some sort of top 10 list at some point for the most affordable, or maybe most high performance aircraft you've reviewed so far?
Buyer beware, a close friend is in litigation with them since 8 years.... Courts in Italy, sigh... (they promised a certification within 2 months that did not happen in 8 years...). I would not do biz with them. Used plane, sure, if u like it, good video btw.
ouch ... that [1:57] "not exactly" before the operating costs hit home hard. I was thinking that exact same thing, this inky bitty plane? how high could the operating cost BE?
Now they're all hull. Some earlier videos were based solely on what current owners paid, so if more people had just liability what's what it came out as.
8gph for a rotax 912 doesn't sound right, unless you're talking about takeoff power or something. At 75%, even the less efficient carbureted models are burning like 5.5. FI models burn 4.7. 8GPH is almost O-320 level burn

Hey, Thanks!
I suggest the "robin DR400", the french equivalent of the 172, primary used in flight school over there
Yes please! I also see a few in the uk/germany
Absolutely I would love to see that
I know I've commented on a few videos but I think a Tecnam p2006t would be an awesome video example of high wing twin piston.

Do a cost breakdown on the Velocity line of aircraft! That would definetly be interesting to see.
I second this!
I absolutely love this presentation style. No BS, just right to the point and with some sarcasm thrown in for good measure.

You should take a look at the cost analysis of the Globe Swift. Often overlooked, its a classy plane at a reasonable price.
I want to ask. How do you make the graphics for this? I quite like the sharp and flat look on the planes.
Thanks! I draw them on my iPad with a 40 cent stylus
@@CompleteWalkaround a video of you making the art would be cool. Maybe at a subscriber milestone

The additional information makes the videos much better. Not that they weren't good at the first hand. Keep your work up 👍🏼
Love the videos! I'd really like to see the niche seaplane, the L-65 Seabear when you can- belly landing snow touch and goes!
This channel is amazing! i bet that if you keep posting frequently you will hit 100k subs within this year!
Would love an Extra 300 video. Those are so cool.

Thanks for the metric measurements for us none pilots :)

A Shark just completed a multi leg flight around the world recently.
Excellent videos!!! I have a request. Could you please do a video on Bristell 915is? and Guimbal Cabri G2? Like I said, love to watch your videos.
Man these videos are just so cool!! another plane I would suggest is the Daher Kodiak, would be a great bush plane/ turboprop
Please, please, please do a video on the Risen 915/Super Veloce!!! Blows the Blackshape out of the water!

Can you please do budget helicopters too? I think think they are more practical to own since you can land them in smaller private properties.
I love your videos!! I do wish you would do more common common planes though.
Got some really common planes next in the queue. Next 3 more like at least
I really really want a Boeing Steerman, any chance I could get some info?

Great videos! Please make one for the Cessna 300/400 twins...thanks : )
Love your vids!
i absolutely love your videos! is it possible you could do one about the piper cub big-wheeled variant? i don't know what the variant is called

Hmmm… This one sounds nice. My Yorkie doesn’t weigh much. I would want a ton of time with a flight instructor in a retract first though.
Nice to see the Metric units!
Beauty. Do Cessna 170b next!
Glasair III
Great plane! Glassair Super II is sweet as well
Awesome!!!
Could you do the pa28 warrior III
oh now im interested in how the other variants compare in cost

What about the Dornier Alpha Jet? One of them has been flying around me recently and I want to know more about it

how about the Aerolite 103 or the Kolbe firefly or the Moyes dragonfly
Day 4 asking for Zenith 750 Super Duty Stol
Since you mentioned Latvia, i shall subscribe.
Cessna 340a would be a cool one to do a video on
What about the Shark Aero? It looks identical to this
Would you be able to do a video on the yak-52?
Can you do a review of the pilatus pc-7? 😊
Wouldn't this have to be certified under Experimental - Exhibition or similar in the United States? Not a kitplane and not a certified aircraft.
Could you possibly do the King Air 300?
For the next video you should do the Cessna Skymaster
I'm surprised how many skymaster requests there are. I will get there for sure. Thanks for watching
JMB Aircraft VL3 (Evolution) next?
Only thing that took me by surprise was the fuel cost. BTW, did you use AVGAS or did you use MOGAS in your calculations?
Avgas. Very little difference in price between Avgas and 91octane mogas when only burning 8gal
At normal flight : 21l MOGAS, 20l AVGAS at 250 km/h 3000f
@@CompleteWalkaround I have never burned more than 23l / h.
Please do the Risen with a Rotax 915
Can you buy a black shape prime in the US?
Can you do a video on the cessna 401
Are your insurance estimates for full hull value, liability only, or something in between? Thanks.
Now they're all hull. Some earlier videos were based solely on what current owners paid, so if more people had just liability what's what it came out as.
Well, is it Blackshape or Backshape?
How did you know I want one?
Such a deal breaker regardless of cost because the useful load is so low.
8 gallons an hour? This doesn't seem right
It's probably half that
Can you do the DA42?
8gph for a rotax 912 doesn't sound right, unless you're talking about takeoff power or something.
At 75%, even the less efficient carbureted models are burning like 5.5. FI models burn 4.7.
8GPH is almost O-320 level burn

I think the JMB VL3 is a better option.
VL3 is an other plane. I would not compare with BS. both are nice
PBY Catalina when?.
Risen Superveloce next!
Looks awfully like the dark flight aero
This aircraft would be a lot more interesting with about 350 horsepower or at least a 915is.
Haha, 915 perhaps. 350hp would tear it apart!
I want to buy a douglas dc3
Diamond DA-20C1
Spitfire when?
Socata trinidad?
Do some warbirds!
