Arjun is still 15! Makes me feel like shit that him and Brandon O. are both younger than me and are on the two best drumlines in the country. Can't wait to see what they accomplish in the future
What would make for a funny meme is if the original plan called for all those right-hand 16th notes to be unison, but the part got nerfed so the snares wouldn't seem OP -either way, those are some sick beats that will make for a challenge to learn-
Andy Turner i thought that too when i first heard it. but i recently saw the music an it's actually suppose to be a flam and if you relisten to other ones there all flams. in my opinion they should just had a strong left hand release because 99% people will think it's just a sloppy release. then again im not writing music for drum corp so what do i know maybe they loved it.
@@randymarsh6477 as someone who plays all three, basses are definitely under rated, it’s really hard to do, I love them all equally, but basses deserve recognition
Anyone else notice a few parts are different from when they performed it in the actual finals? For instance they did that cool visual at the end of the split here but in finals they didn't. Also coming out of the 16th note run after the leany snare part they sticksd the 4/3 differently, here its RrrrLlll and in the video and in finals its RrrLRrrL
does anyone know where I could find the bassline sheet music for this feature? or just the drumline sheet music would work too, I've been looking for the 2014 drum feature sheet music forever, I'd hugely appreciate it!!
Anyone know if the music for this is written out anywhere? Or is It classified? I'm sure it could be figured out but... trying to figure out the tenor part doesn't sound fun to me XD
just a question (for those "experts" out there, if you dont really know, please dont try and answer. Im hoping someone thats been in this group or thats CURRENTLY involved will answer) for the tuning of the bass drums, do you guys put foam on the inside like some groups do? Or do you just have the heads on "al naturale"? Im really diggin the sound of these basses and want to mirror it for my group...
My advice is too practice making your 16th check patterns until you can't play them wrong. then whenever you want to split something just come in a 32th note later and play in time.
How do the snare drums sound in person? Lots of videos make them sound very low and maybe a bit too wet. Does it work with the entire sound of the corps?
All roads lead to BD....they probably have the highest percentage of people who come to them from other corps. And this isn't new...in 84 BD I marched with a bari who'd won with Cadets the prior year.
I'm in 8th grade and I've just started band this year I was in pit and I played electric bass but now I'm learning to play snare any tips? I hope to make to dci one day
Laughingdawg13 sorry for replying so long after you posted this, depending on what part of the country you are in, there are many All-age and open class corps you can march in. All-age corps are usually going to practice only on weekends, and its a great transition if your parents aren't too keen on you leaving for a world class tour. open class is a step up from all-age time commitment wise. almost all DCA (all-age) and DCI open class corps will help get you into the group you want to be in.
+DP Gaming / Blog I used to think these same things, I also used to be cocky and egotistical, even if you think you're on this level, constantly learn from those around you, and focus on technique, you may have the chops to play this, hell, thousands of people do, but you have to have a solid technique. Don't miss out on learning because you think you are already good enough, always practice the fundamentals, make sure those are strong and you'll stay golden ponyboy
+Zane Stackhouse nice "outsiders" reference :) And I am a snare on my JV drum line and I will admit, I'm probably the worst one on the snare line... I am also the only girl on snare, I'm in 8th grade and I'm 5' exact... I try, and what really keeps me going is everybody's attitudes to each other. We might argue about where our dots are every so often, but we will always stick up for each other and we are a big family. Keep practicing (I am only in 8th grade, so this is my third year in percussion, but oh well... I am very passionate about percussion...). That's a really good message that a lot of us need to take in, because honestly, we can get "a little bit" full of ourselves...
That's what it's all about, your passion for your instrument and the fun you're having, and when you're passionate, and you practice a lot, you'll get really good, I'm only a 9th grader, but I do have some impressive musical accomplishments under my belt, but I don't want to brag, staying humble and learning from everyone (even people worse than you, or people you don't like) will take you far, best of luck to both of you with your drumming :)

1:16 - "Holy crap stop the car! Bloo is warming up!"
Somebody was so star struck by the clean beats that they had a wreck. 1:16
Lmao I heard that
lol
Christian Smith I think that was just a tire skid
that hand to hand split between bass 1 and 2 at the end has to be one of the most satisfactory things ive heard in my life
Am I the only one that kinda misses these uniforms? :P
Bloo Eagle nope
this is my favorite drum corps uniform. the thing on their heads!
Nope. Easily some of my favorite all-time uniforms
Bloo Eagle nope me too I loved these uniforms
I miss the uniforms so much

Then how does he gets the attention since 2010?
Kelvin Chau He's been showing up to BD camps and playing w/ Scojo since he was 12.
and he's now marching Blue Devils
2:12 bass line, impressive!
People are cheering because the snares split easy 16th notes. LOOK AT THE TOP TWO FUCKING BASES! THEY ARE FUCKING GODS!!
Ikr? This problem usually occurs with most drumlines. The bass line never gets enough fucking credit!
That's because that's 1 person on each part. A snares split means it's harder to get clean cuz more people
true, but it's still not that hard to split 16th notes
Jessa Deadtoyou understandable but it's not everyday you see a 16th note split on snare drums and extremely clean
What would make for a funny meme is if the original plan called for all those right-hand 16th notes to be unison, but the part got nerfed so the snares wouldn't seem OP

Dem tenors doe
If you are in the mood watch it at 2x speed.

What's so insane, is that you can stil hear the space in the diddles.
Gotta leash. As a former snare drummer I know that had to look insane on paper!!! Very clean! Great job!
Such a great line
That bassline is amazing
my god you people make that look easy! thats incredible!
With all due respect, screw the snares the basses are fucking awesome

If your talking about the one with the long hair, I think I saw him on one of Pulses videos.

Normally, you would want to put foam on the drum
They put the foam inside the bass drums.
Actually they're using Evans MX1 Black heads - they come with muffling built in - no foam necessary. Remo heads need muffling
No they put the foam inside the drums. I marched there in 2012 and 2013

Does anyone have the snare sheet music for this?
Nobody gives 2 shits about the tenors but splits on the snare is absolutely mind boggling
What are those things on the rims on the snares called
I don’t know what they are called because we don’t use them on our line but the bottom clear plastic just helps project the snare sound forward
Nice!
What's the little switch on the side of the snares they click at the beginning of the feature?
closes the vents under the bearing edge
Owen Jarchow What does that do to the sound?
Holden Clontz Vents on makes it sound deeper, like a field drum almost. We actually had vents on our snares this year, they were nice.
bossnass010 No, those are top snares. They're newer on the Yamaha drums. Literally a snare device that presses up against the top head.
Logan Pelo no those are vents. Top snares don't open the outer side of the rim for sound.
ok the snare split 16th notes are absolutely bonkers 😟😟😟

Yes, if you walk around the parking lot and surrounding area of the stadium you go to before the performance, you're bound to find corps warming up.
If I had a dollar for every future Blue Devil on this line...
Joe Stanton lmao you'd have three dollars.
three of the snares went to BD. Why do so many Bloo drummers go to BD?
Not just Bloo...BD tends to have people from a LOT of corps going to them. In 84 BD I marched with an 83 Cadet bari.

I miss REAL uniforms!
When they gonna say goose
Corps just don’t write beats like this anymore. DCI went down hill after this year. It’s all about fancy uniforms, props, and popularity now.
I think some new shows definitely brought back some great beats :-)
Mandarins, BD 22-23, Cavvies and Boston come to mind for me
Especially SCV books over the past years definitely hit. Depends on taste, but multiple in different recent years had beats that are really dope.
Wishing you a speedy recovery from your DOMS affliction
No point in all that if the judge can’t be out there for most of it 🤷🏾♂️.
