I agree wholeheartedly. Ironically, all of us have 'those teachers' that exemplified terrible examples of the profession, there is always that one, maybe two teachers that stand out as truly amazing. These are the ones that usually have sacrificed the most to be a teacher and have the most love and passion for teaching. The thing is that Dumbledore knew that it was pointless to try to kill him because of the horrocruxes and that if he destroyed Voldemort he would came back later and he wanted Voldemort to really die this time. And I don't remember exactly (if sb does please confirm or correct.) but I think he was already cursed by wearing the ring, so if he destryed Voldemort then, he would not be alive to help Harry when Vold returned, if I am right it is 100% clear that he was just keeping Vold busy in order to get the magistry members to see him when they arrive, and he actually did.
I I think he became a teacher because after Grindelwald had killed Ariana he was scared of what power would do to him and and he might end up becoming like Grindelwald he said his self when he is speaking to Harry at King's Cross I was selfish I wanted to be great I wanted to shine
Those who question why Dumbledore was teaching DADA if he was a Transfiguration teacher, just remember that he had a very long teaching career, so is not far fetched that he had teach DADA, probably to cover for a retiring teacher.
The fact that anyone question why he was teaching anything or may he be breeding rabbits next movie is hilarious, Rowling is writing the scripts for the movies, she can create plot-holes maybe, but if she want Albus to be breeding rabbits it is canon, she's the writer and she and only she can say what she wants for every character to be. Just relax and enjoy the reading, or the movie... don't take it personal and ruin the course of events just because you think sth should be different or that for you x character would, wouldn't or shouldn't do sth the way it does.
Dumbledore sacrificed the well being of others for the greater good too. He never changed. JK Rowling always sayid all of her characters were flawed (except Luna, she said), and Dd flaws matched the greatness of his magical abilities in my opinion.
I like the fact you break down the whole Harry Potter series and give us more clearness and theories about Harry Potter, thank you for the effort dude!!
To me Dumbledore had severe PTSD, with his decision to be on Grindlewald’s side. So he never wanted to make a weighty decision again, moved mostly alone, and hid at the school.
I always imagined it to taste like butterscotch and cream on top. Yum. I remember one scene where Hermione seemed to be slightly tipsy from it. Maybe the legal age for wizards and witches is way different than ours?
Carol Mooney, ahh, yes and they can have beer before becoming adults but not firewhiskey? No, so that proves Harry Potter’s world uses a different one.
to be honest occupation choices in the wizarding world is really limited. If you don’t want to be a police, officer, teacher, shop assistance, inventor or athletes, you would than be job less.
What about a doctor? You can work at St Mungo's hospital of Magical Maladies and Injuries. There are a lot of opportunities there, you can work in a section where they treat animal bites (venom, wounds, infection etc), you can work in a section where they treat obliviated people (Gildroy Lockhart was hospitalised there after getting his memory erased), you can also work in a section where they treat cursed people (Katie was hospitalised there after getting cursed by touching the necklace). There are other options there that you can take but other then that you are right, wizarding world does have fewer job opportunities than the Muggle world.
Mac Welch He was, unfortunately, the only thing that was cool in those films, in my opinion. I knew Jude Law would be The Perfect Dumbledore. He have a very "Dumbledorish" charisma.
Theory: What if Dumbledore didn’t care about his families deaths because he was sure he would succeed. He believed he would become the master of death, and believed that he would be able to bring his family back when he did so.
Aidan Levy, Family’s* - singular possessive. Families - plural That being said, yes, I completely think that is a valid statement. Once one becomes the “Master of Death,” however, the limit of their abilities aren’t exactly known. He could then have the power to resurrect a dead body and impart a soul into it. The problem I have is that Dumbledore says there is “no spell that can reawaken the dead” with utter surety, even after having been in possession of all three Hallows.
I think that Dumbledore became a teacher because he wanted to teach the students about magic and nothing more. He loved teaching as much as he loved the students that he tought you can see it in his eyes how much he loved the students.
He loved to teach, and he loved children. He wanted to use his wisdom and skill for the greater good, to help teach the children what is good and right and how to use their magical gifts for good. The children are the future. He knew he could make a difference in the school yet doing what he loved to do and was passionate about.
Dumbledore saw Ariana's death not only as a warning to change, but also that *he* was deeply corrupted and needed to turn away from corruption and repent for his past mistakes. This is very different from Snape, who only saw Lily's death as a transgression against him and chose to change sides but never saw *his* wrong doings, bad decisions, and didn't at all repent or turn away from his arrogant, rude, selfish, and self-imposing nature. Dumbledore saw Ariana's death as *his* wrong doing, Snape saw Lily's death as the wrong doing of others. Dumbledore critically analyzed, Snape just pointed fingers at everyone around him: Harry, James, Sirius, Lupin, etc. Dumbledore's biggest lesson to us is the importance of self-control and personal responsibility, to take ownership for one's own actions, and to ask oneself: What can I do to be a better person?
What a great timing, i was going to sleep & i can't sleep without listening to your videos so when you don't upload new one i watch old videos to sleep. I really like your videos keep going. PS:- i am not saying he is boring
There's a saying in academia "you don't really understand something until you are capable of explaining it to somebody else successfully" Maybe this is also one of his motivations as part of the ambition to be one of the greatest wizards of all time which is why he valued teaching
2) I LOVED your point about how when tempted with power again in his old age he slipepd up, just once, and it cost him his life. 1) I can't disagree with your assesment of Ddore, I think he became a teacher because after seeing how Gwalds methods of creating a better future, Ddore realized teaching the next generation was the best way to make a brighter future.
I feel like teaching was his way of redemption for what he had done to his family and in his period of sadness would want to be at his true home at Hogwarts
Even I have to backtrack on Dumbledore little bit, but I genuinely think he was a good person or at least became one. But that's where we have to leave it: Albus Dumbledore is a person. People make mistakes and though it makes you question a lot of things he still did a lot of good
A rant comment here after watching the video: Want for power, great ambition, drawn to glory and domination... why wasn't Dumbledore in Slytherin?? He actually represents all the traits that Slytherin house is known for. I think if JK put him in Slytherin then we Slytherins would get a much better reputation and a great twist.. we're not all Voldemort supporters or evil ( most of the time ;)).. giving us a character like Dumbledore would've made a much more deep and fascinating edge to the story. Again the trope of all the good guys are in Gryffindor. *eye roll* hiss hiss 🐍🐍
limma90 I agree but just like Harry he had more gryfindoor(sorry for wrong spelling) and he started of differently as you see in the end Dumbledore became more brave and didn’t want to be the most powerful wizard. And during that time slythiren wasn’t a good house because of Salazar slytherin so I think he chose gryffindoor like Harry as we know the sorting hat takes your choice too but when Neville asked to be in hufflepuff he was still put in gryffindoor so many slythiren was not the right house for him
"All the good guys are in Gryffindoor" *Peter Pettingrew wave Also, to be fair, Slytherin got Snape! Who was one of the truest, if not the biggest hero in the story.
Before he even discovered his own skills & started craving power, his dad went to prison for attacking the muggles that hurt Ariana. As a young kid, he saw that standing up for family & what he thought was right might mean a personal sacrifice but was important. Even though he didn't think of himself as brave when he started school, he still valued bravery highly. The sorting hat takes your values, desires, ability & potential into account equally when deciding your house. Just like Neville wasn't brave or confident at 1st but was put in Gryffindor anyway, because inside he wanted to be brave like his parents who as members of the Order had opposed & hunted Death Eaters.
@@tamarasmith9060 All you are saying is perfectly fine about it being your choice and values and whatever. My point however is storywise and basic logic wise based. If you look at Dumbledore he possesses much more of the Slytherin qualities than any other house and he obviously cherishes them cause he uses them throughout the story to achieve his goal of destroying Voldemort and on his younger years with Grindelwald. (Family is also one of they most glossed over values of Slytherin house btw). The all bravery thing falls on it's face because slytherins can be exceptionally brave as well (just not stupid and brash about it like our favorite Gryffindor heroes sometimes can.. Harry I'm looking at you). Dumbledore took time to face him former friend didn't he? Which makes me think he was either scared to face him which is actually stated in the books and i think he was waiting for the right moment. The sorting hat doesn't always takes your choice into account (i.e Neville Longbottom). It takes true conviction to sway it's decision something that AGAIN not only Gryffindors possess if anything conviction in one's beliefs is also something that's sits in place very nicely in Slytherin house though not always for the right reasons. And finally the Order of the Phoenix i think it's better that someone who truly gets what Voldemort is about and knows his past and motivations to start an organization whose goal is to defeat him and his followers (as Dumbledore demonstrates to us in The half blood prince he knows all this about Voldemort and he knew about his death eaters too) you don't have to be a Gryffindor to oppose Voldemort or join the order. P.S where does it say his parents were brave? His father surely was hot headed i would want revenge too if someone hurt my family and if this attack meant that the family memger would be put somewhere like st.mongos many parents would go to Azkaban too and not say another word about it. His mother did what any normal good mother would do. Continue to care for her children and keeping them from harm as best she can. That's not exceptional bravery that's what being a decent parent means.. magical or not.
This all adds up to how he took an interest with Tom Riddle. He saw himself in Riddle, and must have tried to guide him, but obviously led him to the path of darkness, and then, when Harry was saved by Hagrid, Dumbledore must have seen a fraction of him, Aberforth and Ariana in Harry because both Harry's parents were murdered and if he was orphaned, Harry too could have ended up as an unstable obscurus like Credence or Ariana, and not to mention just for surviving the killing curse, Harry was practically the most famous baby at the time which would have made him even more bamboozled if he was to grow up in the Wizarding World before Hogwarts. Dumbledore leaving Harry with the Dursleys was sensible in that regard. Questionable, yes, but sensible, because the Dursleys abuse had given him all the excuse he needed to get away from them and go to Hogwarts, plus, it made him feel like a nobody, and then when he went to Hogwarts, he became a somebody. I think this is the sheer brilliance of Dumbledore, but probably wouldn't have been made possible had Dumbledore not experienced this himself beforehand.
Dumbledore realized that he was more dangerous than Grindelwald when it came to power and I think dumbledore was much more dangerous than even Voldemort himself but dumbledore chose to restrain himself his choices made him who he was
My dearest Dean. Thank for another amazing masterpiece. I've learned more about the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwall. I learn so much about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Can't wait for your next masterpiece. Sending lots of 💋😘 and 🤗❤. Happy Christmad to you and your family.
Just remember this: "Utopia or world peace is just a retarded idea, Noble intentions lead to horrific acts thus ending on the note of atrocities committed with ends justifying the means of world peace but eventually people will question the actions you justified thus leading to people fighting a corrupt system while they justify their cause destroying peace or Utopia you built thus the idea is a retarded idea that will just perpetuate violence and atrocity while Noble intentions was in reality an excuse to justify the horrific acts that builds a better world that only ends with humans killing each other in a endless cycle"- Matt Gales
He did achieve the greatness he desired just in another way, than he originally thought he would. He was essentially still the same person at his core that he was as a young man seeking worldly adventures. He may have gained some wisdom, compassion and understanding along the way as he grew older and dealt with the grief associated with the tragic events that he experienced. However he still loved Gellert, and the ambitions that he had discussed with him were still there. Dumbledore may have turned down the role of Minister for magic due to his realisation at his lust for power, and that he really shouldn't be in that position but he was also blind to the fact that with the positions he did hold, being headmaster of Hogwarts, chief warlock of the wizengamot, and supreme mugwump of the international confederation of wizards, all at the same time, (which should not be allowed btw), his lust for power was satisfied and he really didn't need to be Minister. He had a penchant for keeping secrets from people and he did alot more damage than he realised he did because he was essentially doing 3 full time jobs and performing them at subpar standard due to being stretched so thin that he couldn't really dedicate the time needed to each that they really needed. He was also delegating tasks of to others, example professor McGonagall which as a result also affected her ability to do her jobs effectively.
Katmare Sparkles I can't tell if this is positive or negative 😅 but I do agree that it should be allowed for him to have all those jobs. Also I think he didn't want to be minister of magic because he was afraid of what the power would do to him.
@@marshiemellow3232 of course he was afraid of the power being minister would give him, because absolute power corrupts absolutely. But also with great power comes great responsibility. And that in Dumbledore's case I think he subconsciously knew that if he took the position of minister that he would become a great and terrible Dark Lord just like Grindelwald and Voldemort.
One reason I think is because teaching students everything he knew would keep him from being tempted by power. It's also why he didn't want to be Minister for Magic feeling like he couldn't be trusted with power after his and Grindlewald's search for the Deathly Hallows led to Aberforth being tortured for trying to talk sense into Albus and stand up to Gellert when they said they were going to take Ariana with them and Aberforth said she was in no condition to go with them. That and Ariana's death while she was trying to stop the duel between her brothers and Grindlewald made Dumbledore realise what a monster his friend and crush really was and that Gellert wanting to rule over Muggles to stop them oppressing witches and wizards was wrong.
Well...Another reason you say? Why Voldemort wanted the hold on Hogwarts and to be a teacher? He wanted the power of influence over the young inexperienced minds. He wanted to control and shape their perspective and believes and that is equally true for our beloved Dumbo. He never gave up power. He gave up politics and put himself in a position of the greatest power. Ministers come and go but a teacher...Oh, THAT MUCH POWER!!! How could he ever pass THAT opportunity? Yep, I am not a big fan of the late Headmaster. The way he used and manipulate Harry was...ugh. But the way he used and manipulated Snape...Oh, that was just whole other level of perversion. Snape was never a saint but he also never deserved someone to toy with his emotions like that, to use his love and guilt. As if knowing that he had played even a small part in his beloved death must have been unbearable to live with. And Dumbledore playing with these feelings...it's disgusting!
@@WilliamsBeMe Maybe it is but there is a big difference between using someone feelings and make them sacrifice themselves (again for the greater good by the way) and motivate someone to achive a certain goal.
Oh yeah, Snape deserve it! For being the one Who told the prophecy to Voldemort. He deserve it. He joined Dumbledore just because he wanted him to protect Lily, only Lily. Deathly Hollows page 677. Thanks God, Dumbledore used him as he does, at least he contribute to distroy Voldemort in the end. Ce colporteur de ragot!😤
@@gayouj-b3554 No. He didn't deserve to be used that way. Yes, he was responsible for telling Voldemort about half of the prophecy but not for the Dark Lord's choice to go after the Potters. And yes, of course, he wanted to protect only Lily! He loved her. Honestly, why on earth he would want to protect James - the man who bullied him for so long? Yes, he owned him his life, but it's not like Snape was going to kill him himself. You can't blame someone for his feelings. And yes, he turned against Riddle taking a huge personal risk to protect the woman he loved and from that should have benefited the whole family if wasn't for that dirty rat Pettigrew! As I said, Snape is not a saint. He made mistakes, he made bad choices. But I can't even begin to imagine the pain and guilt he felt when realizing what his service to the Dark Lord resulted in. Again, as I said, Snape can't be held responsible for the choice Riddle had made. He couldn't have known. But he could just stay quiet, do nothing and hope Voldemort will respect his plea. Snape knew though, he can't trust someone so obsessed with becoming the greatest and most powerful wizard to be known. He sought help from the only person Voldemort was truly scared of - Albus Dumbledore. Snape actually respected and admired that man. And Dumbledore mercilessly used his own feelings against him. Nobody deserves that. Snape couldn't change the hatred and resentment he had for James. He shouldn't treat Harry like that. But we are not discussing his emotional traumas but the choices the Headmaster made. And as Dumbledore himself once said, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” And he chose to twist and turn Snape's feelings against him. After Voldemort disappeared and Snape was willing to quit, truly believing Harry was safe, it was Albus who highlighted the fact the boy has HER eyes. I hate him for that moment the most. There is also manipulating Harry and locking Sirius in that damn house. Oh, and Ignoring Harry when everybody was against him. preferring to play theories and make suggestions. And after that FORCING both Harry and Snape with that oclumancy charade. Albus knew Severus can't be objective with Harry and he should have known the boy won't able to trust his teacher and open his mind for him. Still, Snape did everything in his power to help Harry, to save him, to give him the knowledge to survive and protect him. He tainted his soul by killing Dumbledore. It was mercy in his condition but it doesn't mean it wasn't a burden for Severus to do it. Snape lacked emotional intelligence otherwise he wouldn't treat that way - punishing him for being James's son. If Snape was more emotionally intelligent he would have been able to overcome the bullying and I'm saying that of a position of a person who was bullied at school and knows what it feels like. If he made different choices maybe Harry could have been his and Lily's son and that kills him from inside. Snape knows what he did and knows how wrong he was but wasn't strong enough to look beyond the past. Still, that does not excuse the Headmaster to use his love and guilt in such a manner. And to be SO surprised that even AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS Snape loves Lily. She was the love of his life and nothing will change that. He loved her to his last breath. Dumbledore had no right to tarnish Snape's feelings with his manipulations. Again for the greater good.
About your question, well no, you got that right, he wanted to help the youth not becoming what he was, and also influencing from a humble position, not one where he had power, because he knew power corrupted him. About the thing of the latest days Albus, well yeah, I can picture him as a dark wizard, that was what he were becoming, and he got darkness in him, he ultimately sicks the greater good, at last, by making harry survive until Voldemort could kill him and therefore distroy his unplanned sort of horrocrux. He doesn't get on voldemort way unless it affected his plan, like the time he saved harry at the ministry. Although he managed to controll himself, there was a lot of darkness within him, he just chouse to controll that dark side... Great video! =D
Hey, can you do a video why Dumbledore never told Harry about living in Godrick's Hollow? I guess it didn't really matter to him, but Harry was obviously gutted for never being told. Also another video suggestion: How was Snape able to enter Hogwarts to chat with Dumbledore's portrait about the plan of Harry leaving the Dursleys? Third and last: Would Snape have made the Unbreakable Vow had Dumbledore not been cursed by the Ring?
Applause!👏, Fantastic job as always. to answer your question I don't think any other explanation was needed as to why Albus Dumbledore went into teaching.the explanation that was given in the deathly hallows when Harry has I guess out of body experience and is talking to Dumbledore that that was reason enough and it never dawned on me why he didn't become minister. Keep up the awesome work you continue to do.
Teaching also gave him a certain power. Similar to Horace Slughorn. Ultimately, I agree with you. I believe of things are motivations for him taking the teaching route. It was more than just just his sister. He ensured his responsibilities were beyond himself. Aberforth might disagree...
I find it incredible that the only difference between Voldemort and Dumbledore is one realisation otherwise Dumbledore would’ve ended up down the same path
I'm with you in everything you said, I think that Ariana's death snapped him out of this lust for power he was feeling, and the eternal reminder of his terrible mistakes was his crooked nose. Remember that, the day he buried his sister he also lost his brother (the last family he had), as Aberforth never forgave what he did and what he became, and loathed him for it! (Why do you think a wizard as talented as Albus Dumbledore wouldn't fix his broken nose if it wasn't a reminder of the destruction he caused to his family?). I think that's why he became a teacher, he wanted to help young wizards to avoid following his own path, and I think that's the reason why he never tried to stop Tom Riddle, because Dumbledore recognized all those things you mentioned (6:15) in Tom (I think that's why Dumbledore apologized to Voldy the night he went to Hogwarts asking for the DADA teacher position). However, I don't think Dumbledore ever stopped working "for the greater good", but he realized that the greater good wasn't his personal good but the general one. He even sacrificed his life and many others (even Harry Potter's) to put an end to Voldemort's reign of darkness for the greater good!
I agree with some of these points but I think part of why he joined Gillart was because he was still mad about the muggle attack. Felt they should be below them.
Dumbledore was one who identified his weakness and avoided putting himself into situations where his weakness would be exploited. He could have felt that he was called to be a teacher of young witches and wizards.
How does a wand know when to change allegiance? For example, when practicing Expelliarmus on friends, the wands do not leave the master. But when using Expelliarmus on an enemy, the victims wand changes masters.
Dumbledore, in spite of his flaws seemed very good at teaching students. If he could prevent other young witches and wizards from repeating his mistakes they could go on and achieve the greatness he wanted. Perhaps he lived some of his dreams when his students did well.
It was only a stalemate with Voldamort because he refused to kill with the Elder wand and that Harry was there and he was trying to keep him safe at the same time as duel Voldamort. Now take those two factors away and I think Dumbledor would've taken Voldamort out without any problem. Oh I almost forgot he put way too much stock in the Chosen one prophecy and thought only Harry could kill Voldamort for good. And with Harry being a Horcrux stopped Dumbledor from being able to kill Voldamort for good. But he could've destroyed his new body and delayed Voldamorts plan for who knows how long. Giving both himself more time and Harry more time to prepare for the final fight with Voldamort.
He became a teacher because he knew the qualities of love, evil, manipulation he loved gelert Grindelwald for Merlin sake so he know what evil was and how it started he was young and dumb and that's what made him wise. He wasnt stupid and he knew that he could help these kids .
Think this is your best video yet! Very well explained and thought out. Just according to what you said, that he ran away from power, why did he take the position of headmaster and not just stay a teacher?
You should do a video covering what you think Dumbledore‘s And Voldemort‘s prophecies would have been!! It has me curious the only one that was brought up was Harrys. Did all witches and wizards have one? What about other countries? Did Grindelwald have one as well?

There are a lot of opportunities there, you can work in a section where they treat animal bites (venom, wounds, infection etc), you can work in a section where they treat obliviated people (Gildroy Lockhart was hospitalised there after getting his memory erased), you can also work in a section where they treat cursed people (Katie was hospitalised there after getting cursed by touching the necklace). There are other options there that you can take but other then that you are right, wizarding world does have fewer job opportunities than the Muggle world.
Don’t forget curse-breaker and reporter
Also, you can be a politician, a bus driver or you can be the driver for the Hogwarts Express.
Hey, you can tend to Dragons in eastern Europe if it's that bad..
I don't blame Dumbledore for hating muggles, after what they did to his sister. I'd be having a hard time not hating them.
dumbledore became a teacher to teach everyone how to control their magical abilities because nobody taught ariana.
I Think that is True !
I could see that real easy
Part of the reason he took Lupin in I think.
I still almost can't believe what Dumbledore almost did in his past.
I have never really liked the last book because it shows that the Dumbledore we knew in the first six was never really him at all.
@@emankcin1701 it was really him. We just had a better understanding of how he thought
@@kemj9 Yeah true I see it now.
Jude Law as Dumbledore was very cool
Is that a movie ?☹😮
N F Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindlewald
Mac Welch He was, unfortunately, the only thing that was cool in those films, in my opinion. I knew Jude Law would be The Perfect Dumbledore. He have a very "Dumbledorish" charisma.

Theory: What if Dumbledore didn’t care about his families deaths because he was sure he would succeed. He believed he would become the master of death, and believed that he would be able to bring his family back when he did so.
Aidan Levy, Family’s* - singular possessive. Families - plural
That being said, yes, I completely think that is a valid statement.
@@chrisortega7521 so he probably tried and it wasnt what he thought it would be, right? that's what i believe, anyway
He literally says this to Harry. He wanted the Resurrection Stone to bring back his parents and free himself of responsibility for his siblings.
@@chrisortega7521 nobody cares about your correction dude

I think that Dumbledore became a teacher because he wanted to teach the students about magic and nothing more. He loved teaching as much as he loved the students that he tought you can see it in his eyes how much he loved the students.
*i dont need sleep, i need answers*
Sounds like a tweekers response lol
He loved to teach, and he loved children. He wanted to use his wisdom and skill for the greater good, to help teach the children what is good and right and how to use their magical gifts for good. The children are the future. He knew he could make a difference in the school yet doing what he loved to do and was passionate about.
I hate when good videos like this are posted and you’re not able to watch them until you get home.
That’s why I never leave my room

There's a saying in academia "you don't really understand something until you are capable of explaining it to somebody else successfully"
Maybe this is also one of his motivations as part of the ambition to be one of the greatest wizards of all time which is why he valued teaching

I love how you have been diving into the minds of the people in this world, it has been fascinating and I can't wait for more!! =]
Amazing video!!!!! Just subscribed!!!!!!!!! This really showed the true Dumbledore. But in the end, he learned from his mistakes.:)
A good man who walks the path of corruption can eventually walk the path of redemption. Dumbledore is awesome.
I feel like teaching was his way of redemption for what he had done to his family and in his period of sadness would want to be at his true home at Hogwarts
MOM is like the president, now if only that same logic was the standard with Dumbledore choosing to not side with position
Even I have to backtrack on Dumbledore little bit, but I genuinely think he was a good person or at least became one.
But that's where we have to leave it: Albus Dumbledore is a person.
People make mistakes and though it makes you question a lot of things he still did a lot of good
A rant comment here after watching the video:
Want for power, great ambition, drawn to glory and domination... why wasn't Dumbledore in Slytherin??
And during that time slythiren wasn’t a good house because of Salazar slytherin so I think he chose gryffindoor like Harry as we know the sorting hat takes your choice too but when Neville asked to be in hufflepuff he was still put in gryffindoor so many slythiren was not the right house for him
"All the good guys are in Gryffindoor"
*Peter Pettingrew wave
Also, to be fair, Slytherin got Snape!
@@HEagle72 OK pettigrew is an outlier and they still associated him with slytherin ( hmm hmm slytherin version of the POA cover)

Thanks for the content!!!
Keep up the great work!!!!
Merry Christmas!!
Dumbledore is one of the best characters in harry potter which says something in a universe full of them
Dumbledore realized that he was more dangerous than Grindelwald when it came to power and I think dumbledore was much more dangerous than even Voldemort himself but dumbledore chose to restrain himself his choices made him who he was

Dean: mentions "the greater good"
My mind (chanting): THE GREATER GOOD
Just remember this: "Utopia or world peace is just a retarded idea, Noble intentions lead to horrific acts thus ending on the note of atrocities committed with ends justifying the means of world peace but eventually people will question the actions you justified thus leading to people fighting a corrupt system while they justify their cause destroying peace or Utopia you built thus the idea is a retarded idea that will just perpetuate violence and atrocity while Noble intentions was in reality an excuse to justify the horrific acts that builds a better world that only ends with humans killing each other in a endless cycle"- Matt Gales
Dumbledore was a goat wizard. Another great video Dean keep up the good work and great commentary as always
He had auburn hair goddamnit!!!
I know! Was it really that hard to find an actor with auburn hair. They could've at least given the actor a wig.
Great video Ive seen so many of your videos and really enjoy them lots of cool little facts keep them coming 😀
Everyone is capable of great good and bad. It makes him more interesting, that's for sure
Well everyone manipulates everyone. Motivation is manipulation, is encouragement, is persuasion. It's all a manner of perception.
One of my favourite scenes in all the movies is the battle with Voldemort Dumbledore was badass!!!
As always, great video. Keep up the great work.
Such a complex character he is! Thank you for your videos, they're always interesting!

I think you hit all the important reasons on the head. Good job mate
This is my favorite one that you have done. Good job.
Love the video, and the video of the three way battle!
Dean absolutely spot on! I love your videos! great job!

Very insightful as always.
Do a comparison video on Aberforth and Albus. Who was the better wizard
Thank you so much for this information.... Awesome.... YAY.... NUMBER 1 Always...
Much appreciate your work
Love your vids brother
Dumbledore was one who identified his weakness and avoided putting himself into situations where his weakness would be exploited. He could have felt that he was called to be a teacher of young witches and wizards.
Dumbledore is such a great character
How does a wand know when to change allegiance? For example, when practicing Expelliarmus on friends, the wands do not leave the master. But when using Expelliarmus on an enemy, the victims wand changes masters.
Dumbledore, in spite of his flaws seemed very good at teaching students. If he could prevent other young witches and wizards from repeating his mistakes they could go on and achieve the greatness he wanted. Perhaps he lived some of his dreams when his students did well.
3:53 we know who he is. Also that random dude in Harry’s rescue party in 1995
It was only a stalemate with Voldamort because he refused to kill with the Elder wand and that Harry was there and he was trying to keep him safe at the same time as duel Voldamort.
Great video
Best explanation ever
He became a teacher because he knew the qualities of love, evil, manipulation he loved gelert Grindelwald for Merlin sake so he know what evil was and how it started he was young and dumb and that's what made him wise. He wasnt stupid and he knew that he could help these kids .

Dumbledore sounds like he should have been sorted into Slytherin for being so ambitious.
You should do a video covering what you think Dumbledore‘s And Voldemort‘s prophecies would have been!! It has me curious the only one that was brought up was Harrys. Did all witches and wizards have one? What about other countries? Did Grindelwald have one as well?
