    I'm a project manager. I started as a bricklayer. I'm from a poor, settled travelling family. I was a site manager for many years and went to uni as a mature student for the PM degree. It's not about colour. Or background. It's about being able to cope. And being good at what you do. And also being culturally aware...like...you need to learn how to act, collaborate and hold yourself. You have to grow into a mature adult and be responsible...and promotion comes quickly. Salaries are great too. But no one gives a f*ck about your background or heritage. Ive got one of the worst thought of blood lines in travellers. I have a criminal record. I was trouble when i was a bricklayer. Drugs alcohol fighting. None of it has effected my progression when i finally grew up!!!!! You don't get something for nothing. Be the person for the role and the role will come.

    • @mattjagger4360
      @mattjagger4360 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The most recent study said that the most likely people to recommend construction were ethnic minority groups. So...its just the man keeping people down with a perception. No one in construction gives a flying f*ck what colour you are. If you are competent...you get the job. Simple as. It's a ridiculously tough career...is likely why. More than anything else. I know at least 30 white people that aren't in construction management roles anymore. Gone. That's not looking good for it being a 'white mans' job is it. That difficult all the white people are leaving 😂😂

    Hi sir,
    finally I'm writing my thoughts down here. Your channel has really inspired me. I spent a whole day going through your videos when I was preparing interviews for a site engineer role abroad, I'm soooo excited about this role. Even though it is true, I didn't realise how much this industry is worldwide saturated more importantly, how this has an effect on the everyday life of Indian engineers I grew up in India and 7 years before completed my B.TECH(CIVIL- ENGINEERING) and now I am doing normal civil engineer job in india !! This is so embraced and I feel this is a headache I still can't move abroad
    I am trying it. I want to encourage Indian engineering students, especially those from the Indian community and with lack of English barrier and also it being their second language, to follow their dreams to become an engineer in Abroad.
    Only one chance to give me I will perform definitely

    I have been in construction since I left school I’m 25 now, I have NVQ level 2 from college in groundworks and general construction (blue CSCS) I’m going to soon upgrade my 360 CPCS red to a blue skilled operative and then later on in next couple years go for the SSSTS, be a groundworks foreman then work my way up to site manager. I feel there’s more garnered respect from those below you if you’ve been there and done it in a few aspects of construction, no disrespect to the people who have uni degrees in various construction areas but I know what people say about those who have gone straight from uni to being above them.
