I like how in the first story he was worried that the incident might provoke a war. I bet the incident became nothing more than a footnote in the local human news. "And finally, an astrominer from the Talareth Mining Cluster came into an unusual mix of poorly equipped vessels trying to pass for being pirates. In what the net would later describe as an "Uno-Reverso" the would-be privateers have now gained forceful employment within the Mining community. No local pirate groups have come forward to claim responsibility for the attack. Officials declined to comment citing an ongoing investigation. As a friendly reminder to all you spacefarers; if you are travelling through the border regions, stay up to date with local travel news and of recent territorial disputes or pirate attacks. And from everyone here at BNN, stay safe out there."
The Sun Tzu is clear: the general should work to keep the emperor weak and distracted with domestic trivialities so that he does not try to interfere with military matters. They also harvested a bunch of kings, emperors, and conquerors. They would have done better with the likes of Washington, Grant, Lee, and Patton.
The realization that "the art of war" is essentially Sun Tzu trying his hardest to pad egos while telling them not to do something in an "as per my last email" type of ordeal is rather funny to me lol
Story 1: Hopefully, those ships contain some platinum group metals. Iron, cobalt and nickel are cheaper to extract from asteroids and ceramics are really not recycleable. Story 2: If they used Khalid ibn al-Walid, they _really_ screwed up.
@@Controlled_Insanity_003 i'd like to know too, sadlly around here we know more of European leaders and Gengis Khan than any other placearound the world (to note: i was pretty bad in my history lesson but still). Edith Piaf: after one quick youtube video, Khalid ibn al-Walid seem to be a great general in the founding year of Islam
Khalid ibn al-Walid was one of the greatest commanders of the early Islamic expansion. He defeated armies of the Sassanid and Byzantine Empires in Iraq and Syria. He fought over 100 battles and never lost. Muhammed called him 'the Sword of Islam.' To those who know of him, he is considered one of the best commanders of all time. However, his mission was to conquer in the name of Islam, so the aliens would all be Muslims now
Story 1: "You're playing soldier with these toy ships? Seriously?" Story 2: "So, you think you are 'using' me? I'll build my own empire with plenty of gold and starships!"
The second story is why you want the leaders who were great at their job and respected the institutions they were fighting for. Preferably more democratic institutions.
Miner was laughing till the crew of the captured ships got in contact with a human lawyer Forced indentured crew of 23 new races who had no idea their leader was carrying out an illegal action. Will never hold up in court 😋
really all the miner would have had to do to make it legal would have been to give minimum wage, or even just credits that can only be used at a company store and put a non fatal termination clause in place. Also your teaching them a trade, after doing it for 20 years if you gave them a half decent life, they 9 out of 10 will just stay, and believe me, teaching new people is not cheap. Also 23 new races that you could find things they like from human goods, merchants would pay top dollar for that info.
Thanks for the laughs! I'm still chuckling over story 1. Best to gather intel before attacking an unknown enemy. I've saved it to my Humor folder. Now, on to story 2.
lol two great stories of clueless aliens i'd like to know where the 'federation' came from and how they survived to this point can you imagine the human reaction, especially the military, to finding out these aliens collected the greatest military minds [as far as we know] and resurrected them? historians might love it but the military will want intensive training and upgrades thanks for the narration
I'm just imagining Julius asking how his nephew took care of the Roman people, finding out about Octavian's rule, and subsequently giving him the scolding of a lifetime. "They accused me of being a king, so you became Emperor!? We raised you better than this!"
I like that all of these are a bit over confident on human pros. but very needed, this age the average human is discouraged or pessimistic lacking the motivation or kindness. its good to hear stories on what we could be if we thought about our past and built on it
Charlemagne was a particularly good choice as administrator to keep power. In most ways, he was the zenith of the middle ages, keenly advancing learning.
Story 2: They'd have been better off grabbing Belisarius. One of the greatest Generals mankind has ever produced, and unswervingly loyal to an Emperor who both feared and hated him.
First story LMAO a mining ship able to mop the Aliens floor, Cannot even sell the ships too weak, Second story oh great lucky they didn't use Hilter as Neploan was bad enough but not a good idea taking great minds as they might actualy be evil or other things.
I wouldn't expect a failed Austrian artist to possess a military brilliant strategic mind in the first place, lol. If he did, Nazi officers wouldn't have tried to assassinate him, let alone Allied special ops forces thwarting assassination attempts. That's how bad he sucked at military. If anything, the aliens would've downloaded Eisenhower's mind instead.

I just got into these videos, and have very much enjoyed them, but the voices seem to have gotten more and more stressed to the point of sometimes becoming hard to understand and almost harsh. Don't sacrifice enunciation for extreme variance in pitch. (If "pitch" is the right word.) Otherwise, thanks for the videos!
I am sorry I started listening to these short SIFI story a few days ago. I enjoyed them, with the different voices and renditions being done. Now though it has changed with seeing you and your facial changes reading during the presentation has undermined my own mental vison of the story being told. So, I will be listening to other storyteller’s tails going forward. I think you have undermined your ability to tell the story by injecting your physical presence to it, Tom
This looks like honest feedback, though many would disagree. Diffrent strokes and I think creators need reflection from their audience. If you like the stories without image, there is a backlog of stories you may be able to enjoy. Best regards.
Nobody's forcing you to watch him on the screen while he's narrating. And if all you want to do is listen, he has the best voice for listening compared to other storytellers. At least in my opinion, and I believe the majority of the other people on here.
1st story: Imagine if they bumped into an actual military ship. "I'll give you a warning shot. *POOF* Hey, where did they go?"
This time it was mining equipment, next time it's agriculture - Oh! Great! Fertilizer!
@@ehsnilsConsidering the amount of farm machinery that could make mulch out of somebody, that's a bit disquieting.
A warship might not have stronger weapons than an asteroid miner's cutting tools but man they have a lot more of them.

Excellent post, the author ought incorporate it into the story.
It's so much better to listen to someone read these than some crappy TTS bot. Helps that you have a nice voice too.
Two more great stories read by the premiere voice on the internet. Thank you AS for your voice talent.

Fuel ratting? That has nothing to do with combat, but if you like space games then you know what it is.
