Denver Broncos Latest Signing Is Kinda Baffling...

- The Denver Broncos are 0-2 after a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Their starting Right Tackle Mike McGlinchey suffered a significant MCL sprain and is out at least the next 4 weeks. Our offense has struggled to move the ball when it counts. It would seem as if Sean Payton would be scouring the NFL for a player who can help us on offense. Maybe a right tackle, maybe a playmaker to help Bo Nix develop in his rookie season...instead they actually signed a player at what is arguably our best position on the team...defensive line. Zach Allen was one of the top graded players in the entire NFL last week, the week before is was Jonathan Cooper...Jonah Elliss has shown some great flashes and like he was worthy of the position we drafted him in. Drew Sanders is supposed to return from injury by end of October. This offseason they signed UFL star Dondrea Tillman. This seems like a loaded position group yet the Broncos doubled down today adding another pass rusher to the Vance Joseph arsenal by signing former Los Angeles Charger Andrew Farmer. Do you think the Broncos should have added another position to this roster?

Agreed, alot of blame to go around, running game, dropped passes, maybe some play calling and were still competitive.
I mean, they keep game planning Nix to short game it...until the last few drives. Time to drive him like a Ferrari for a few drives early in the game to see how does. Oh, can we scheme a better run game? Asking for a few million friends...

These comments explain why so many felt if Elway drafted Josh Allen no chance he succeeds here. Zero patience and investment into developing players. As Mr. Bowlen stated only “ONE standard - winning Super Bowls”. This is any investment and development year along with clearing 80M cap mistake. If the objective is SB we acquire talent, develop talent, clear cap space. And if you have crappy records doing so it only fits the acquiring more talent with higher draft picks. Lets pretend we are smarter than Bills fan and have some patience.
Well said I just have to stop making predictions. The thing is, the season is not over. This is not college football. One, two losses does not sink the season. And even if it does but Bo reaches his potential by the end of the season, then it is not a lost year. We cannot believe that Bo is a perfect fit for Payton and then abandon Payton. The reason we have gone so long without a playoff appearance is because of all the upheaval. We need some consistence. With coaching, QB, GM. We have the GM and now we have the coach and QB. Give it minute to work!

I have been a fan for 50 years. I don't think it is "hating" or being "pessimistic" to recognize where this team really is from an overall perspective. I knew going into this season that the foundation is still being built and that the roster is not a true playoff contender. Damn near every real analyst knew it. Losing all of those draft picks and being in cap hell affects the timeline of the rebuild. I got news for fans. We probably are not going to the playoffs next year either. Once that RW money is off the books, we will be in a better position to be a contender.
Two things can be true... Bo Nix will be a good QB, Payton is a bad coach for this team. Harbaugh is toughing up the Chargers with not that much better talent then us. Where is our run game? We invented the modern run game that most other teams adapted and we abandoned. I got my eye on Kubiak's kid... Keep it in the family...

Their defense is loaded. Harbaugh did the smart thing and signed guys that could run through the tackles so Herbert didn't have to do the heavy living. They also have a significantly better O-line. So yeah, much better talent...and it's not close.

Chargers defense is loaded but the offense is equivalent to us. Harbaugh is just a better coach and they have the guy at QB. The offensive scheme is light years better. Broncos has some major work to do to even be relevant

@@SportsTalkDenver I don't think we play a single bad defense on our schedule for this season except for the Panthers, but there's no reason we shouldn't be able to score enough points to win these games, even with a mediocre or even bad offense. Defenses aren't that good, there's only offenses that are that bad. The fact that an offensive guru like Payton couldn't get that team to score more than 3 points last week is alarming, and although we don't have the talent we thought we had, there's still no reason we couldn't at least score 16 points.
This team is the third most dysfunctional team in the NFL, only the Panthers and Browns look more dysfunctional than the Broncos. I don't understand this signing at all and I honestly have lost all hope for this season. This season is going land us a top five pick the way the first two weeks have gone. 0-4 looks like a real possibility, I would be shocked this team wins in Tampa. A possible win could be the Jets but even that is a huge possibility with an *. The fact that our fastest WR Marvin Mimms is being under used on top of top pass catching TE not catching the ball with our lackluster run game is giving me 0 hope for this team wining more than six games unless there are a few lucky plays by the defense. At this point it is time to use Krull as our pass catching TE, Tyler Badie as our first down back, Mimms needs more targets ASAP, and Javonte needs to be our third down back.
John Elways brother-in-law is in charge of pro scouting for the Broncos. He has held that position for a long time. This franchise is a joke.

The Browns are the second best chance for a Broncos victory, but they have a nearly great defense, and should have Chubb back by the time we play them. Maybe we luck into a win against either LV or LAC in the division, and if KC already has the top seed locked, then there's a slight chance of that game, though unlikely, but the only team we really play without a top level defense and a hot-and-cold offense is ATL, but every game this season is against teams with more talent or a top-tier defense. The two games we just lost were two of the best opportunities for a win, and they didn't get it done, and haven't shown signs of being able to get it done thus far.
@PaulBuccigrossi I can realistically see us winning only one game. Looking at the rest of this schedule, I don't even think we win two games. We've had bad offenses for a decade now, but literally any other year, we would be 2-0 right now.

Nix is a rook…give him the support he deserves. Elway lost six in a row his rookie year, he was garbage but he was allowed to mature and eventually become a franchise QB. I don’t agree with the play calling but I’m not the coach, it seems Payton has forgot that we play at 5280 and if you run the first twenty scripted plays from scrimmage using a hurry up offense and don’t give the defense time to get off the field will soften up anyone out there.

Sean Payton needs to hand the play calling over to Joe Lombardi and then work on being head coach!! The play calls are so erratic and strange you couldn't imagine what Bo Nix is feeling like right now!! For any quarterback in the NFL in 2024 with defenses being the dominant side of the ball must use play action and read option or you're going to have the exact results Bo is having!! The play calling in the preseason had much better flow and balance.. yes I know it's not starters in preseason but as far as how an offense functions you could tell Joe Lombardi had a very good plan

Well here we are but losing the first two games is not that big of an issue long term but Bo looks dejected and that is a huge issue, Zach Wilson found a way to hurt himself sitting the bench so dont know what that is all about. The losses were expected but Bo being the worst QB in the last ten years is going to improve. Too early to pull the plug on Bo but he must have a good game against Tampa. As for Sean he needs to find a way to win in Tampa or the bleeding could last till he is eventually fired.

I have said this multiple times on each and every channel I listen to for the Denver Broncos. The reason the national media and local media in Denver attack the Denver Broncos is because of their head coach Sean Payton. Sean Payton is politically conservative and has a lot of friends that are high-profile conservatives .. I don't really care what anyone else's political ideology is but you all can understand how insane the mainstream media is towards conservatives.. to be a conservative is an unforgivable crime for these people.. we know that the national media doesn't tell the truth about anything. That was with a QB that couldnt throw, scramble, pass over the middle, see over his linemen, etc. and receivers who couldnt catch. He got us a top 7 O-Line in one offseason, broke our losing streak to the defending SB champion Chiefs, got us a 5-game win streak against some of the toughest teams that everyone else swore we would lose to, got us plenty of absolute steals in the draft, made great free agency signings and trades, and so on.
I agree this team is horrible rn and Sean's playcalling is laughable atm, but he's definitely proven himself. He's just throwing it all away these first couple games.
Also, in Wilson's defense, he had Hackett for an OC, a nonexistent O-Line, and a bottom 5 offense for that last year. Not entirely his fault for the most recent year. Also, he should've been benched far sooner. He never got the chance to actually develop as a rookie coming into the league. Jets kind of have a reputation for that.
