    After many failed attempts at one doctor trying to put me on antidepressants. Which I absolutely hated! I started Vyvanse and it's completely changed my life. It's a game changer in the best way possible. Thanks for the video.

    Twitching or soreness can be helped by magnesium supplementation. Stimulants deplete magnesium, and replenishing it can help with catecholamine regulation, as well as cardiac regulation and skeletal muscle relaxation. Also, your approach to treating secondary depression is spot on! Depression is almost always a surrogate marker for a deeper psychiatric issue. A lot of physicians treat the presentation or manifestation of something more intricate. Very intuitive thinking.

    Bro! I literally was from straight ABUSING ADDIES for a while (at a huge video editing job) to make deadlines and get promoted. I loved it, but too much and made the switch to Vyvanse 40mg. I am not high anymore or anxious and surprisingly loving it! Game changing medication (especially name brand) .
    Great insight on ADHD being the underlying cause of depression, I can relate,

    I was on Adderal and it was a horrible experience, some people like the euphoria of it but this was the part that affected me the most because it would raise my anxiety level tremendously. After switching to a different provider he suggested Vyvanse for both ADHD and BED and it has been a life changing experience, I am so grateful that my doctor suggested Vyvanse and like you say I broke up with Addie!

    Just starting Vyvanse today after my GP gave me 8 anti-depressants and an anti-psychotic (not all at once) which had zero effect other than being left disappointed. Finally went private (we have a National Health Service in the UK) and got diagnosed with ADHD...knew it all along and feel like depression was caused by sheer frustration at my mind being constantly muddled and not reaching potential in any areas of life... Starting on 20mg for 2 weeks then 30 mgs for 2 weeks before 1st review. Fingers crossed this is going to be a new beginning...really hopeful to get some good results as you have. Great video. 👌

      It gets me so annoyed that lot of docs would rather treat depression and anxiety without ever questioning WHY is the patient feeling that way. Obv if you have ADHD getting assignments and tasks done is gonna be hard so obviously it can lead to anxiety if you're stressing over all this procrastination. Some doctors really don't use their brains 🙄

    I’ve been on vyvanse for a week now. I feel focused and very calm. I feel so zoned out and physically tired when it peaks. I haven’t taken adderall for 15 years now but I remember it worked so well. I also take lamictal, if I skip a day I go into a depressive episode.

  • @catarinabessel6874
    @catarinabessel6874 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Vyvanse is the 4th ADHD med I tried and by far the one that helps me the most! But I still have to monitore my daily 'performance', depending on that I adjust my medication. Do not just take the stuff as your doctor tells you, it's all about your bodychemestry and it isn't the same each day. At some days the meds are counterproductive, but that can be more of a femal hormone thingy... My depression vanished on ADHD meds (except when I was on Strattera that were awful 4 weeks....), and I know my brain rewires already, since I can hold my good vibes on days without the meds and don't fall for my negative self talk anymore^^ Of course there are bad days, but they are the exception now (thank God). Many antidepressants taget the Serotonin level in your brain, but Serotonin is an antagonist of Dopamine, the reason why antidepressants often don't work or worsen the situation for people with ADHD (if you don't know him already listen to Dr. Amen - interesting stuff).

    • @tjl8884
      @tjl8884 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Liquid vitamin D is good for depression too. I take about 2000 iu a day. The problem with ssri meds is they only touch serotonin.. The brain needs dopamine and endorphins to be in a good mood. Some of us don't seem to get the proper uptake or production of dopamine which translates into depression and adhd type problems. Im pretty sure its a genetic problem and nothing can help it but the medication.
      Whats really sad is I bet most of the prison system is full of undiagnosed adhd especially the ones who self medicate with cocaine or meth etc.. Even opiate meds increase dopamine but if these people were diagnosed early and properly I bet they would be living normal productive lives.
      One of the biggest tell tale adhd signs in adults is addiction.. Whether smoking, eating, alcohol, drug use, shopping, gambling, sex etc.. Id venture to say its the most prominent symptom because of the need for a dopamine hit and coupled with the impulse control issues it usually develops into a serious problem by 30-40..

    Thank you for sharing this! 1st time viewer. Quick backstory. I am turning 40 this year, male. I was FINALLY diagnosed with adhd a few weeks ago, after suspecting/knowing that I had it throughout my life. Like many undiagnosed and eventually diagnosed adhd adults, you get as far as you can in life, and the challenges and extra or new responsibilities or stressors bring things to a halt. Things get more overwhelming and things that maybe sort of worked in the past to help get us adhd’ers by are no longer working or cutting it. So here I am! I am specifically interested in Vyvanse, because a lot of people seem to prefer it to most of the other adhd meds and because it is the only drug approved for binge eating disorder. I have a huge overeating and binge problem. I have a question. What’s it like to be on adhd meds and specifically Vyvanse? Compared to not being on them?

    Part of taking these medications is finding nutritional means of supporting things.
    If you aren't taking a bioavailable magnesium supplement, I suggest you start. It greatly assists in ameliorating the twitchy, edgy, amped up side-effects--will greatly help you sleep.
    L-theanine helps a lot for countering side-effects and boosting focus--It's a relaxing focus. It's good for during the day.
    Passionflower is great for taking the edge off, and a small amount is okay during the day, and a larger dose is excellent for night.

    • @PeaJayTheGr8

      Typically your primary physician will not prescribe ADHD meds. That has to come from a psych. Your primary can refill in some occasions, at least mine offered, but they typically don't prescribe.

      Primary Doctors can prescribe it. I know when I told my primary Doctor that my therapist said I might benefit from a stimulant because I could not focus, my primary became angry that my therapist suggested it. My primary was like “we will increase your Wellbutrin, because it is also effective in treating ADD. “ So yeah I had to find a psychiatrist to due a thorough evaluation and obtain a diagnosis. He was absolutely great and understanding. I think Doctors are being trained about amphetamine abuse and addiction so they are hesitant to prescribe amphetamine. You also have to see the doctor often when starting it.

    I have been taking vyvanse 60mg for a couple of years and it has worked great for me. The only negative side effect was that it made me clench my teeth a lot (I do this without the medication, I just noticed I was doing it more often after starting vyvanse) but that decreased after a while. Lately, I’ve noticed it isn’t working as well or lasting through the day so my doctor split my dose to 30mg twice a day only to find out my insurance will only pay for 1 pill a day (regardless of the dose)…so frustrating! My doctor suggested switching me to Adderall but I’m hesitant to switch since vyvanse worked so well, not only for ADD but to suppress my appetite as well.

      No worries. I may have misinterpreted your question. Yes, they are similar but there are some differences that made me prefer Vyvanse over Adderall. The first was that Adderall always made me feel on edge and it made me a much angrier person on the 40MG. 70MG of Vyvanse gave me all of the benefits of 40MG of Adderall without the crankiness and uncontrollable anger. For me, I definitely preferred Vyvanse over Adderall. And I don't think your doctor would think you are just looking for a quick high as those people who abuse tend to prefer Adderall over Vyvanse. I am curious on your question too, as I was just started on Vyvanse almost 2 weeks ago just got form 40mg to 50mg today..
      Definitely more focused not.. not sure it’s done one thing about me interrupting ppl on a constant basis tho..
      And I am
      Curious if Adderall is better .
      Or I just haven’t give Vyvanse a long enough chance
      My side effects come and go other than no appetite, I keep a dry mouth…
      What is very very bizarre to me is when I edged out 20 mg on the second day I got these gas like chest pains(not near my heart literally closer to below my clavicle.. that would come and go..
      On 40mg didn’t have any of that..
      But now first day on the 50mg the flushed face came back and the little gassy “chest pains”..
      Hard to describe..
      Not dizzy at all. I am prone to headaches anyways so I have had a headache here and there over the last 2 weeks on Vyvanse probably had 3-4 headaches thank god not migraines.
      Sometimes my hands either get super cold or super hot too😂🤣😂😅
      Other than all of the above I feel this could work for me…
      These gassy type muscle chest pains need to cease tho.
      Soooo bizarre not sure why it began on 20mg on the second day then stopped , did 30 mg for 3-4 days no Kona pains Ike that,
      Same with 40 mg just got tough 5 days of the 40 mg..
      Not that 40 didn’t work for me…
      I feel like ….. I could definitely have felt much more motivated, energized, not percrastinating ..
      So my psychiatrist said let’s try 50mg..
      I see him next week then I will have been on the 50 for a full week.
      I will know for certain of I need to go up.
      I know one thing I cannot take before 10am… it only lasts at max 9-10 hours in my body.

      I honestly think 70mg is way too much. I felt like a zombie when I was on that much, coupled with an antidepressant. Thanks for sharing your story. 👊

    • @canadianGuitatist
      @canadianGuitatist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jennybrodrig I don't notice anything anymore no be honest .. it's been just over 2 weeks. At first I felt like I was on. Cocaine..... Deff take it at 9am if u plan on sleeping by 12am. But now, I don't notice much. At first, my hear rate increased ALOT. I do notice some weird eye bulging feelings after a few hours.
      If I want to feel it's actual effects, I have to stop taking for 2 days

      @jennybrodrig 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@canadianGuitatist thank you for your answer. I was in atomoxetin and my heart rate was too high I had to stop.

    • @canadianGuitatist
      @canadianGuitatist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jennybrodrig I'm also perscribed clonadine... For other reasons. But I found that it helps alot with the rapid heart rate. Only thing is, the Vyvanse causes me to have cotton mouth... So does clonadine.. so it's shitty taking both.
      But after my 5th or 6th day, it wasn't nearly as bad. At first it was like extremely noticable. But now it's fine :)
      *Edit*
      After 5 or 6 days of just the Vyvanse alone* I don't mean of taking both clonadine and Vyvanse

    Man, I'm only on 5mg of Adderall and I'm tripping. I can hear my heart beating out my chest, insomnia, jaw-clenching, teeth-grinding, tongue-sucking, blurred vision, and paranoid like crazy. But I'm focused though... on all the side effects! Maybe the ADD wasn't so bad.

    • @PeaJayTheGr8
      @PeaJayTheGr8  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the exact same symptoms! Chalked it up to being on too much but eventually ditched it all together for Vyvanse. Best decision I ever made.

    • @green--apple
      @green--apple 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Woah. Maybe your body doesn't like Adderall. That's a pretty intense reaction especially since it's such a low dose!

    • @liveitup2280
      @liveitup2280 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't want to speculate but usually someone who legit has the diagnosis wouldn't react that way...ESPECIALLY at such a dose that you noted...5mg. I am just wondering if somehow you were misdiagnosed? Anyways, whatever is going on I hope you get it figured out. I'm also Bipolar Type 1 in addition to ADD so I literally HAVE to be truthful in what's working and what's not or I get hospitalized.

    • @EastCoastReefer
      @EastCoastReefer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adventure-A- DAY - I’m definitely not misdiagnosed. I’ve never been able to focus until now. The impulsivity has also improved in a big way. My mind is actually so much calmer, it’s just the physical side effects. I’m just really sensitive to stimulants. Even coffee kicks my butt.

    • @liveitup2280
      @liveitup2280 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EastCoastReefer Thanks for the quick reply. Have you ever heard of Strattera? It's a *non-stimulant* ADD/ADHD medication. It didn't work for me but a TON of people have been saved by this and claim its worked miracles in their lives. Being overly sensitive to stimulants could just be a part of your body/brain's chemical makeup. 5mg of Adderall is a tiny dose and that typically shouldn't have such adverse effects.
      Also, there's Vyvanse(still a stimulant such as Adderall). I assume you're at least aware of it clearly since you watched this video haha. Not sure if you're on medical insurance? It's at least another option. I've personally found that to be the absolute BEST medication for ADD/ADHD but you almost have to be on really good medical insurance to afford it. Anyways, if you're still in the beginning stages of finding the right fit, just be honest with your doctor. He/she should be willing to try different drugs that best suit you. Best of luck

    • @PeaJayTheGr8

      I was told by my doc that 70mg of Vyvanse was equivalent to 40mg of Adderall, but I would take that with a grain of salt as I am not a doc. This is just what I was told by mine.

    • @PeaJayTheGr8
