I must say, Karl, you're definitely the top of your class in welding school...👍 Your welding skills are absolutely top-notch! Thanks your review . We just aim to provide user-friendly machines, and having a professional welder like you recognize our brand means a lot. We'll focus on product development and customer service, so every up and coming welder can enjoy welding to the fullest.
I bought the MIG 200 yesterday 04/28/2024 because of Karl's outstanding review....It would be nice if you guys sent Karl Two complete MIG 200 Units with all the accessories so he could do Two giveaways for the Lucky people out there that can't afford to buy their own.
@@markkennedy4055 Great idea! I'm definitely up for it, and I'll try to get in touch with Karl to see how things can progress. Thanks for your support!
price just went up $50. 🤬
@arccaptain-weld I am interested I one of your machines ìi have a Lincoln pro 180 and am very happy with it but if I can buy 1 machine that I can mìg and tig weld with and also stick weld well its a no brainer. What I need to know do you use the same gas for mig and tig or does it take a different gas ?
Acid etch to see how much penetration you got.
I reviewed the ARCCAPTAIN MIG 200 on my channel too and I still feature it from time to time when I use it on welding jobs....love it....I tried to burn it up and couldn't do it...I ran it so hard the coating was melting off of the welding cables but it just kept welding.
Did you notice the light inside the cabinet to help you see the drive roll area?...that's a thoughtful feature. I'm using the MIG 200 on site now welding thin galvanized steel on some bleachers at baseball field. I really like the ARCCAPTAIN flux core wire on that stuff. I tried ARCCAPTAIN wire against Lincoln NR-211 and found that I like the ARCCAPTAIN flux core wire better. Great review you...thank you
I am 75. soon to be 76 and I took a year of welding in high school. Only AC & DC arc welding and acetylene gas welding were taught as there were not any Mig welders back then. I had an old used Lincoln wire feed welder that only used flux core and had two settings, High & Low years later. I convinced my wife to buy me this welder for Christmas last year and she agreed, but said it had to remain in the box so she could wrap it and put it under the Christmas tree LOL. I have used the arc weld feature as that is what I am most comfortable with, and the flux core as I didn't have any gas till recently. I am just now learning how to Mig weld with gas. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?? Just wanted to say that your video is the best one I have watched on this welder. You did a very good job at explaining how everything works and how to start with the settings, and where you are used to welding. I watched every review I could find before deciding to purchase this welder, and yours is very informative without all the technical jargon.
Thanks, Jim Light
That was a really engaging and on-point look at one of the new batch of low-cost multi-process machines. It wasn't too down in the weeds on details or cut & polish analysis on welds, just overall features and function. It seemed more geared to the knowledgeable beginner, but the test runs were all very practical. Great review!
I have this welder and im happy with it. Currently running .030 flux. Since i dont have a gas bottle. Still trying to get the settings dialed in to weld 16 gauge and 18 gauge sheet metal.
Once you do get gas it's sooo much nicer to weld with, clean no slag welds.
@@ich1ban916 lots of people including myself just use co2. the gas is cheaper, the bottles too. you can use soda bottle or keg type. the welds aren't as clean as mix gas but way way nicer than flux core. youll also get to be a better welder because youll have a better sense of what a good weld looks like.
Just purchased using your code, Beginner here, your video makes it look pretty user friendly
Thanks man
What did you pay?
Been thinking of buying a welder for YEARS you sold me on this one! Thanks for the breakdown!
No problem! Happy this video helped
That thing works great and your skills are commendable.i just got a CTS200 from amico power that has stick ,tig, and plasma but was over double the money. No mig. Gotta love the rate at which technology is advancing .when i started in the 80s it was brazing and stick only. That brazing is an art in itself, whew and the guy that taught me was an old school lead guy. Thanks for keeping us up on the cutting edge guys!
OOOO!!!
Wow that’s cool welder like that you try and see what it does. Got my vote . Can’t beat the price. If it impresses you got to be good.
Thanks for real honest test Keep up your great work!
Let me start by saying that I absolutely love the channel and the content you put out Karl. Watched this review and decided to pull the trigger on the welder and arccaptians plasma cut50. I was just getting ready to replace the circuit board in my Hobart for the second time. It is now on the shelf. This Mig200 welds better than the Hobart by far. I have been surprised at the functionality and performance of this machine. The Cut50 plasma performs equally as well. Thanks for the review Karl, would have never purchased these without it.
Spread the tail of the loop out a tad further before coming back over, ie lower case e long tail, then come back. I used to weld mig 8 to 12 hours a day, truck lift parts
I always learn something from your videos thanks
Well, I just bought this welder.....when my wife starts yelling at me I'm going to say Karl made me do it! It's your fault Karl for such a great review!
That's what I said about the beadroller lol
I think I'll do the same. Damn Karl! 😂
Great demonstration , thank you Karl
I have two of these MIG200's and can vouch for their quality at this price point. ArcCaptain has really hit the nail on the head with these units. I know not all of their products hit their amperage rating but they're smooth and HIGHLY diversified which makes them a jack of all trades per se, AGAIN, at this price point. I love mine and they just keep welding! Great review Karl!
Great instructions on the welder set up!
I have been welding for 51 years and have over that time welded lots of cast iron with mig. You dont try and weld the parts directly together, you butter each side with mig then join the two buttered layers together with the last pass, plain wire works quite well for things like cracks in water jackets but if you want greater strength use stainless wire.
I bought a Michigan 250 multi welder, I found it a heap better than my Telwin 100, just gives me a better weld, but we only have 240volt, power, I've learnt heaps from watching people like you that weld, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
I appreciate the honest appraisal. Lots of guys need an affordable starter welder. My Miller is 220, but the 110 option is nice at times. Can’t beat the price
Thanks!
Ordered the plasma cutter, helmet, and consumables using that discount! Great price!
We have Stahlwerk welding machines here in Europe, they are cheap machines but seem to be good. My friend has a MIG welder and a TIG welder and he is super happy (the do the all in one machines but are really not as good as the dedicated ones) they give 7 years warranty
Bought this welder for building my 58 Apache before seeing this video. I was nervous but happy it got your approval. I sure like mine so far. Excited to buy a tig gun for it down the road
Great wee video, I would buy at the drop of a hat on the strength of this review.
🦘🇦🇺 🤔 I'm just wondering if Elio could use a tinted(?) lens sometimes when filming you welding, it would be great to see your whip technique in real time.
Pretty sure the other demo vid's are filtered ....
Stick welder's are great for outdoor, high wind environments. Also, less moving parts than a MIG welder, therefore more reliable.
Beautiful welds!
SUPER WELDING. Sure looks like a super multi mix machine. Many Thanks.
I´d take a stick welder over a small mig every day of the week for thicker material. Its far to easy to make welds that look good but are not structurally sound with a MIG, especially with a small one that dont have the oomp to go into spray transfer.
Great video, I’ll be right behind ya with my review of them
Nice machine, thanks for the tips! Thanks Karl 😊.
Would have been good to see it doing a stackatack on sheet metal. Curious to know if it works with the spot weld function too with stack a tack
I've bought tooliom plasma and 200 amperage mig and 200 Amp pulse tig they weld and cut great and all 3 were less the 900 bucks
Well I must agree you did a great job reviewing the welder. I've been wanting a decent little machine for around the house and garage. Thanks for the discount code
Man you are great welder. I'm just learning. You are great at explaining the welder. Thanks for sharing.
UPDATE....I stopped watching your video about half way through and ordered from amazon not yet knowing your discount offer. They had an additional $150 off for EarthDay and a further $27 dollar discount code for my email address. The welder only cost $436.16 and that included tax and free shipping!!! Thanks from the other side of the country bro! You saved me over $200 with your link ✌Now I just have to cancel the amazon one or return it if it's too late to cancel.
In all my years (40) of welding, I've always dragged my MIG with a little whip action
5/32 5P Lincoln rod downhill pipe. Man those pipe welders can carry some metal
Great information
I own blue and red machines but gotta say that's a very capable machine at an amazing price point. Seems like a great machine for a DIY beginner. BTW, what's the duty cycle?
Duty cycle is 60% I think for any industrial application the big welders can’t be beat. Bad for a DIY or hot rod shop I think these are good to go.
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy 32750 approved ! that was good info & see and know Make it Kustom
Man I just bought one exactly the same! Different brand here in New Zealand but same functions, thanks for the tutorial 😂 I’m just starting out.👌🏻
just got mine. haven't used it yet. i bought directly from arc captain. final cost after discount and taxes was $374. i didn't pay attention much to the description and found out the tig gun was not included. also found it will not use a pedal. but it is still a great bargain.
Great machine. Had a couple of cheaper myself. One you get to regulate the weld by travel speed and time in the weld pool. It welded everything on the same setting. It could weld anything however . Happily joined big stuff and thin material had to be a series of starts. The next one went upmarket by double the price and lower rated amperage . Stil Chinese build with many options but no spot weld . Well this was interesting and a real fine cheapie. not a bad demo Karl.
My brother you know your tools ,exllent welding beads
Awesome,well done.
I just ordered a primeweld 180 and I have never seen any videos of it laying down weld like this
Man, you can flat out weld, wish I could even get close to that
Every thing you touched welded perfect!
When I weld, it looks like an Atomic Chicken just shat molten steel all over my workpiece
Great review! I have been in the market for a 200 amp dual voltage mig welder and will definitely check this one out.
Thanks for this episode Karl. Your skill level is phenomenal and informative. Every day is a school day. (# SirGene Winfield)
Karl, thank you for the review. I need a welder and looks like I'll be purchasing one. Should do the job on my 36 Ford truck.
Since I’ve just upgraded to something very similar, would be interested in you showing us scratch start TIG!
Got my email in on a 200 and appreciate your testing and showing your results.
Maybe suggestion, not critique your technique, just sharing my critique my puddle, your exactly description, adding watching the symmetrical egg shape hot puddle, any deformity adjust until it follow symmetrical.
Just putting out.
Great job.
Im excited and submental income my disability.
I am new to your channel. Your welding skills are second to none! Going to purchase one of these welders. What pattern do you use when welding or is the one of you video tiles I can watch where you explain this technique? Thanks!
Very cool machine 😊
Awesome welds
Hi Karl, Great episode.. This machine is quite good from your presentation.. How about consumables, are they standard to any other maker or is it specific to the manufacturer.. I have a 15 year old blue box and I can still get consumables even thought they don't make the model any longer.. What are the chances for this machine? Thanks for testing . Will you consider the TIG process or will you show the spot welding technique of this machine.. I know I'd sure like to see that..
Most of the accessories for the MB15 MIG GUN can be used with our machine, so you can buy consumables anywhere. Of course, I would prefer if you buy them in our store. LOL.
Dude I’m following you. First time welder enthusiast
Awesome man check out some of my other Welding Videos!
I am a 1st class Journeyman welder and for all around welding stick is still the king. The problem with stick is it requires practice and a degree of talent to use it so everyone has run to MIG which is useless for many things. The trouble with this machine for home use is amperage draw. It takes a 50 amp service which few are going to have at their disposal.
Try making a gas tank fuel tight with that stick weld, 16 GA stainless steel
You are correct, sir. If it's thick, use a stick if you want it to stay. MIG is also the worst for giving you a GREAT looking weld with NO STRENGTH AT ALL. I wish Karl and other youtubers would bother to TEST THE WELDS. The #1 most important part of a welder review, TESTING.
Did I miss something, how is wire speed controlled? Other than that looks good
The Amparage Setting Controls WS
@@saltyreesescup3104 ok I guess?? Tks
In normal mode, you can set the voltage and wire speed directly with the knob. But in SYN mode, you can adjust the voltage and the machine will automatically adjust the current for you. SYN mode is great for beginners who may not be sure about the right wire speed. Hope this helps!
@@arccaptain-weld tks now I understand. Used to my old Lincoln with adjustable wire speed. Dam this modern technology, tough on 80 yr olds.
Nice!
Have you or could you do a video on the Tig option with this welder?
You can listen to this as a podcast and listen to how nice these welds get laid in. Excellent video.
so... this MIG200 or the SSIMDER10 in 1 you showed in previous video....your choice would be?
Depends on your needs. If it’s only wire feed that you need, then I would say this Wilder is best.
I have few welders but I did need a new Plasma Cutter. So I just ordered one from Arc Captain. Got the Make is Kustom discount plus I spun their prize wheel for another 10%. So $206 shipped with the extra consumables package!
Deadly! I’m excited to try some of the other units
@@MakeItKustom Got my ArcCaptain Plasma Cutter yesterday. Hooked it up and used the 120v plug and it cut good up to 25V. That's about the max for 120V. I cut some 14 ga, some .125" and .250. It cut clean like butter. I need a second 220V plug because I have one and it runs the compressor. Once I get another 220V I should be able to cut the heavier plate. All in all it works great for a light duty plasma cutter. Thank you for sharing.... a plasma cutter is great addition and it is priced so everyone can have one.
Do I have to put gas to it?
I see its on sale right now at $350
Will it hold a 10 lb spool ?
yes
@@jordanvalencia2459 cool !!! I’ve been looking forever for these features..
Accepts 10 lb spools
welds up to 6 mm
Flux optional
110-220 compatible
Under $500
This is the first one I’ve seen with all the options I want !!!
I’ve heard if you get a machine that accepts 10 pound spools you save a lot of money buying welding wire
😂great reviews on all press 😅
Send that Lincoln my way after you swap it out, I'll review it to see if it makes me a better welder lol.
Hail the algorithm 😊
I’m not a beginner and I now want one
🦘🇦🇺 Do I spy a Canberra (ACT) Number Plate above your welding mask rack. Possibly from an EJ Holden with a 350 Chevy engine 🤔
Nothing wrong with a stick welder that's all i use still to this day one day i might get a mig and learn how to use one properly likewise with a tig
We're you running 110 ?
was 220
MIG200 is dual voltage, so you can use both 110V and 220V.
@@arccaptain-weld can you run flux dual shield?
All these test runs were on 120 or 240v?
I bought one on the first release
I paid way less
I like it
How is the drive mechanics???
Maybe my question is stupid coz i don’t have knowledge but im looking to by welder for my mechanic so i will ask. Is this one only for aluminum or you can weld steel also? Im asking about this one - ARCCAPTAIN MIG205 Pro Multi Process MIG Welder Welder. Thank you !
Hey guy. Would love you to give their Multi-process welder a review. I want 1 machine for TIG and MIG but can't bring myself to pull the trigger! Is the multi process unit even a good idea?
Is there a general chart for mig welding?
Let’s see tig
🦘🇦🇺 Wow Karl, you're using Metric terminology 😂
Did you take Jordan's tape measure back to Canadia too ?? 🤣🤣
Parts of this mig machine looks just like the Everlast 200ES
What a fabulous welder, can not buy one in the UK 🙄
What is retail price?
I wish my MIG did post flow. That is the one feature I would love to have.
It only cost about $2000.00 LESS than mine and as said it looks like it does it all no problem . Thankfully I know the welds look way better because of the guy welding , not the welder. 😂
You have to BREAK the welds to see if they were any good. That's how you get your welding cert to weld on cars for body integrity, anyways. It has to break right. Especially this is true for heavy steel, you can have welds that look like yours with almost ZERO strength. Bend it over backwards and break it. I don't MIG heavy steel anymore, the WORST stick weld will outperform good MIG on 1/4". You will bend that weld back and forth 10 times before it breaks. The MIG will snap in 1 or maybe 2 flexes.
We were required to leave a gap when butt welding panels, with or without a backer. It reduces warping from shrinkage.
Damn why did I spend $2000 on a Lincoln...
Wish you would have done 110v - on the edge of buying.
110 V works really great as well. The only difference is that you just can’t have as much power as when you are plugged into 220.
With this machine on 110 V you will be able to do everything that a 110 V machine has ever done
do the stick weld!
Dude I have adhd and will have to listen again
Hi Karl, I'm a novice at this . I have a Lincoln 140 mig. Needed it to weld floor panels on my Jeep. Figured that 1/4" material max would be all I need. But now I am modifying a utility trailer. When I cut the axle in half to make it wider I discovered that it is not a 2' square tube like I thought it is a 2" solid square axle. What do you think can this welder do it ? I have seen some cheep stick welders ,but I don't want to buy another $500 welder for something that I may never need again. Any advice is greatly appreciated Thank you.
If you have a torch, like an Oxsee acetylene or oxy propane, you can preheat the material and you should be able to weld it with it
@@MakeItKustom 😊 That's something a pro like you would know. After watching your video on Accaptain welders I bought myself a 200 amp stick welder from them. Now I wish I had waited, but oh well . Can anyone ever have too many tools in the garage. At $120 delivered compared to a miller at $800 I'll keep it. thanks for the reply. Enjoy your channel.
So you're gonna change out that lincoln
Already did lol
Stacking dimes 😜
Checked today -now at $615 witha 5% discount?
Just bought from site. $369 shipped to my house free shipping. Incl tax.
Do you feel this choice is better than the simmer? I notice simmer keeps using some of your video. Thank you in advace
Simder auto correct helped me look stupid.... I don't need help😂
They both worked well but for different things. If a person didn’t have enough space, or reason to have more than one machine than the simder is good. But I would prefer that are captain, and then a separate TIG welder that does AC and DC in between the two machines you have more capability.
Cool, thank you keep up the good work. I Like the rest like your videos and love your passion and inspiration.
