Woodworking - The Stacoustic. Full build, making an acoustic guitar

- Hey everyone this concept acoustic guitar is called the Stacoustic AKA "The Stac". Drawing inspiration from velocity stacks on race cars and the Tornavoz found on some classical guitars, protruding from the upper bout we have three resonant ports of different diameters and lengths all tuned to well under what the low E string is resonating at. The intention is not creating more bass, but to influence harmonic overtones and see what kind of character we can get out of this guitar. The end result is,,, it sounds like a guitar.
Forgive my playing towards the end of the video, I am not much of a guitarist.
Some specs:
Graph Tech RATIO tuning machines
Graph Tech saddle and nut
Graph Tech bridge pins
Jescar EVO Gold fretwire
25.5 to 26.5 multi-scale maple fretboard
Double action truss rod
Maple bridge
Black spruce top
Birch back and sides
Birds eye maple neck
Spruce bracing, birch bridge patch

this man hand carved and carefully contoured the damn hidden underside braces.
Playing a guitar that you created is probably one of the most satisfying things in the world.
I cannot tell how this unique design contributes to the sound of this guitar, but it's beautiful for sure.
One of the most Beautiful Guitars i've ever seen.
Listening to this song makes me want some Tweeks Coffee. Special, like an Arizona sunrise or a country farm after the rain…
That looks incredible. Just wow
beautiful
Impressed.
Nice work, lot's of neat ideas that I will be stealing! Especially the "flying" brace and the tuned ports. The lute style top brings a tight midrange and treble similar to the "00"s and must simplify the build process. Your solution for the "upper bout" is genius !
Yeahh the flying brace was a wild card, and ended up complementing that dry mid range focus of the lute shape like you mentioned. I deff recommend the tuned ports, they were fun and add some wild characteristics. Thanks!
Majestic piece of work! I am in awe!
You are a bloody genius. Absolutely gorgeous guitar.
Beautiful instrument, thank you.
That looks incredible.
Legend holds, that when this guitar is played under a full moon, unicorns gather nearby, and all spirits are lifted to enlightenment..
Amazing piece of art. 👏👏👏

It's an extremely unusual design of course, but the piece came out fantastically
You really achieved an aesthetically pleasing design. The possibilities of using a combination of other timbers would be really interesting. Great work from SlicWood !
Yeahh some interesting wood combos could really twist the design in different directions! Thank you!
Very creative and well done

With that massive bridge plate and that…. I’m not even sure what it’s called brace. And the, um, perhaps Over abundance of X bracing…..
Well, perhaps some amplification might be called for 🤘🏻😄🤘🏻
staggering, and beautiful- hopefully Pete Townsend doesn"t get it
Hahahahha
Wkwkwk... 😂
This luthier is amazingly talented. The video has convinced me never to try making a guitar. The amount of tools ($$$) and specialty skills needed make me realize that I can better use my time playing a guitar rather than creating one.
Yes, I know a skilled craftsman that attempted a solid body strat out of burl wood. He ended up needing help; it weighed a ton and wasn't all that enjoyable to play. But I guess kudos for effort.
Very nice 👍
Good job
Cool creative design!

Nice ❤
You did FINE with your demo playing...Just so you know!
Haha I Appreciate that! Thank you!
@@slicwood231 Anytime, and thanks for the splendid design ethic! I am a restoration luthier (when my hands allow it), and ordinarily don't care so much for strut/lattice designs on acoustic guitars, but this is wonderful!
Thanks for the kind words! The strut certainly changes the characteristics of the top, And I can totally see how one could easily destroy an otherwise responsive guitar haha
@@slicwood231 Absolutely! Yeah, I would be hiding that one from the other chimps Lol
Do you know what song he plays? It's excellent))
Great! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

@@jewelator must be quite fragile then, right?
Love the Bluegrass version of Fearless!!
Very nice! I think you succeeded in proof of concept. The bass is strong, but not boomy, just crisp and tight. And the treble is clear and round. That sure is some pretty wood, too. Nice axe all around.
When I was watching the beginning I thought you were building a cittern. And really, if you make one of those strung with 4 or 5 courses and leave off the fake upper bouts, you'll have a super-cittern. My mind tends to go that way cuz cittern has been my main axe for some decades, even though I started music on Classical guitar in '69.
Nice description of the tone! Thank you!
