I recently had a car accident, I had to emergency stop as an out of control car came towards me, very fast, head on. I was able to do this emergency stop and bring my car to a stop before they collided with me. Everyone was ok because I was able to take some speed out of the equation. I'm just here to check I did everything correctly... Good lesson to learn, and a very important skill.
hey Chris. I just passed my driving test yesterday. just with two minor fault I am very grateful to you. I have learned many things from you. keep going mate.
I did the emergency stop on my test last year, which I passed first time. It's now been over a year since I passed my test. I'm enjoying driving lots, but it's sad lockdown has prevented me from doing long journeys.
Forgot to say but this channel genuinely helped me pass my test first time and with 2 minors a few years ago, highly recommend to watch the people going through tests and copying the ones who pass, the way they talk, listen and perform what’s asked

The car I used in Germany for my driving exam didnt have abs, it was a half rain half snowy day, with -3 degrees outside, when the examiner said "Bremse" (meaning brake), I was doing manual abs, examier was shocked that I didnt lock up the brakes
I think it helped me to ( it’s gonna sound weird ) rely on your instinct, obviously practice is important but you’ll waste time thinking brake clutch brake It almost feels like pressing both at the same time
I agree with this. Thinking about pressing break and then pressing clutch a split second after will be worse in general. By the time you carry out the routine you'll have moved much further compared to just thinking just break harshly and hold clutch.
Hi Chris, I had to preform an emergency stop on my 1st driving test yesterday and the examiner said I would have failed if the vehicle didn't have ABS. I passed anyway, but this video will really help people, as do all your videos
Years ago I found your videos to learn the basics of how to drive a manual. Today after turning 21 in october I got my P2 licence first go. Thank you and greetings form Australia.
Hi Chris, thanks for another well explained video. I have a suggestion. Would you be able to do a reverse angle parking video? I know you have done various reverse parking videos already but not for a reverse angle parking. The reason I ask is because I failed a driving test solely because of not being able to correctly line up and park a car and this was in an angled car park. As you explain these manoeuvres so well in these videos I'd really appreciate a video that explains this - with reference points. Many thanks,
Me too. I was asked the emergency stop as well as reversin two car lengths after parking on the right! It absolutely peed me off the car kept angling out the middle of the road cus I apparently oversteered too much to the left. Well annoying. I tried to correct it but couldn't do it. Was a fail
I wonder how often examiners ask to do emergency stops on hilly roads. So the main point really is in all-around observation before moving off again. Failed to observe - failed the test, even if the emergency stop was excellent.
I took my test today and passed, I was asked to do an emergency stop (which I had only practised this morning) it wasn’t good enough, and the examiner asked me to have another try! Quite unusual?
thank you so much for your helpful videos I am doing Part 2 ADI test soon In an emergency stop do we need to check all around ( blind spots) after stopping ?
Do you apply neutral or park when doing the manoeuvre to secure the car? Also I've been told you don't have to apply the hand break or put it in neutral when doing it and to just stop then do mirror checks and move on. Is this ok?
Why should you push clutch pedal shortly after pushing break pedal? Its not like the car is gonna stall or anything because the rev is definitely higher than 1k + its also gonna make less friction meaning slower and more time consuming stop. Isn't that right?
@NASSAfellow if your handbrake is properly lifted, the car won't move if youleave it in neutral. Until you decide to do otherwise. There are some occasions when you happen to stop on up a hill and it would be advisable to also leave it in 1st gear (or on reverse gear if stopped on a downhill), for extra security. Otherwise neutral is generally fine.
Hi I have test in two days. Could you please answer this ? I get confused with speed limits on road where there’s no sign. How to figure out what’s the speed ? Also after 40 speed road how to know it’s no more 40 now.

@@hannahhood5481 it got cancelled when we went in lockdown, my new test date is July 29th hopefully by that time I’ll be test ready, good luck to you on your test 🙂👍

"it's totally painless"....my neck clicked and it really hurt bcoz I have upper back issues.i really never want to do the emergency stop again. It's how people get whiplash . I just hope I won't have it on my test .
Arnab Das It's the same procedure brake, clutch. Cars without ABS would skid un safely and it would take longer to stop, plus it wouldn't be very good for the tyres
Why you use clutch whilst emergency stop totally different to a motorcycle you just pull the brakes and if you stall it's not a problem and you won't fail as long as you have come to a stop
I have a question, may be silly but when we carry out the emergency stop, do we obstruct traffic behind us or could they go into the back of us or do the examiners only do it when nobody is around
Hi! Checking your mirrors and blind spots after an emergency stop is important because it allows you to be aware of your surroundings and any potential hazards that may be present. While the mirrors are useful for monitoring what's happening behind you, they don't give you a full picture of what's going on around your vehicle as you can't see directly to the side of your car. When you're driving, it's essential to be aware of everything that's happening on the road, including other vehicles, pedestrians, and obstacles. By taking the time to check your mirrors and blind spots after an emergency stop, you can ensure that you're aware of everything that's happening and can make informed decisions about how to proceed safely.
Lol I told my brother (he's been driving for like 13 years) that this is the proper procedure... stopping, then p brake and neutral... but noo, he knows everything and reckons you do the stop and then move on, like, stop, no checks, just straight back to first🤣

No mirror checks before braking on the emergency stop.
@@worlddriving thank you for your reply.
Do I have to check mirrors after the examiner says “stop!”, before breaking? If yes, which in particular?
Hi! You won't have time to check the mirrors before stopping. But check all mirrors and blind spots after you've stopped. 🙂
I am wondering whether examiners would ask candidates to do emergency stop while cars are running at a high speed?
my instructor told me not to put the clutch down. Is this incorrect?

No

Any difference for cars without ABS?
Arnab Das It's the same procedure brake, clutch. Cars without ABS would skid un safely and it would take longer to stop, plus it wouldn't be very good for the tyres
So you don't do hazard lights immediately after?
No.
Shouldn’t you press the Clutch then Brake quickly…… Any Advice how to make it smooth especially with passenger
The emergency stop is not about being smooth but more importantly stopping quickly (brake then clutch) and in control :)
How do you do this in an auto?
What if you are braking at 100kmph? Will you press clutch there?
It's not essential that you press the clutch, but clutch down before stopping to avoid stalling.
Why you use clutch whilst emergency stop totally different to a motorcycle you just pull the brakes and if you stall it's not a problem and you won't fail as long as you have come to a stop

No
What faults are there in emergency stop

Do you fail if you stall the car when you complete the stop??
No.
So what if there’s a car coming up behind you & there’s no space for them to overtake you? Would you then have to indicate?
If there no room to over take then then surely there is no hazard so no you wouldn't ?
I have a question, may be silly but when we carry out the emergency stop, do we obstruct traffic behind us or could they go into the back of us or do the examiners only do it when nobody is around
Quiet road, no-one behind :)

What's the goal of checking the blind spot and looking around why you don't just check on mirror's
Hi!
Checking your mirrors and blind spots after an emergency stop is important because it allows you to be aware of your surroundings and any potential hazards that may be present.
