I watch this clip every few months, and I cracks me up every time. Credit to them both - the timing is brilliant.....albeit a little too fast in places 🤣🤣
I’m Irish and a huge fan of Lee Mack.the accent is brilliant This is probably my favourite comedy sketch ever I could watch this once a day and laugh every time 😂😂😂
Aw jeeze I'll tell you as well, I'm delighted as well, but do you know the win isn't just for me it's for the trainer and the boys in the yard because it's a very hard course, knowing its bad after a quarter of a lap. You know when he jumped the last I thought 'there's no way this fella is going to make it' but I gave him a slap with the reign during the whole way home and I'll tell you when he goes to 8th off the south end you're doing very very well. I tell you I'm absolutely delighted. Not 100% but close enough. Source: Irish; and this actually makes Lee Mack's impression here even better because it wasn't just random Irish sounding noises he clearly practiced speaking the words quickly in that dialect, he's brilliant.
Impressive! I'm sad enough to have played it at half speed and you're about right apart from at the end. He says: 'I'll tell you what when he goes to Aintree on the soft ground he'll do very very well...' Like you say, it's genius that he was genuinely speaking words and not gobbledygook.
I'm listening to his autobiography (how I got here) and I think it's because he worked with Irish guys in a stable, and I think his wife is Irish or something.
What kinda irish accent is this? I've worked with people from Dublin and they all sounded like Chris O'Dowd in IT Crowd. I've also heard Irishmen talking to each other in what i thought was really bad accent but it later turned out they were speaking Gaelic the whole time.
To be fair.i did get it first time round.I’m Irish and I love this sketch.Lee Mack actually comes from an Irish background.his grandfather was from Mayo I believe.absolutely great sketch.especially when he said ‘I thought this fella will never make it up the hill ‘ priceless 😂😂😂

Whereabouts in Ireland can i find people that talk like that? All the irish people i know sound like Chris O'Dowd in IT crowd
Bravo!
Ronni was an angel fallen from the heavens , a truly beautiful woman
“Was?”
She’s still alive
Let’s not forget the huge contribution to this from Ronni Ancona, must have very hard to get the timing right not to mention remembering it all!
One of the best sketches Ive ever seen, truly can't stop laughing...😂
Brilliant. Lee Mack is one of the very few English people who can actually do an Irish accent.
I'm listening to his autobiography (how I got here) and I think it's because he worked with Irish guys in a stable, and I think his wife is Irish or something.

Not bad as in Would I lie … he’s not known for mimicking accents
Jesus, I'm crying real tears here.
Just Amazing!!!!
Brilliant, can't stop laughing! !
Reading the Transcript section below the video is just as hilarious ! The interviewer must have been the person interpreting it !
this show was underrated
Brilliant.
Easily one of the most funniest British comedians of all time, and one thing Britain has is shithot comedians
Charlie Baker talking to Lee Mack at Cheltenham, had to come and have another look 😂😂😂
There's nothing better than the ol' "we're speaking the same language yet I can't understand a word you're saying" gag
Don't let the snowflakes watch this ...they will go into Meltdown
Lee Mack is a comedy Legend
Brilliant
should've ended with the Jockey saying "nope, I didn't catch a word of that!" and the reporter storming off
There's no need to swear!
You heard that alright!
Can't hear anything
So bloody funny 😂
Excellently Funny
Lee Mack has, famously, of course, ridden Red Rum, so he had plenty of training for this role.
So funny
Very funny
OMG That's so funny
The Sketch Show - Lee Mack As A Jockey 0624am 17.1.24 yes. amusing.
A ladder support 😂
there should be a not going out episode of lee taking up horse riding and lying that he was a famous jockey from Ireland lol
hilarious
Ronnie Ancona is a very funny lady as is of Course Lee Mack
I wonder how many Irish people understood what he said the first time
To be fair.i did get it first time round.I’m Irish and I love this sketch.Lee Mack actually comes from an Irish background.his grandfather was from Mayo I believe.absolutely great sketch.especially when he said ‘I thought this fella will never make it up the hill ‘ priceless 😂😂😂
I thought all jockies talked like that... :p
Holy mary mother of jesus wots he sayin????
That woman is very very tall
No
Sure isn't he the image of me mother ?
😂
Funny because its close to how they speak....
I love Lee Mack but that is so racist!
I know! the way they make english speaking reporters look so clueless, it's such an outdated stereotype!
Don't be soft ffs
Its not at all
It's not racist, it's an affectionate joke about the way Irish Jockeys speak.
Brilliant
