Do you ever recommend using a mini filter and heater in these jar set ups? It’s cold where I live and I’m going to use a 2 gallon jar. So finding a good filter and heater to fit and work good is a challenge. Is there anything you recommend?
How is the tiny aquarium doing? It's been a few months and I wondered if it worked out well, if there have been any issues, if the plants were good or if some had to be replaced? I'm looking to make something this size myself but have no experience with aquariums at all so I'm looking for inspiration and information on how those small tanks without filters or anything are doing
Now I know what you meant when you sad it will be be both, aquarium and paludarium :D it looks great. Would be nice to see how it develops over time :)
Do IT!! It's very rewarding for people who get excited about tiny changes like me and seeing something you have created develop into something rewarding.
What a handsome setup. I am once again am disgusted I have found your channel. The one I did a few years ago looked absolutely nothing like that. So not fair.
Hey brother. Thanks for this channel. Really enjoying it.. Going to start a large vase aquarium soon. What I would like to see happen is plants that grow right out of the water onto the rocks I have at the top. It’s crazy that I can’t find any videos showing aquatic plants growing out of the vase. Or even people recommending any. Which plants can do that? If anyone knows it’s probably you...lol. Thanks again brother.
Hello. I have a ball shaped glass that I measured to be around 5L (1,32 gallon). I know it's small, and many people told me it to be reaally small for an aquarium, plus the shape, but I wanted to make a good use to it. In research I came across your video and I really really like the idea. Just, since I never had an aquarium of any kind, I got few questions. The layers on the bottom, does it matter what kind of sand do I use? Should I have a substrate under sand and aquatic soil? the wood and rock, can I pick them from the backyard or I need to buy/look it up? plus, what kind of small water animals can I have in it? I know those questions may sound dumb but better to ask twice then mess it up. Also, I'm not native english speaker so I'm sorry for any mistakes or misstaps I made. Kelly ^^
I saw taht the light temperature is warm. I guess 4000-4500k. Do you think that is enough for the plants to grow. I mean it is this light temperature sufficient for the plants? And, yes....nice work!
@@MDFishTanks I know that they do best if the light temperature is 6500k or 8000k. I hope that your little project will do just fine. i cant wait to see the next update of this setup. Great job and nice ideea!
@@claudiumihoci9725 Honestly my friend, have a look at my old scape in my discus tank here: th-cam.com/video/bR_u-OooEZU/w-d-xo.html This is a warm light 10watt LED floodlight. I think its safe to say that plants can grow well in this colour temperature....and this is only a couple of months growth from baby plants.
In fact that land moss you hace can and will grow submersed. I have a few tanks similar to this. All my betta fish are in tanks like this. No filters, and no heaters. I heat all my tanka with room temp its cheaper for me do so.
Hello. I subscribe to your videos because they are very informative and well made. I have a simple question in regards to the light over this jar, Would you please tell me the kelvin temperature ,lumens and watts of the bulb you finally are using? Thank you.
It grows hairgrass. Does it mean the lighting comes in low to medium range. Will i be able to grow montecarlo carpet with the same light? Thanks in advance
Superglue becomes inert as soon as it touches water as long as its main ingredient is cyanoacetate. People use it for sticking frags directly underwater. Make sure you buy the gel kind.
After about a month, just topping up the water as it evaporates and trimming the moss and plants once a month. Initially I will do 30% water changes every 3 days for the first 2 weeks (This removes any waste organics).
Just started making one of these!!! I got it mostly set up today but plan to add more plants later this week and then let it go for a few more weeks. Thank you for this video!! How many shrimp/snails would you recommend for the 1 gal container when its time?
depends, on what kind of pet/plant you are getting.. just look them up on google or dont be shy to ask the person on the petstore.. marimo mossball can tolerate cold climate afiak..
Beautiful! Could you keep some shrimp in this? Are they hardy enough to survive the temperatures in my house (London, UK) without any heater/temp control? I also have a big glass jar lying around, as well as some spare gravel from my fish tank... and was wondering about doing the same...

Awesome I’m getting ready to do a jar set up. I learned a lot from your dirted tank videos. Thanks for sharing!
This one is not sorted, but it will work in the same way...just with less potential mess.

Plants do not care about light temp my friend. Only we do. They care more about intensity :)

Cool setup !!! Are you using any fertilizer for this? If so can you provide more details. Thanks..
No fertiliser. Just aquasoil

I know this is an old video, but does the super glue hurt the plants or the fish/ shrimp that will go inside the aquarium?
When it still wet yes but after hard it will be like rock or plastic. So no.
It grows hairgrass. Does it mean the lighting comes in low to medium range. Will i be able to grow montecarlo carpet with the same light? Thanks in advance
In my opinion yes
Do the terrestrial moss part require daily misting?
superglue is ok with plants? im mainly a salt guy but really want to build micro aquariums like this for my office at home

Shrimp or snails maybe or a magnet
Do u get any foul smells from this? I made some jar aquariums and they had a very stinging stinky smell. So I took it down...
Normally if you run water changes you shouldn't have a problem but you may have also too intense of lighting.
