From Pro Football Talk: “Safety Harrison Smith was mentioned as a potential cap casualty in Minnesota this offseason, but he won’t be leaving the Vikings.
According to multiple reports, Smith and the Vikings have worked out a revised contractual agreement that will keep Smith with the team.
Smith had been set to make $14.7 million this season with a cap hit north of $19.1 million as part of a deal that runs through 2025. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Smith will now make $8 million with $2 million in incentives for the 2023 season.
Smith has spent his entire 11-year career with the Vikings and made 85 tackles while picking off five passes in 14 games for the team last season. He’ll get a chance to repeat that kind of success in 2023.

Probably one of the most impactful defenders of all-time. He's a first ballot type HOF'er. Hes held our defense together for his entire era.
AS someone who watched Krause and Browner I can honestly say that Harrison is head and shoulders above above them . He is far more of a complete safety that had the ball skills of Krause and the tackling ability of Browner . I also love how subdued he is after making great play after great play so refreshing seeing a humble super star instead of a player celebrating making a routine tackle after he gave up a 28 yard pass .
I am with you. I have been a Viking fan since 1969 and I think your description is outstanding.

I grabbed a Smith Jersey back in like 2016 because I wanted my first one to be a solid choice and someone whom would be around for a while and that we all loved. I think in the end this man has devoted everything to the team and deserves the hall of fame for that and consistency of stellar play alone.

I’m a Ravens fan and while I knew Smith was good, this video made me appreciate how great he’s been all these years. Much like Winfield, Browner and Krause, Smith hasn’t gotten enough national media recognition because he plays in a small market team. Special player.

Missing in this collection (from 2014) is hit on Tampa TE Sefarian-Jenkins in OT that knocked ball out giving LB Anthony Barr walk-off TD on fumble recovery! Also, his de-cleating of HOF Megatron as he tried to catch pass in end zone.

You missed the best one when Smith hit Colon Kaepernick like a freight train. I could loop that all day.
As complete a player as you’ll ever see… great video but the one thing even the highlights don’t show is how many times receivers or backs altered their routes, got alligator arms or simply chose to step out of bounds because they knew 22 was going to absolutely rock them.

Yup. That hit gave megatron permanent nerve damage in his hand. One of his main reasons for retiring when he did. Hitman is legit
my 3rd favorite Viking of all time behind Coach Bud Grant and Scott Studwell.

@Payt Jared Allen, Cris Carter, Randy Moss for sure. Culpepper was always fun to watch too. But I grew up watching those players so it's hard for me to say any other players before my generation

Should have made a hard pass on a guy who’s not close to what he used to be. Even he knew and took a big pay cut. Happens to a lot of players, they fall off.
You know why? Because Stupid Ed Donatell didnt use him to his strengths!
He blitzed 14 total times last year when his season AVERAGE was 38. And didnt play him in the box almost at all! Guarantee it was Mostly not his fault.
