I have to politely disagree regarding the Switch classic library. They’ve barely released anything in 8 years. Wii had a much larger library, and Wii U still had more emulation options like control remapping, etc. We now pay more for way less. It’s not great, it’s a nostalgia subscription scam.
@@foxhound34 They’re doing exactly that in terms of lost features like controller remapping. @@Adamtendo_player_1 To be fair, Sony has made a similar move. They took away the excellent PS1 classics library we had on PS3, and stuck us with a limited subscription. However, the emulation was they offer now is top-notch and you can customize controls. I feel Xbox has done a great job, but unfortunately they gave up on their efforts long ago.
My only gripe with that is that there are games and services for nso. Didn’t help that Virtual console as a whole wasn’t getting much sales to begin with.
@Spawn Wave I'm sorry but in my opinion you are wrong. A $500 sticker price is a shock to me and my family. I love the switch and other Nintendo products, but personally my family and I can't afford a $500 gaming system. I'd rather have cloths on my children and have them food and some where to live. Not everyone is rich, and can buy every new system when they come out.
I think it has more to do with the fact that the Wii version was built heavily on Wii motion controls (so the control scheme would have to be completely reworked for the Switch), and also that it wasn't actually developed by Nintendo. It was made by a Canadian studio called Next Level Games. Now, Nintendo bought Next Level Games in 2021, so it's not _entirely_ out of the question, but I think people often underestimate how difficult it is to port a fifteen year old game. It would have to be essentially reworked from the ground up to fit modern hardware, which is rather expensive.
@@glaceRaven the Wii version actually supported a variety of control options. Motion, buttons, even the Wii Fit balance board haha. I feel i am out on the DLC and expansions. After i play a game and it is a long time afterward that i either finished or got sick of it, it is a very very long time before I am in the mood to return to it for a replay. With new games pouring out of the industry like they are now it is almost pointless to return to a game. Starfield was an okay story but nothing got me emotionally tied to the idea of starting it again, at least not this year.
Yeah getting reacquainted with the controls is a huge problem for me. I really want to play the FFXVI expansions but I have to put a bunch of hours in New Game+ mode to reach the points in the game to play those expansions. So annoying!
New games are very expensive in Brazil, so I pretty much always wait for sales, unless it's a Mega Man game. But I quite often buy games during sales, including games on Game Pass that I loved or that left the service. I'm not always buying the games I got all the achievements on, but I try to get a few of them, like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, so my sister gets to play it too.
I'm going to have to disagree with $500 not being crazy expensive for a gaming console. IMHO, if I'm going to drop $500 + tax on any one single item, I'm expecting it to have multiple useful & productive features and/or meet my long-term basic necessity qualities. Items such as a stove, refrigerator, bed, sofa, mobile phone, PC (although $500 for a PC is somewhat unlikely) or even a smart TV. $500 for me simply isn't enough to drop on something that primarily plays video games, requires a TV to work anyway (TVs that nowadays have the same apps if not more than the PS5 making apps on the PS5 pointless), and has a Blu-ray/DVD player. To quote a family member who plays videogames for leisure and when time allows it when they found out the price of the PS5 years ago and most recently the PS5 Pro, "That's bill money!" and I couldn't agree with them more.
I don't think we should ever just "get over" when something cost half a thousand dollars just because it's new and upgraded. For a lot of people, including myself, committing myself to a product that cost even $200-300 feels like a massive hit, even if it's an investment. Like if this is the standard going forward, I'd rather 2nd hand purchase a lot of things like i do for games and waiting for sales.
I think Nintendo is using F-Zero 99 to test out how an F-Zero title would be received and research what people expect from it in the modern landscape. Hear me out: >It's a cheap 2D title to produce >Experimenting with gameplay and live service elements is relatively inconsequential because of the minimum investment needed to support the title (from the simple visuals to the small amounts of data required for online) >Listening to feedback and implementing changes >Observing how people interact with the game This game is fantastic R&D for Nintendo to leverage when designing the next full-fledged entry in the series.
Why are devs skipping Xbox? Because Microsoft hasn't given anyone an actual reason to buy one. They need to stop bringing games to PS5 and kill PC Game Pass entirely.
Honestly, f-zero 99 is the remake you're talking about. It's not a hint at something else and its far superior than any "new" f-zero they could've come up with
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when we talk about switch 2. What copium are we on calling this a 4K machine? They barely run first-party games at 720p on switch 1. Do we just mean it'll have a 4K output for the homescreen and netflix? It's going to run games probably at 1080p in docked mode.
With game development for Nintendo, “where there’s smoke, there’s fire”. So, this F-Zero release and updates to me indicates that their internal F-Zero team is working away at something, or at a minimum has the green light to work on something. Porting old games and developing new content for a version of an old game is a great way for Nintendo to familiarize their developers with the concepts of the franchise and start brainstorming how to modernize the next major release. This COULD be some “hopium” speaking but I think this is really really good news for F-Zero fans in the next 2-5 years.
If they are releasing something with the power of 10 year old console $500 is too much, $399 is max , just because sony is being arrogant with their customers does not mean Nintendo has to be. For $500 i expect a ps5 or series x equivalent performance not xbox one ps4
Could always compensate all the games not getting a GP deal with a 10% cut on games actually sold despite the GP interference. But I suppose that is unlikely when various subscriptions (Ubisoft EA) being pushed on PS won't even sell the game separately when it is available on those. Or even PS+. It's nuts how hard subscription is pushed.
When you purposely ignore perfectly valid criticism (and create a "safe space" echo chamber instead) every failure becomes an "unsolvable mystery". I don't count: "We blame the boogeyman!" as solving anything, that's just an excuse.
Out of all the companies who make consoles for computer illiterate children, Xbox is the only one who releases games day 1 o. Their console AND pc. They're winning in my book.

*In Japan, XBox has the lowest Market Share, because it’s not a very respected brand.* *I see Westerners are realizing more and more how much physical media matters*
physical media doesn't really matter that much. many physical disc still require checking in to the game maker server or the console manufacturer's server, which really defeats the advantage of being able to play it without requiring digital/internet access. PC and especially GOG with no DRM is what matters. and if we have to on PC we can create/share our own patches to keep games running.
If you look into the history of Xbox in Japan going back from when it was conceptualized and presented to focus groups Japan was very against a western console entering their market before it was even released. Due to this, Microsoft codenamed the original Xbox "project Midway" during its development for Japanese release (If you know your WW2 history you'll get it).
Nintendo learned their lesson with the Wii U, it nearly bankrupted them, and they have always been all about affordable gaming so the Switch 2 costing more than 300$ would not be unreasonable but 500$? Not in a million years.
I remember there being a lot of Pokémon vs Digimon discussions back in the early 2000s. I think Nintendo and Pokémon company have gotten too used to not having a significant competitor in the monster raiser & battler genre. Also I can only hope with the karge amount of Nintendo games announced for early/March 2025 that the new Nintendo system gets announced sooner than later. It feels like a lot of game devs are deleting games to upgrade them to new system
Everytime you say they might have a new game coming to Switch like a new Fzero they drop it the next day...I think you know something your not telling us or are telling us 🙏🏼
@Incompetent_Hero the characters aren't dead, most of them all make appearances in the anime, it's just the anime follows it's own story and timeline separate from the games, because it is an adaptation
As a dev: We're skipping the Xbox platform because it's a lot of work to port to another platform. Like, way more work than people realize, in terms of the amount of approvals and back-end stuff you need to do. With Xbox, that includes a whole second SKU for the S series, and frankly, their customer base are all obsessed with Game Pass and don't like to buy things (yes, I am generalizing and there are exceptions, but Xbox is by far the most subscription-oriented platform), so if you aren't going onto XGP, it's not a very enticing proposition to get onto their store.
Used to be an Xbox live subscriber since the 360. Dropped it when game pass raised my price twice and nothing good put out in years. The best they had was mediocre at best. I'll game on my laptop and switch before buying another Xbox console at this point and not miss anything important.
Jon being optimistic, Nintendo is simply celebrating F-Zero's anniversary while taking advantage of its fans to push them into subscribing to NSO and NSO-EP!
To look at it from another angle, it's something they're giving to their sizeable existing customer base, a nice little treat for all the people who bought the expansion pass. When they're fishing for subscribers, they instead do stuff like bribing people with Gold Points (and I would know) 😂
The Day Before Dev's want 15 grand to make a game? They should first look to themselves and hope their credit rating is good enough. Fool me once shame on them, fool me twice, shame on me
Didn't Microsoft buy up like a third of the American video game industry so they didn't have to worry about what third party devs want. Just order the studios you own to make new entries in the thousands of franchises you own
What if Nintendo makes the dock optional? Two sku's at laucnh: One with the dock "The 4k machine" and the other "The travel machine". Basically launching a Switch 2 lite and a normal one at the launch of the console.

But do you pick up metaphor now or wait a year for them to release it again with an expansion built in?
@Spawn Wave I'm sorry but in my opinion you are wrong. A $500 sticker price is a shock to me and my family. I love the switch and other Nintendo products, but personally my family and I can't afford a $500 gaming system. I'd rather have cloths on my children and have them food and some where to live. Not everyone is rich, and can buy every new system when they come out.
Why wont Nintendo bring back Punch-Out!!!. Just port the Wii version.
The characters are way too diverse to the point of stereotypes and this lame world we live in today would cause Ragetardation
I don’t think controls would be an issue but what you’re saying about porting the game as a whole, yeah that is most likely the issue. I would rather a new punch out over a port of the Wii game but hey I’d take either at this point
@@glaceRaven Not really, you could play Punch out wii with an NES controller and Nintendo has an in house Wii emulator for Tegra hardware which they've used a couple times now, could easily be a 20 bucks eshop drop to gague interest in a new one.
We don’t need tit
Fntastic Games think they can come back with a, "Baby, please! I can change!" and still pull the same scam.
People always assume they're rereleasing F-Zero GX, but it could be F-Zero AX as well.
I mean, they're both on the original GC disk. For the most part.
Larian studios added mods for ps5.
And its completely free, take notes bethesda.
John’s top 3 words used in news wave:

I think I'd replace awesome with situation lol

"Back in the day"

I feel i am out on the DLC and expansions. After i play a game and it is a long time afterward that i either finished or got sick of it, it is a very very long time before I am in the mood to return to it for a replay. With new games pouring out of the industry like they are now it is almost pointless to return to a game. Starfield was an okay story but nothing got me emotionally tied to the idea of starting it again, at least not this year.
the problem i have is that i'm totally out of practice by the time the DLC/expansion drops and sometimes it's the hardest part of the game
Yeah getting reacquainted with the controls is a huge problem for me. I really want to play the FFXVI expansions but I have to put a bunch of hours in New Game+ mode to reach the points in the game to play those expansions. So annoying!
Can't wait to play Palworld on my Nintendo Switch
The lite keeps me going at the laundromat and those crazy waiting room experiences.
This better lead to a GX remaster
Played the metaphor demo, have had this preordered forever cannot wait for the full release
I hope they may now consider bringing the F Zero X expansion pack from the 64DD over to NSO.
F-Zero getting all this love from Nintendo lately is magical ✨️
Is it weird that to this day, I've yet see a single gameplay video of The Day Before?
I don't think we should ever just "get over" when something cost half a thousand dollars just because it's new and upgraded. For a lot of people, including myself, committing myself to a product that cost even $200-300 feels like a massive hit, even if it's an investment. Like if this is the standard going forward, I'd rather 2nd hand purchase a lot of things like i do for games and waiting for sales.
Metaphor looks excellent thus far, it’s yet another great game for gaming this year
I think Nintendo is using F-Zero 99 to test out how an F-Zero title would be received and research what people expect from it in the modern landscape. Hear me out:
>It's a cheap 2D title to produce
>Experimenting with gameplay and live service elements is relatively inconsequential because of the minimum investment needed to support the title (from the simple visuals to the small amounts of data required for online)
>Listening to feedback and implementing changes
>Observing how people interact with the game
This game is fantastic R&D for Nintendo to leverage when designing the next full-fledged entry in the series.
Why are devs skipping Xbox? Because Microsoft hasn't given anyone an actual reason to buy one.
They need to stop bringing games to PS5 and kill PC Game Pass entirely.
F-Zero is soooooo back baby... Switch 2 will overflow with F-Zero godliness... this is not a new F-Zero game... this is just a TRIBUTE!
Nintendo is testing the waters to see if there's still interest in F-Zero. The Switch 2 will have a completely brand new F-Zero title.
Nintendo are Nazis. If they release a new F-zero I'll pirate it if I even care to play it.
6:46 new F-Zero incoming!
They're teasing us about f-zero, taunting us saying 'remember this series you love? No. We're never giving you a new version! Muahahaha'
While Metaphor is got good ratings in Japan, the english translation is done by those DEI people.
The F-Zero situation is crazy.
I am so excited for Metaphor Re Fantazio! Easily my GOTY maybe even game of the decade!
I liked the demo so much Ipreordered. I was really impressed and hop the rest of the game matches the high quality of the start.
Hell yeah preach
I was excited before as it was atlus but after that demo I'm so glad i got the collectors edition
@@Soraking007 I also got the collectors edition! 😊
F-Zero Climax plays great on modded 3DS
If they are releasing something with the power of 10 year old console $500 is too much, $399 is max , just because sony is being arrogant with their customers does not mean Nintendo has to be. For $500 i expect a ps5 or series x equivalent performance not xbox one ps4
Question is will Metaphor get the Royal treatment and make you buy the game all over again.....
😩
Could always compensate all the games not getting a GP deal with a 10% cut on games actually sold despite the GP interference.
But I suppose that is unlikely when various subscriptions (Ubisoft EA) being pushed on PS won't even sell the game separately when it is available on those. Or even PS+. It's nuts how hard subscription is pushed.
"Hey we've spent all of your money, can you give us more?"
Thanks John. My kids already tell me how old I am, but you reminding me how old the ps2 is just added to that 😅
Here's one for the algorithm. Thanks as always!
Xbox pretending like they don't know why they keep getting skipped is hilarious😂. Xbox knows why😂😂
xbox is taking zero accountability & acting dumb, They should know why
When you purposely ignore perfectly valid criticism (and create a "safe space" echo chamber instead) every failure becomes an "unsolvable mystery".
I don't count: "We blame the boogeyman!" as solving anything, that's just an excuse.
Out of all the companies who make consoles for computer illiterate children, Xbox is the only one who releases games day 1 o. Their console AND pc.
They're winning in my book.
@@Happy_Hand That would be wonderful, if they made any games I cared about. (or could even maintain the franchises that used to be great)
Enjoy Fable: What the hell is even that? 4 😒
That's because pony station Nintendo are still using yesterday frameworks from yrs ago and devs are used to it so they create for paystation n Nintendo instead remember Xbox series has latest and unique technology that's far advanced for newbies the tools are there but devs are lazy abd don't understand the tech because it's brand new state of the art frameworks and gone are flaws of yesterday
*In Japan, XBox has the lowest Market Share, because it’s not a very respected brand.*
*I see Westerners are realizing more and more how much physical media matters*
I never understood Digital ownership. Why pay the same for something you can’t keep in your library after the console’s end?
physical media doesn't really matter that much.
many physical disc still require checking in to the game maker server or the console manufacturer's server, which really defeats the advantage of being able to play it without requiring digital/internet access.
Japs need be a little less racist
@@RinaRetro yet pc has done it for 15+ yrs....
Spawnwave you need to educate your fans on what anti-consumer is, they're lost!
"It takes 80 hours to complete, but if you include the gameplay, it takes over 100 hours."
uhh what?
Those that says they do buy games on game pass only buys them when it's 80% off and thinks that would convince developers to make more games for Xbox.
Any backer of the The Day Before scammers are probably some of their relatives.
Online multiplayer for older games is probably the best part of NSO.
Wow. From 26K votes 90% have a Switch? That's surprising.
Everytime you say they might have a new game coming to Switch like a new Fzero they drop it the next day...I think you know something your not telling us or are telling us 🙏🏼
Now I just wish Nintendo would give us an official localization of the F-Zero anime, since it didn't workout with 4Kids lol
I wish it didnt go the route of "its set after the games and characters you know are dead" i fell off after 5 or 6 episodes
@Incompetent_Hero the characters aren't dead, most of them all make appearances in the anime, it's just the anime follows it's own story and timeline separate from the games, because it is an adaptation
I know nothings going to come out of all this F-Zero love. But deep down I know with 100% certainty that GX 2 is coming out baby!
Looks like F-Zero will be a launch title for Switch 2
They must be joking. The day before was a total scam and you want to keep going and deserve a second chance?! Nah we're good!
Studio Zero isn’t the Persona team. It’s ran by people who didn’t want to work on Persona anymore. Studio P is the Persona team.
$70 for a remaaster is crazy it’s gonna be in games pass or $30 in 6 months
Ill pay 500 for the Switch 2. The Switch is the only modern console i have any interest in. Better than paying 700 for a ps5 "pro"
Switch² coming it at 399 for main system and 250 for mini when it drops.
Used to be an Xbox live subscriber since the 360. Dropped it when game pass raised my price twice and nothing good put out in years. The best they had was mediocre at best. I'll game on my laptop and switch before buying another Xbox console at this point and not miss anything important.
Game Pass Ultimate is $20 a month or $240 a year. That is most kids game budget. If a game isn't on Game Pass they can't afford to play it.
Wow 22 years.. someone gave me Siren because she didn't like it. Ive had it all this time and never played it.. time is a bitch
Sometimes when you come back, it should only be in POG form. Like Alf.
Jon being optimistic, Nintendo is simply celebrating F-Zero's anniversary while taking advantage of its fans to push them into subscribing to NSO and NSO-EP!
Nobody is forcing you to subscribe to NSO, you seem salty.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 who said I'm even subbed to nso? I don't even like F-Zero 😂
To look at it from another angle, it's something they're giving to their sizeable existing customer base, a nice little treat for all the people who bought the expansion pass.
When they're fishing for subscribers, they instead do stuff like bribing people with Gold Points (and I would know) 😂
Bigger stuff>Quick news outta the way
The Day Before Dev's want 15 grand to make a game? They should first look to themselves and hope their credit rating is good enough. Fool me once shame on them, fool me twice, shame on me
The Day Before “developers” have done a reboot more than once before. So, that’s not going to fly….
Screw game pass, just a shitty way to make games worse
Didn't Microsoft buy up like a third of the American video game industry so they didn't have to worry about what third party devs want. Just order the studios you own to make new entries in the thousands of franchises you own
What if Nintendo makes the dock optional? Two sku's at laucnh: One with the dock "The 4k machine" and the other "The travel machine". Basically launching a Switch 2 lite and a normal one at the launch of the console.
But it's not. A switch lite is smaller and only handheld.
Then, it will not be a "Switch".
Switch is the GOAT. I think I'll be playing it forever.
on the note of F-Zero, i'd say that F-Zero X has the best music while F-Zero GX has the best gameplay.
Xbox creates and heavily promotes a rental service and then wonders why people dont buy games on Xbox. lol
Yep and they don't lock in any exclusives or continue valuable IPs which is just odd. I like having xbox around bc it's good to have competition but they seem to really have no idea how to compete. We need another Sega type company to release a good system with support structure of good games
Xbox doesn't force developers to use gamepass. Developers have options and giving players and developers options doesn't hurt developers.
I have gamepass & buy games as do others here in comments...
@@mikeuk666 exactly, plus gamepass isn't just a rental service. You get xCloud and big discount on games.
People are just hating on gamepass when it has nothing to do with developers not coming to the Xbox platform.
Phil Spencer is so clueless
I'm pretty sure I've had Siren in my library for over 5 months dont know why Jon thinks it just got added
