It is always good to ask locals for good local food place recommendation. The cheesecake place, it’s good for IG posting, so overrated. If you are in Kuantan on Sunday, you can head towards Taman Gelora from 4 or 5pm for the weekend market to experience more delicious food. You can always ask passerbys or stall owners, for food like Sata Ikan, Ayam Pagang, Rojak Ayam, Laksa, Laksam, Nasi Dagang, Kueh Melayu, etc. and ppl will assist.
For the pudding, the yellow noodles like thing actually was a egg yolk. Back in the day it was the dessert serve to the King, that y the name was puding diraja (royal pudding).
Only cake shop I've ever been with security on the door 🤣 so definitely a popular place in Kuantan, I had the burnt cheesecake and it was good, nothing that special though. Hope you guys are enjoying the East coast as much as I did 🙌

@@EllisWR Cheesecake does freeze pretty well but personally I don't do that as I want everything to be as fresh as possible. Don't know about Malaysia but when I made some for friends in Indonesia the cream cheese was very expensive so thats maybe why they freeze it, to lower wastage. Even still though Malaysia is a hot country, it won't take long to defrost haha Other way round to you again then haha I was thinking Philippines after Sabah. Have to see though, still many places I haven't been to in SE Asia. Look forward to watching your journey for some ideas 👌 keep up the good work 🙌

Curry on a banana leaf the local way, looked so good. Kitten made me smile. l just got clawed feeding a stray kitten and its mum. The poor things were so hungry fighting over the food, l got in the way.

U should also try d cheesecakes from Secret Recipe, it's in d city centre, I really like d macadamia salted caramel cheesecake n New York cheesecake. D lamb shank n fish n chips at Secret Recipe r also quite nice n affordable.
If u guys r still in Kuantan, try sate Zul, I find it's quite nice n tasty, d price per stick is more expensive than other satay coz it's chunkier. Some say it's overrated.

@@EllisWR since you’re already in kuantan, I’m not sure whether you got a chance to try ana ikan bakar petai or not. Ikan bakar means grilled fish but added with petai. I don’t know how to translate petai, but it sort of beans. So ana ikan bakar petai is quite famous over there and i usually have it for my dinner every-time i go to kuantan. Maybe if you got chance to try, you can have it together with grill squid, or butter prawn together with plate of rice.

The yellow stuff is likely dal curry ( lentils ). The warm water drink , is a local belief that its good for your health , all over Asia actually. I think this idea is Chinese in origin, i could be wrong. Rose water drinks are popular during Muslim festivies and Muslim weddings.
