This was the best Ridgeline review by a dealer I have seen. Well done sir!
Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
@@justinsellscarsdotca1960 I appreciated your very informative, no-fluff, professional review! Great work! I will be in the market soon for a new Ridgeline.
Outstanding video and I greatly appreciate the in depth review. You are an asset to London Honda.
This is actually the 1st RTL-E video that I have seen on YT. I would recommend putting that in your heading as seemingly every other review is for the Sport.
@@imribs Thanks for the very kind words!
@@imribs It's just that when a Black Edition or White Black rolls off the Truck, its SOLD... these things are flying off the lots.... I'm over to the WEST in Alberta... the Honda's are like the flies to the BIG BAD Trucks that all these OIL guys drive around in... but, here is the thing, in a TENT while camping.... its the FLY that keeps you up all night is that not correct... or well, mosquito.... the Ridgeline are the mosquito's of the TRUCK WORLD...
Excellent presentation, especially explaining the most important features. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Appreciate the kind words!
Really loving the exterior. 2 things need to come back on the interior, shift lever instead of buttons and buttons for control of the infotainment.
The Volume knob coming back is a start!
Shifters I think are in the past though since most transmissions are electronic and the shifters are mostly just for show.
@@justinsellscarsdotca1960 something to grab onto when you're in a HARD corner....but then end up slamming it into neutral... Crap, then what.... maybe they can introduce a REAL Stick and clutch....
No way, the buttons are just so easy, and take up so much less space....
I don’t know how any dealers are gonna sell their leftover 2020’s with the new ones also on the lot.
cheap. lol they will have to sell them cheap
at least 10k off...I wouldn't touch a 20' unless it was a hell of a deal...
@@jedknutson8373 haha... so true man, nobody is going to buy them for full price.
If you can find one...😅
@@moegurgi but then, the 2019's are in higher demand because it still has a stick.... Guys and their Sticks.... can't live with them, can't without.... LOL...we need to laugh more!!
Like your presentation
Who was driving the car?
lucky Canadians get the cooled seats. Must be the warm Canadian weather :) Here in the US, we only have the heated seats
jokes aside, I don't think I have ever needed cooled seats, (west coast) summers are cool enough most of the time you won't even need AC, except like maybe a total of 1 week will be around 30 degrees if you have passengers/dogs, you might want to turn on the AC to accommodate others.
@@kpokfposkf SORRY... we as Canadian are real sorry.... It's nice to know that the seats will cool us off, I do believe though ONLY in the 2 higher trims... so a Sport does not have ventilated seats either....
Best description of this new 2021 Ridgeline I seen yet, nice job!! Question, is the in dash Honda CD Player still an option? - Thanks.
Hey Chuck!
Sadly no! The audio has gone fully digital, so USB and Bluetooth are your only options for outside music!
@@justinsellscarsdotca1960 Thank you for your reply, tho I use the bluetooth & USB, I'm kind of a dinosaur with a ton of CD's and sonically I think they sound better. Thanks again for your reply.
@@587G I definitely agree! Unless you have the Lossless Audio (.flac) files, the CD quality is always going to be clearer. ESPECIALLY compared to streaming via bluetooth.
There is a AUX option in the center console, above the USB
I have a 2020 Sport guess when I bought mine I was more interested in all the room for storage in the trunk and back seat not what the front end looks like can’t see it from my vantage point anyway and the volume control is on the steering wheel. After driving a 99 Mazda B3000 for 20 years my 2020 has a few thing’s I don’t like but those few things I can shut of when I’m driving. Thanks for the reviews.
Definitely gonna be the replacement for my Colorado
Trading up my 2019 EX-L Ridgeline to a 2021 Black Edition.
My ONLY gripe about the 2021 is the physical volume knob. So out of place when everything else is touch.
Never had a problem with the touch volume control in my 2019. There's a physical volume control on the steering wheel even.
Don;t understand why they did it.
Honda had multiple consumer requests to bring back the physical volume knob.
Great video Justin! One question. Would you happen to know why the Ridgelines in the US, where I live do not have ventilated/heated seats in the front and heated seats in the back of the top of the line models? I can't fathom that!
Hi Alex, That's a good question! We're not sure why? Honda makes those decisions at the corporate level on what features come in vehicles made for certain markets.
@@YourLondonHonda Thanks Justin!
Awesome review 👍🏽 it would be a nice if the music was turned off or reduce volume while speaking.
Noted. Thank you!
I agree, it's very distracting!
Thought I had it at a good balance! Thanks for the feedback!
@@squidusn71 Good to know! Thanks!
The lowd music ruined this video 😅
You didn't mention the Electronic Tailgate Lock. Front Passenger Seat with 4-Way Power Adjustment is NOT available in all models, the Sport doesn't have it. The Wireless Phone Charge is NOT available in all models, only the RTL-E and the Black Edition.
ya.... BASE.... so ya want them things... move on up the line.... NO ROOF either... another reason to move up!
Do you know if the power steering is electric ?
Great question! Yes it is. Thank you, London Honda
Already know my move at the dealership I will straight go for the 2020 model just to get a good deal, if not then I'll get the 2021 owell.. nun like paying of a truck before 100,000 miles
the big issue was always the trans cool being removed.
I Needed this review!
Thank you!
I would absolutely love to get one of these it's like a modern elcamino
Nice!
Why does Canada need cooled seats?
Couldn't tell you why they're exclusive to us, but I love having them - especially in the summer after a round of golf.
I've seen this with other manufacturers over the years, it's almost like there's a law or something. You would think that option would sell in places like SoCal, the southwest, well just about anywhere in the states.
Well we are up North more then you so we are closer to the SUN... it gets HOT here so, ya we need to cool the Boys off.... I hate to say this, I owned a KIA Sportage...for 45K this thing had everything, including Cooled seats....that was 3 Auto's ago! yet the Mercedes AMG didn't have cool seats...and 35K more than the KIA.... what up with that?
still no cd player !! not even in the top of the line rtl-e Why??
lmao everyone streams music now CD's players are a thing of the past.
@@willr5372 WELL.... I wish they just left it in, my 2019 had it, MY WIFE still purchases the odd CD...sometimes you just want to slide one in.... I'll miss it as I moved up to the 2021... gotta have Twin or DUAL Exhaust....locking tailgate with FOB and wireless charging... BOOM.... you got to drive this thing, it should be called a SUT ( Sport Utility Truck )
Cmon Honda - give it the infotainment everyone wants, the Accord system with tuning knob. Also need wireless carplay and android auto.
360 cam with trail cam also.
london honda is located in Ontario Canada?
Yes we are!
Yeah! Minnesota Wild!
Go Wild!
I’m ordering me one in red, my only real complaint is how much it tows.
I’m in the same boat... everybody else is showing bigger numbers with their midsized trucks but the Ridgeline has been stuck at 5k for over a decade....must be because it doesn’t have a solid rear axle. Hell, I think the new explorers are towing 6,200 without a solid rear end... hard to say but I wish it towed a little more.
@@JackofAllTrades1 I pull a 20ft. Skeeter bass boat with a dual axle trailer. With gear and all it’s almost 4000lb. The AWD models are rated at 5000 lb. max. It pulls it fine and averages14 mpg. @ 75 to 80 mph highway. Very comfortable and very satisfied.
@@snakebit3159 the question I have for you then... do you prefer this Gen 2 refresh over the initial Gen 2.... I really would love to be able to pull a camper.
@@JackofAllTrades1 The front on either one is fine with me....The volume knob is no big deal either because I use the steering wheel volume control.
@@JackofAllTrades1 The Ford eco boost motors are strong. But I like the naturally aspirated motor for ownership of 10 years or more.
Hi, what Honda models are assembled in Canada?
Hello, The Civic and CR-V models are assembled in Canada.
Better grill reminds me 1st gen
That's what I thought too!
It’s 99% the same, thanks but I’ll buy the 2020 and save a ton of $$$.
Is it a body on frame truck???
No frame my friend.
Unibody with added rail stiffners where needed.
Why you want that old bof?? This is 2021 bro wake up
@@riderblack6401 what makes it better???
Cooled seats? Are we sure about that?
Hi Marty! Yes, the Canadian version comes with cooled seats.
Cooled seats? Not according to my dealership. Someone is misinformed and is misinforming me. Not sure who it is yet.
Your dealership is wrong I have heated and cooled seats. Find another dealership.
I got em.... the Canadian Trucks got the Cooling seats as well..... maybe in the RTL-E in the USA.... call them and confirm....
The drink holders need to be bigger or at least one
Noted!
The gen 1 can hold 32oz Nalgene bottles.
Dang! ya, no SUPER SIPPERS from 7-11.... but then your free 8oz coffee would be all over that when you test out the TORQUE Vectoring.... this thing is so awesome in that test... I tried to flip it many times and it PULLS out so gracefully....
I never understand why people wanted wireless Apple CarPlay. I always want my phone to be plugged in so it stays charged while I’m playing music.
Most of the older generation models come with a plug-in for charging. The newer models are switching over to wireless charging, so there's no need for a plug-in cable.
The stupidity of offering ventilated seats on Canadian models, but not US ones, is staggering!
I think it's the same option. The heating and cooling function is the same piece of equipment. Canadians are going to want the heated seats and the cooling function just comes along for. the ride.
@@chriscomfort1378 my ‘19 Black Ed. (US model) has heat but not vent, so there are 2 different heating units, then.
@@jaker1160 That is odd. The trim level options appear to be different for US and Canadian models. To get the ventilated seats you need the Touring model which starts at $53,000 CAD + tax. Ouch. Even when you convert to US dollars it's high.
@@chriscomfort1378 well, i paid for top of the line model, so I believe the Ridgeline is great value. However, ventilated seats is not an option on any model, in the US for 2021.
@@jaker1160 YEAH CANADA.... so funny hey? same assembly line.... sorry about that though... so far I have not used that feature....my wife in another vehicle mistakingly push mine on in the winter...she is such an ICE Queen.... I was Frozen.... maybe it was not a "mistake"..... ha ha
The music volume is annoying dude!
Thought I had it at a good balance! Thanks for the feedback!
Wireless charger not standard in the US
Neither is heated steering wheel, or power passenger seat.
Higher trim levels in US RTL-E and Black Edition have wireless charger.
Heated Steering Wheel standard on US RTL-E and Black Edition Trim levels.
More liters/100km? I thought better fuel economy means less liters/100km. 1:10
Stumbled over his words! Rest assured, it's just as good if not better than the outgoing model!
Still get a little rattled in front of the camera! haha
If it tows 5k does it have trailer brakes?
No not from the factory.
I towed a Ford Contour on a U-haul trailer , total of a little over 5000 lbs, for 1200 miles with absolutely no problems. The trailer, not the dolly, had the brakes that work with the tongue of the trailer. I stressed about it but once on the road I didn’t know it was back there even in the mountains. I’m a little more concerned with my new 2020 with the nine speed transmission . I hear there may be issues with that.
“Wider stance”??
Yes sir! The wheelbase is 10mm wider!
I think it was done by using a different offset or backspacing on the wheels.
Truck looks great and great video. Now they need to redesign the box so it doesn't look like a min van with a box on on the frame and put a V8 in it.
Awesome review - Wild hat needs to go. :)
I'm not impressed. Honda is way behind the competition in regards to tech. That drivetrain is outdated. No turbo option? The entertainment system is lame with no wireless CarPlay/ Android Auto capability. The instrument cluster is boring.
This is not a redesign it a mid cycle refresh. They just put the 9 speed transmission in last year. The also fixed rear doors to open wider last year. There was door hack that helped 2017-2019.
The 3rd Generation Ridgeline will ride on a version of the 2022 Acura MDX platform. Look at the wider stance on it.
What do you drive NOW, bob? I wanna be impressed with that answer....
BUT MAN I AM IMPRESSED with your BAND.... imagine all the GEAR you can carry around in your Awesome New Honda Ridgeline White Black Edition... one day I was picking up my Nokian WGR4's...ya I swapped the OEM out.... the girl there was digging on the Ridggy.... she said she didn't like the White, that was a loaner I said I had the Black Black Edition.... then another said... That's an awesome Truck...does it come in White? YA, its on its way.... ha ha.... and I am sure that you have a vintage Auto to go along with the DRUMS ?
@@MiCoopRS Hahaha! Honda better wake up real soon!
Tucson Sport that has been modified by me to meet my current vehicle needs.
More liters per 100 km wow good to know.lol?!?!
Stumbled over my words! Rest assured, it's just as good if not better than the outgoing model!
"The spare has a lot easier access"... unless you are carrying a load in the bed, then it's next to impossible to get to. Carrying a motorcycle in the bed and get a flat? You have to unload the motorcycle first to access the spare. This is the worst feature of the Ridgeline, not a selling point
Fair point!
In other trucks, would you normally just jack up a truck with your motorcycle still in the bed? I haven't carried a load similar to that in any of my trucks.
Pray you don't get a flat.... in 20 years... I have NEVER had a flat.... so why do we even have to carry 50 pounds sometimes of something that consumes energy, it seems that the LAW only HURTS US... especially when It burns more FUEL which in turn we BUY more of which in turn we PAY taxes on and WHO collect that CHUNK of CASH..... OMG the same people that TELL US it's the LAW..... coincidence?
I prefer body on frame trucks
Very nice truck electronic transmission shifter needs to go it looks so ugly so cheap looking especially in a truck they need to put back the old shifter I wish Honda would listen to their customers a lot of people won't buy it because of that I know a few people put the shift to back you would have pretty much a perfect truck!!!!
geeeezuz 50k not even a damped tailgate I bet that will raise the price again on a redesigned Honda it's 2021!!!!
you can't dampen the gate as its the ONLY one that swings both ways.... I am sure in time they'll figure it out...BUT...if you owned one, you'd NOT smash it open knowing it's not dampened... if that is the ONLY thing that is stopping you from purchasing it....I'd say, grab your Money, get on over to the dealership and take a TEST drive then be prepared to Fall in love with the AMAZING TRUCK.... ya, I have had a 2019.... since 2019 and NOW am trading UP for the MORE aggressive looking... White Black Edition and I guess when I am done with Trucks... Move into a Passport, when Honda introduces a White Black Edition....having been given a Pilot BE.... ya,. I want an SUV soon, but for a few years, BOMB around in the Ridgeline.... (s)
Its "more reminiscent of a truck".
Good review, annoying, repetitive music though. Your review could do without that.
Touring? WTH is the Touring?
Touring is the top trim level in Canada. Similar to the RTL-E
@@YourLondonHonda Got it! Thank you!
This redesign is a feeble attempt to add the much needed masculinity the 2nd gen ridgeline lacks.
Definitely looks better.
we ned 2.4 best engine nowwwww
