It works! Thank you big time! I was holding the button when the cruise control was on and it didn't work. The cruise control has to be in the ready state but not activated for it to work.
Also I might have missed where you show heated windshield button, and using key fob to bring all windows down, and key in fob to bring all up without going to do them all without ignition system, which you can same method to bring up or down, also with sliding volume controls on the civic and Ridgeline pickup truck, you can one touch from high to low or push power button to turn off if someone needed to rush that much...too many people make things seem harder than reality, also steering volume controls even at highest volume, just holding it down work very fast.... thanks again Mike for an awesome review and keep enjoying your designed for North America and Canada, engineered and built in America by Americans pickup truck.
Let’s all be real here. People hate on the ridgeline cause it’s not a “truck” but for most people this is a perfect truck. Cab is spacious, rides like an suv, but a I’ll has a bed. Every time I took my Tacoma off-road, I know this could do the same . Unless you’re a rock crawler this is fine. Also if you’re looking at a midsize truck then towing isnt a concern to begin with
You are right. I own a Toyota Tundra, and I am thinking of trading that in and getting a new Ridgeline. I have never done any offroading, and this Ridgeline is just a lot more practical for daily use and offers a lot more tech & storage spaces than the ancient Tundra.
@@pancho1071 the el camino and ranchero are cars, built on a car platform with little to no off-road capability. this is a large suv(all the off-road capabilities an suv would need) with a bed, fucking stupid comparison lol
Give it some serious consideration - I just took the plunge last week and so far I couldn't be any more satisfied with my choice. FWIW: my taller-than-average 4 year old son can sit comfortably in his full size car seat installed on the back seat while still just leaving adequate space for my wife in the front passenger seat. He loves riding in there, and my wife really enjoys the comfortable ride and dual-zone climate control.
I purchased a 2021 RTL-E last month. Great truck, great features and options. Everytime I drive this truck, I love it that much more. Great ride and handling. Averaging 23.5 mpg for overall driving.
The Ridgeline is a fantastic little truck. Everytime I see these things offroad they impress me (and I see alot of trucks offroad) and the on-road comfort is 2nd to none for a truck. The updated grill was a much needed update
Maybe for its class but a ram with air suspension rides better than an S class and is worlds better than the Honda which isnt nearly as compliant over rough pavement.
Yeah man. This guy is by far one of the best and most complete reviews I get to see for any car Im interested. So much details he comes with. Like me, just subscribe.
Ive owned two Tacoma TRDs which is a cool looking dependable truck but I'm just tired of the crude handing, brakes * still drums in back!* and driving position. I test drove Ridgeline and was immediately impressed. It's a very clever well thought out practical truck with an excellent redesign. In was especially interested in all aspects of the truck bed, storage etc and your real life detailed exploration was great.
I like how the center counsel is low and you dont have to use the arm rest if you dont want to. I live in AZ where its gets really hot and im cooler when there isnt a center counsel next to my upper body. Might seem insignificant to some but its huge in Arizona.
I feel like this is a truck 90% of most truck owners actually need realistically. I think it’s biggest issue is the price. I know Honda doesn’t do a lot or rebates or incentives. I myself am in the market for a truck and I think this hits everything I’d ever need really. But when you consider you can get a 1/2 ton truck with tons more towing and payload capabilities for the exact same price after incentives and rebates it’s a hard sell. If it’s gonna cost the same I feel like it needs something special that it just dosnt have. Like crazy good gas mileage, a crazy good interior with a large amount of standard but luxury features on the base model(kinda like Kia did with the stinger gt), or a really low price that under cuts 1/2 tons enough to make it worth taking the lower specs over the 1/2 tons. None of which it does unfortunately. I think it’s missing that wow factor to make it super competitive. With this more “truck” style I really do like it a lot more now and definitely will consider it in my purchase! But when you can get a 1/2 ton with much higher ratings for the same price or a mid size with better ratings for less it’s a really hard sell logically speaking. This is just my opinion but I just feel it’s so close to benign something extremely special it’s just missing that “wow” thing ya know? Do I ever need to tow 9000lbs regularly? No but who’s to say I may not need to once down the road and having that opportunity if I ever needed is a big reason why. I think most buyers will lean towards the 1/2 ton trucks mainly due to them being the same price basically.
Exactly! I was thinking the same thing. I've been doing my research. I want a quality small - to midside truck. But, with the Ridgeline price, I might as well get a 1/2 Ton.
Which AWD crew cab truck with LED headlights and all safety features can I buy for $34k that gets 24mpg? I've looked at 4x4 trucks but it seems impossible to put anything desirable out the door for less than $50k
Honda Ridgeline; Dependability, Reliability, Serviceability, Resale, Ride, Comfort, Resale. No package better for what it is. I traded a 6 year old GMC in for a 2021 Ridgeline, impressive MPG, roads well, pulls my 24’ pontoon with ease.

Just bought a 2021 Honda Ridgeline RTL last week and I’m loving it! Got it with the bed top as well which looks really nice. For those concerned with price, I looked at the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger Lariat, Ford 150 Lariat, GMC Canyon, and Nissan Frontier before making my decision. I could not find anything that had full four door cab, powered leather heated seats, adaptive cruise control, rear camera, power moon roof and power rear window, and blind spot alerting. These were my requirements and my price was ~41k. Ford told me I’d have to sacrifice something…the 150 with desired specs was 60k, ranger lariat came close but was missing moon roof, rear window, and the cabin space seemed smaller. Tacoma has nice capability but lacks many features and the frontier was a joke. Go with the Ridgeline RTL trim :)
Oof, yeah I am in a similar boat. A ranger pushing 60k is nuts. Trying to find a stripper spec sport around here for something at least approaching MSRP...

This cosmetic update is a HUGE improvement over the bland, IMO ugly, 2016-20 style. One of the things I loved about the gen 1 Ridgeline was it's bold, utilitarian look. I had planned on buying a gen 2 until I saw the actual truck. Such a disappointment. This isn't necessarily utilitarian, but it's a lot more attractive.
Still been rocking the 2007 ridgeline. Really nice truck and built strong even after 250,000 miles. Still tows, launches and retrieves my 17' boat off of steep boat ramps better than other trucks I've seen out there. Dont know my many people dislike them. They are just great trucks. Great review, and I'm looking forward to owning one of these💯

Wonderful truck. My 2014 Ridgeline has the shifter on the column and gives you so much more room on the floor. Honda needs to put the shifter back on the column.
This truck in black is drop-dead gorgeous. Don't listen to the haters, it's a different truck than your standard fare but it rides better, gets better milage and is much more comfortable. Most yoked-up truck owners don't use the capabilities, it's more of a flex for them unless you need to pull over 5,000 lbs - no disrespect if you do but this will be my next vehicle purchase 100%. Great video also you're as good a salesman for the yellow pointer thing as for the truck.
Thorough. I’ve owned only Ridgelines since spring 2005 (called 2006). In the timber business, they’ve taken me everywhere I needed to go and brought me back. If a truck has no trunk I’m not interested. Just bought 2021 RTL.
Honda has come such along way when it comes to AWD and 4x4 and when I was in the USA back in 2000 I hired a Honda Pilot for around 4 weeks and it was the best Honda that I have ever driven and when I returned back to Australia I tried to buy one only to find that according to Honda Australia that these vehicles where not being released here which was a real disappointment and so I tried to get one sent to Australia through a Japanese importer only to find that I could not get it registered or complied here in Australia. I really do like the new Honda Ridgeline and maybe this will finally come to Australia and can only hope it does. Thank you for your look around on this vehicle.
Nice review of a highly underrated TRUCK! I especially like the detailed examination of all the different features and body construction. Great Job! Love the base vehicle. Also... the hood "gap" variance is apparently a normal thing. Weird huh? Why not make it flush? Really considering this truck!
Your reviews are the most complete on TH-cam Thanks, PLEASE when you can get your hands on a 24 Ranger Lariat can you review it for us Thanks from South Ga.
Great review! Really appreciate the clear views of all the placards with the specs. The only other thing I would have liked to see is you sitting behind your self to show rear passenger leg room. Thanks!
When it has the Honda name on it, pretty much can be assured of quality. If one was in the market for a lighter duty truck this would be a top contender. It's a shame American trucks have gotten so rediculously expensive, those GM trucks are awesome.
I have a 2021 Sport. The handling really is wonderful, no axle- hop like lesser vehicles. MPG is above EPA too. My only cons are not enough ground clearance and the steering is too light. Overall, it's the best truck for most of us.
i test drove a 2022 and absolutely loved it. honda engineering and ergonomics have always been good. great value at $40-45k compaired to the competition. the biggest pill to swallow is the up front taxes and high insurance cost on a brand new vehicle.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 Keys are usually made of brass.. The chunk of pot metal attached to the key does not add any strength or rigidity to the fob just dead weight.

@@elsanto8879 no, they make a ridgeline, along the lines of the old subaru brat. it's like a accord, with no trunk lid. it does not have a full frame, like trucks do.
I love the ridgeline and I want to own one. I only wish the swinging bed door would open in the center. I know the reason why it swings wide is because one piece is stronger than two smaller pieces.
The Sport trim in Black is like a budget "Black Edition" due to the blacked out trim. Looks sharp and seems very well equipped for the price. I am deciding between the Honda Passport and the Ridgeline - I love the fact that the Ridgeline comes with a hitch and 18" wheels. The Passport has goofy 20" wheels and the hitch is $$.
@@jsboening yes it is. I doubt you would find any engines now that are not interference. Any engine that doesn’t have an interference fit is low torque and low horsepower and poor fuel mileage.
the other comment was, it's not a TRUE dual Exhaust.... well when I was younger than today... way way younger...I owned a few Camaros and as much as I thought they were dual exhaust...the pipes split out of the final muffler, whereas here on the Ridgeline, the pipe splits way up near the engine, so the exhaust flows identically out the 2 pipes it is almost a perfect layout under that body... I think they did a terrific job.... 2 tiny mufflers and I might NOW go and get the ONE muffler swapped for a more DEEP THROATY sound...
Thanks for sharing Mike, I watched a few reviewers of this new redesign and they all say it's now looking more like a truck and more appealing....but none of these so called reviewers, don't notice this new front end is combination of both first generation and second generation especially good/ Bonet is like my 2010 as the shape of grille. They are probably some of same people that love talking about nobs, but never talk about steering wheel controls, which is customers use when driving. Thanks again Mike.
I have been in the market for a truck for several months now. However, I likely will wait until my Accord is paid off first. Hoping to see some additional upgrades from the current iteration; a little more powerful engine and perhaps better payload capacity. But considering since most Americans don't use their lifted F150 Raptors for off-roading, the capabilities of this vehicle are more than enough for what most Americans would want a truck for. For the occasional Home Depot run; buying some lumber for a small job or moving a piece of furniture, this truck will do the job. Most Americans buy the big lumbering giant trucks only to show off.
I would think the key fob needs to be somewhat heavy just so one can feel it in their pockets. She's a beauty tho! Definitely my next truck by the way.
We can only dream. Honda produces this truck 3” wider (cool unique wide look)… 2.5 inches higher. Tow capacity 6,500 lbs. MPG 30! Rear window goes up and down like a large door window (just because). What would you add? Great little truck for daily life and more. I want one!
I appreciate all the effort you put into this production the audio and video quality was very good. However, most of your time was spent on what I refer to as lipstick and rouge whereas I would have appreciated more time if not the majority of time spent on the mechanical aspects of this vehicle such as surface size of the front and rear brakes what type of brakes what size is a tow hitch inside dimensions of the bed, but hidden access to the gas flop and the tailgate hidden flap and all the mechanical fuel points on the motor and a little more talking about the maintenance required on this vehicle for example how expensive is it to keep it in compliance with warranty. Other things like actual headlight output would be nice and a brief description of what other trim levels will give you I think most people are buying the rtl-e trim
Great video. One incorrect thing. The usb in the console is not just power. It will play your music from a usb drive or music player. Salesman told me the same thing.
The space under the climate controls is for an optional CD player. Did they improve the cruise control from 2019, the adaptive cruise control shutting off at 21 mph is a pain. Also, the lane mitigation system isn't all that great. I do love the rest of the truck.
Most complete review I’ve seen this far. All others are 2 minutes. I wish it had all LEDs (DRL, Lo/Hi) and fog. Also wish it had a center console arm rest (rather than the flimsy fold downs). Would like a tow hook on the front end too. I’ll look at the RTL when they arrive on lots.
Have just begun to look at replacing my F150, and I used to transport Toyota’s in TX for several years. Your video was great, great attention to detail, impressive little truck, now I want to know about other trim packages & fuel ratings. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Only thing I wish it had is a menu in the instrument cluster screen to see what the awd system is doing, especially now that its standard across the board. I understand its more of a SH-AWD thing and thats normally reserved for the Acura's but it still would've been cool
I've read some folks compare this to an El Camino, which, engineering-wise, was sheer garbage. But, really, in my mind it reminds me of the '37-39 Studebaker Express... the classiest pick-up every made. The Ridgeline is definitely not nearly as good-looking... no pick-ups anymore are, they're ALL boring... but, the Ridgeline is definitely better engineered. The RTL-E trim-level is basically an Acura which tows 5000 lbs. You can't beat it. I'd still sell my soul for the Express though lol. Really nice, detailed, review. Thank you! I'm glad Ian didn't wallop you guys badly. P.S. Did they ever put a tailgate lock on the thing? I had to get a lock-kit for mine.
Mike, so in my 2019 I have the shifter knob, and on that shifter there is a button, I believe that it holds a gear in 4th maybe, so are the paddle shifters a way to HOLD in any gear if we select D/S..... I love the engine off system, you actually get 2 batteries, as only the engine shuts off, if you had the Air Conditioner on, it remains running..... I WISH that HONDA had Break Hold, meaning if I used the breaks and push a little harder, it HOLDS...at this point you can take your foot off and have it ready to push the accelerator quicker.... no lost time moving you foot from the Break to the throttle.... 2 seconds to beat the guy next to you when you're dragging another Truck at all the RED lights... Winner....

Best Ridgeline review on youtube Thanks Please do a review when the 2024 RTLE comes out Also love the pointer and the under-vehicle shot.
Hey Mike. Another Professional review video done. Background music, smooth zooming, elegant vehicle display. Beautiful angles takes. Clear voice sound and detailed explanation. Good Job, man.
Nice review of a highly underrated TRUCK! I especially like the detailed examination of all the different features and body construction. Great Job! Love the base vehicle. Also... the hood "gap" variance is apparently a normal thing. Weird huh? Why not make it flush? Really considering this truck!
Thank you for explaining what the spare tire tray does. Appreciate your video.
Sport trim looks a whole lot better than HD trim
LOL it was 2:40 into the review when I finally realize that is a cartoon hand on a stick you are using. LOL Very original.
The inbed trunk is definitely a game changer 😊
Just received my 2022 rtl ridgeline. And I think it’s the perfect truck. Most people are not going to tow up to 8000 pounds.
man, i LOVE this redesign! ------------------👉 great video
Ps I love both my 2010 and 2018 and will be getting new one.
Pennies a day
Clicked "like" immediately after the intro....
Love the Color on this one!! They should make a type R version of this truck with 500 HP
I believe that metal on the fob is an actual key you can pull out. Thank you for the review by the way! I'll be picking mine up in March or April.
The key is attached to the chunk of metal but the chunk of metal is not needed.
@@MikesCarInfo The chunk of metal makes it feel more robust and quality
@@MikesCarInfo they can’t make the key plastic, it has to be metal. Also, you don’t want your key fob to be cheap plastic lightweight.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 Keys are usually made of brass.. The chunk of pot metal attached to the key does not add any strength or rigidity to the fob just dead weight.
@@pennypingu The chunk of pot metal attached to the key does not add any strength or rigidity to the fob just dead weight.
Just found your channel. This is the first video I’ve watched that you’ve made. Outstanding review! I’ve never really liked Honda trucks but I have to say this years model is nice. Great job
honda doesn't make a truck...........so there is that!
@@billw8476 right. Except that they do
@@elsanto8879 no, they make a ridgeline, along the lines of the old subaru brat. it's like a accord, with no trunk lid. it does not have a full frame, like trucks do.
@@billw8476 good point. I’d never get one anyway. I’m more of a Tundra guy
@@billw8476 you really have an issue with it being called a truck, again and again. What’s the big deal.
I love the ridgeline and I want to own one. I only wish the swinging bed door would open in the center. I know the reason why it swings wide is because one piece is stronger than two smaller pieces.
And cheaper to manufacture. Less moving parts.
Great video I just bought the 2022 Ridgeline. This video gave me a wealth of information. Thank you
Gosh dang your videos are the most in depth. A++++ also I LOVE my Honda have a civic. Odyssey and a crv and am looking at a ridgeline very very soon.
Agreed and it doesn’t say black edition. Just seems tacky to me to have to advertise an appearance package.
It looks better underneath than above... well done.
38:55 They’re called folders🤣 Just drove home my first Ridegline…excited to drive it tomorrow am! Thanks for the video!
I wish Honda starts making their v6 engines with a timing chain instead of timing belt.
Anyone know if it’s an interference engine?
@@jsboening yes it is. I doubt you would find any engines now that are not interference. Any engine that doesn’t have an interference fit is low torque and low horsepower and poor fuel mileage.
Why would you put that plastic gutter in the back floor instead of recessing the retainer for the seat supports in the floor?
Now that was thorough. Thanks!
Great video, I have a 2021 Sport added power moonroof, leather and front and rear sensors through my dealer
the other comment was, it's not a TRUE dual Exhaust.... well when I was younger than today... way way younger...I owned a few Camaros and as much as I thought they were dual exhaust...the pipes split out of the final muffler, whereas here on the Ridgeline, the pipe splits way up near the engine, so the exhaust flows identically out the 2 pipes it is almost a perfect layout under that body... I think they did a terrific job.... 2 tiny mufflers and I might NOW go and get the ONE muffler swapped for a more DEEP THROATY sound...
That's an impressive truck. Nice video as well, it's very informative.
Its a great truck.Very nice review 👍
Mike you are awesome 😎 reviewing the Honda Ridgeline..great job.
Love my 2019 wish i could have kept my great 06 bought new to pass on to the grand kid.
I agree that button shifters are a lot more efficient from a space standpoint. I think people who insist on a shifter are missing the point.
The name of this channel should be "Tiny Yellow Hand Reviews"... With the catch phrase "Respect The Hand!"...
Just got me a Radiant Red one...love it...just like my trusted 2010 model...
This is an amazingly well-thought-out truck.
It's going to go the way of Toyota and hold it's value in the future as more and more people discover it.
I want one!
Great review. The detail is much appreciated.
Great video, you touched every button and even opened the compartment located in the bed.
Thanks Sir.......
Thank you for your feedback Philip
Really nice pointer used by the presenter!
Great video. One incorrect thing. The usb in the console is not just power. It will play your music from a usb drive or music player. Salesman told me the same thing.
I agree. I play music using a flash drive in my Ridgeline.
Apple CarPlay and Android requires the front USB port.
Your video quality is excellent!
Mike: quick question...
What comparable-priced vehicle has a smoother ride than a Ridgeline? I miss my 2017 Black Edition!
TIA!!!
Hard question. It is a smooth ride.
The space under the climate controls is for an optional CD player. Did they improve the cruise control from 2019, the adaptive cruise control shutting off at 21 mph is a pain. Also, the lane mitigation system isn't all that great. I do love the rest of the truck.
How does the tri-climate work. I’m hoping for big things for the 2023 Ridgeline. I think it will be redone.
Forgot about the auto off engine. I don’t love it (even though I can disengage).
Have just begun to look at replacing my F150, and I used to transport Toyota’s in TX for several years. Your video was great, great attention to detail, impressive little truck, now I want to know about other trim packages & fuel ratings. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Be nice if the camera didn't try to auto focus every .5 seconds, then I could see some of the features
Only thing I wish it had is a menu in the instrument cluster screen to see what the awd system is doing, especially now that its standard across the board. I understand its more of a SH-AWD thing and thats normally reserved for the Acura's but it still would've been cool
Want this truck. Now they just need to add the Accord infotainment system with the tuning knob.
great review mike. I am about to purchase this exact color year model vehicle. This gave me more detail
great in depth review!
Thanks Jason. Yes the tailgate locks when the vehicle is locked.
Have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport....love this vehicle alot. Next purchase
Winner....
Steve it is spelled - Brake....
Dude!!! Love the little yellow hand 😂🤣
