Mine did it every night in holiday. Left me and my sister in the hotel room whilst they went to the hotels restaurant and checked in on us every 20 mins. The hotel offered baby listening services so it can't have been a practice that was uncommon or frowned against.

it seems that all these parents left their children alone, while they went out to eat. I am a nanny, if I had done this I would have been throne into jail. because these parents were doctors they were not. They could and should have hired a nanny but they did not want to pay. They could have left the children at the night creche. I would never leave a child alone never! they could wake up feel scared, they could have a medical emergency, there could be a fire. While I feel awful that this happened and I hope they find Madeleine, this could have been prevented.
Yes, they were MUCH too young to leave alone. The very idea they even considered doing this is worrisome. Worse yet, why were the twins not taken away from them after this? At the very least they are neglectful parents who can't even take responsibility and say they did wrong by leaving them alone like this.

There had to be a period of unsupervised childcare otherwise a mythical abductor could not be entered into the mythical abduction plot. The facts of this case have never been aired via the media in Britain with them preferring to spout the mythical abduction line, which no evidence supports. the efit of the man carrying a child is no mystery it was actually a tourist attending to their own child of course we all would have known that earlier if the original investigators weren't incompetent and actually communicated with each other. you see the man in the efit contacted police very early in the investigation. personally i think maddie was taken because she wasn't the first or the last child to go missing from that resort and the surrounding area. just because they may be years apart it doesn't mean that it is just a coincidence. the mccanns may be suspicious but the resort is equally suspect in my opinion and not a safe place for anybody.

" If you think she was abducted why were there hairs with no root, not DNA testable, as root is required & "body fluids, showing evidence they'd been frozen" (exact words the Police used) in the car boot. The car was hired 3weeks later & had done 3times more miles than 1trip to a nearby town to leaflet & 2 airport runs, 1 for Gerrys UK day trip & 1 for their Pope visit . The fluid matched DNA wise by 14 out of 19markers. Most countries accept 14 as a match. The UK however require 15 as a 'match. And why did a blood dog & a cadaver dog alert to blood & corpse odour behind the sofa, in the wardrobe , on Kates clothes, at cuddle cat & in the car boot. A corpse has to be dead approx 1.5 hours before it emits odour detectable to flies, insects & other animals. Records were checked, no - one had ever died in that apartment. So whose corpse odour was it the dog alerted too....? And why did the car 'stink' so badly the boot was left open every night for a week, according to witnesses who'd travelled in it & were staying with the couple. Dirty nappies & leaking supermarket meat (Mcann explanation) would not make a cadaver dog alert, they're trained to only get a toy if they successfully detect corpse traces. Anything else they alert to is not rewarded & they'd fail training if repeating mistaken alerts. The dog search video is online as are the statements & crime scene video BTW. Add to that, they lied the window was forced. The only fingerprints, on the inside not the outside, were Kates. They changed their story the flat was locked. They refused to supply her medical records. They refused to supply their financial records. They refused to follow advice that showing her eye defect would make an abductor realise she was too recognisable & so kill her & published a huge, enlarged close up clearly showing her eye defect. They stated no hairbrush or toothbrush was available for DNA as she 'shared her toothbrush with Amelie' , (seriously, 2 Drs & hygiene issue of sharing toothbrush is fine)? And Gerry returned to UK for DNA & came back with a pillowcase not a hairbrush with rooted hair that could be tested & would show if she was ever sedated (sleep chart on wall at home, she had form for waking & wandering). They deleted 13 calls & texts to each other made that night. Kate refused to answer 48questions put to her. Kate refused a free UK lie detector test after asking for the questions up front (not procedure, time to rehearse?). The Priest who gave them church keys has told friends "I was deceived" but won't elaborate. The first Embassy rep left, citing in writing "grave concerns re their changing story & possible guilt". They say she's alive but never once express concern how she might be being treated. Her pink bkankie seen in crime scene pics went missing. A large black sports bag was missing from the apartment. Gerry lied a 10rh June call to Russell "using suspicious wording" was local. It was traced to an empty barn 28miles away. Stained beach towel found there tested inconclusive for DNA. None of the time lines or accounts of her last day tally. At all.
Just say your child HAD been taken by an intruder. Instead of protecting your other children in case intruder is still around (May have delivered child to car and be back for second child) you leave them and run to Tapas bar instead of shouting from balcony. Then in following week you drop remaining children off to resort creche knowing there is a pedophile on the loose. Doesn't make sense. Anyone really believing this would have had their parents on the next plane in to take their remaining children back to the UK while they searched high and low themselves. I did more searching when my dog was missing. Seriously how could they bear to spend all that time in their apartment "knowing" their child could be anywhere in the resort??

Madeleine was only 3 and Sean and Amelie were 2, and all 3 were fast asleep, and madeleine wouldn't have possibly had the strength to open the door by herself. He also, said. 'I remember standing at the door, looking at my 3 children, and then thinking' how beautiful they all were. Especially Madeleine, I had that proud, father/daughter moment, suspicious straight away. Why just stare at Madeleine, he had two other children, why focus on just one of them. He said all that, but he still left them on their own, even though he suspected that an intruder could have be in the apartment at that time, and Madeleine kind of hinting, that something weird happened the night before. Also, he checked on his children at 9.05, and then he said, he was only gone 5 minutes. Bullshit, Jane Tanner walked past him at 9.15 and he was talking to another hotel guest, and then when she returned, he was still talking at the side of the road, and then when she returned to the Tapas bar, Kate said to her 'Gerry has been gone a while'. So he was gone longer than 5 minutes, 20 minutes probably.
Martin Smith's 12 year old daughter made a statement saying the man she saw had buttons on his trousers. There's a photo of Gerry wearing a pair of trousers with buttons down the side. Coincidence or what?

It's so obvious the mccanns had something to do with their daughters death whether it was intentional or not. For me it's simple. You don't under any circumstance, leave your child who looks pale and washed, who tells you they were crying all night looking for where you were that night. It was not a one of where they left their child, it was consistent. This is in a foreign country. Your apartment is right at the edge of the building. These things shouldve been taken into considerations. The story just doesnt add up and all these new leads are taking us backward and not forward. These people have friends in high places. They are somewhat powerful and untouchable. For all we know, scotland yard knows that these people are guilty, but are avoiding the possibility of getting found out by Portuguese police and giving them ammunition for criticism. She said "we're never going to find Madeleine", because the Portuguese police had made them suspects. Instead of concentrating on finding the abductor they were concentrating on proving the McCanns were guilty. Surely open minded people can understand the McCann's fears and despair at that point.

They are exceptionally good at detecting the olfactory signature of decomposition and its difficult to explain why a cadaver dog should give so many false alerts in the apartment and car. D'Andre Lane and David Gilroy are in prison mainly due to these dogs.

Eddie was trained to identify blood, not just decomposing. No court in the land would accept the dogs as evidence without forensics.

They need to check the 'friends' who were leaving the tapas bar to check on the children. I'd like to know how long it took the police to check their friends rooms after the 'abduction'.

I have seen a video on here, a fact based one, called The true story of MM Buried by mainstream media, it is a four part one. I am shocked by what I see. I feel so badly for those children. That fighting fund that was set up we thought to help find MM. It has been so misused, the McCann's have spent over a million suing people who say anything against them. This is not something you do if you want to find your daughter, you want all that money to go towards finding her. I'm still looking into all this but, so far I am not impressed with these parents. Every time I have heard an interview they say something different concerning the events. That makes NO sense. The door closing with the wind - that was added later and she also changed the story to knowing right away someone took Maddie when the curtains went "woosh" but, later on in another video she says she went to check if Maddie was in her room then came back and saw the curtains go "whoosh." Tuesday Prichard yes, that is what I don't like, the story keeps changing. I live in America, and quite a few Americans say the British public are being fooled. That is it a sure thing that the parents drugged their kids, that maddie died, and they made up this whole story to protect themselves because they knew that they would not be able to work again with a neglect charge/accidental death charge over them. Some think that there is more going on than this, that they are being protected by the government, and that they seem to have all this power to cover things up, to be able to meet the pope, to be able to sue anybody,and to be able to ruin the life of the police inspector and stop his book being published in english. ( I have a copy of it in Hungarian) All I know is that there are too many holes in their story, and I too wonder how a couple of doctors were able to get so much attention after the loss of their daughter, when there are at least four other children that have been taken, and nobody is reporting on them or sending money and involving the F.B.I. and the UK's special police. Some people also question a pedo thing going on, because another british couple who were on holiday with the McCann's (and are also MD's) told the police that the year before they heard one of Gerry's friends David, talk in a sexual way about Maddie to Gerry. This friend David was with them when Maddie went missing. The thing I really don't like and makes no sense to me, is that Kate washed Maddie's toy. That is the last thing a mother would do, you would want to hang on to her scent for as long as possible.
The sketch starts saying that Praia da Luz was the place where Madeleine was abducted... What happened with Madeleine is not yet known and the police was investigating 2 possibilities, either abduction or negligence from the parents that led to her death. The Portuguese police is known to be one of the better around the world and for me is quite disturbing that from UK it was tried to investigate the case as well. At about 26m40s - "there had been a fourfold increase in burglaries in the vicinity from January up to the time Madeleine disappeared (May)." Also "Three weeks prior to Madeleines disappearance two incidents took place in the very block the McCanns were staying. In both the windows were used to gain access". So the Portuguese police knew about these events but kept quiet about it. Furthermore tourists weren't warned. I wonder why ? Not only that but the first and only thing Amaral the detective in charge does, is investigate the McCanns ? Also, lets not forget the Hotel Management must have known about the break ins, but they didn't warn the guests. They knew the McCanns were leaving their children unattended for some of the time, because the McCanns told them - and they still didn't warn them. There's far more to this than just putting all the blame on the McCanns. If you had watched the video there was an explanation of why the British Police were involved. In 2011 the McCanns were so fed up with the bungling of the Portuguese police that they asked the UK Prime Minister (Cameron) for help in investigating the disappearance of Madeleine. He initiated Scotland Yard to start an investigation.

Most people do not leave their small children on their own in an unlocked (or locked) apartment. In fact most people lock their doors when they go out to protect their valuables. The Portuguese police investigated the abduction claim for the first three months and got nowhere. Goncalo Amaral and the rest of the police soon became suspicious of the McCanns & their friends and with good reason, their stories changed so often. It was actually the British police who first suggested the McCanns could be involved in their daughter's disappearance. The case was archived in Portugal because of the non co-operation of the McCanns and their friends, the Tapas 7. Despite the lifting of the arguido status the McCanns have never been cleared and this was pointed out by the Supreme court when they lost their libel action against Amaral in 2017. The British review/investigation of the cold case started in 2011 and has got nowhere because their remit was for abduction only (even though there is no evidence Madeleine was abducted). The remit for Operation Grange was so narrow it simply left out the prime suspects, Kate, Gerry & the Tapas 7.

An abductor could walk in through the unlocked patio doors, pick up the child and walk out again, leaving no evidence of the entry or abduction, apart from the missing child. On the other hand if Madeleine had died in the apartment (and left blood traces as suggested by the McCann critics) then forensic evidence would have confirmed it. But no forensic evidence was found to suggest Madeleine died in the apartment. The official reason for the case being archived was because of lack of evidence, not because of non-cooperation of the McCanns, as you wrongly suggested. The McCanns do not need to be cleared because they have never been charged, prosecuted or convicted of anything in this case. Ironically, the Supreme Court gave the libel action verdict to the detective Goncarlo Amaral, who the day after Madeleine disappeared was suspected of falsifying evidence in another case. In May 2009, Amaral received an 18 months suspended sentence for perjury in that case. Those who were naive enough to believe the contents of Amaral's books, were relying on the opinion of someone with a criminal record for falsifying evidence. In April this year, the Portuguese Police authorities completely undermined everything Amaral has said or written about the Madeleine case, by declaring Christian Brueckner as their one and only suspect in the case.
Think people, what gives their story away. 1: They claimed the DNA found in their rental car was body wast from the twins. Have you ever heard of any body who would remove a spare tyre, to store shit, or piss of a child, sorry for being so blunt. They knew Maddie wasn't in the car so had to think of the most likely scenario that DNA would be in the car.The DNA turned out to be inconclusive anyway.The waste removal in Portugal is less frequent than Britain so bags carrying soiled nappys...etc were transported in the car. The kidnapper would not necessarily know Maddie had a mark. There is no evidence they were drugged.Kids can sleep through noise quite easily,such as parents placing Xmas stockings on their beds.Children are often carried between cars,or from couches to bed without waking up.
Other parents present at the tapas bar left their children alone and went to check them every half hour. kate McCann did report she thought the twins were drugged and asked for them to be tested but the Portugese police ignored her. Children are abducted all the time, distinctive marks or not, even the children of cops and police chiefs. If taken by a pedophile they wont live long enough to be seen by anyone - they are usually dead within 2 hours of the abduction. Drugs have indeed been used in the abduction of children to keep them quiet. In the case of Jon Benet Ramsey she was tasered to keep her under control while being removed from her bedroom. And as to what was found in the car hired weeks after Maddies abduction, I wouldnt take too seriously anything that came from the media, or the Portugese police either. And the McCanns were not the only family who left their children alone every night while they all ate at that restaurant. And it is entirely possible that all the sightings of a man carrying a child were red herrings. It is more likely that a car was driven ton the carpark at the back where the childrens room was and Maddy taken out to a car and driven away within seconds, and nobody saw.
I still believe to this day that the parents are responsible for there daughters dissaperance. Two doctors don't have the combined intelligence to know that you never leave three children aged 3 and under alone, especially in a foreign country and in a hotel. Also the fact that they give their children sedatives to make them sleep is also horrible. I watched so many documentary on this case and researched so much and the only conclusion I can come to is that her parents killed her by accident/or on purpose and hide the body away so she will never be found again. The reason for this is because when they bought the police dogs they sniffed blood in the room and in the family car which they probably used to move the body. Later, with no evidence of a break in or damage to or tampering with shutters or window, they said they must have left the patio door unlocked. -Gerry had replaced a faulty fridge in 5a which the owner said was working Perfectly fine when he let the Villa. He disposed of a broken fridge at a dump, then replaced it? Who would go out and pay for a new fridge in a holiday rental? I think Christian Brueckner is the most likely candidate to date! A convicted sex offender and paedophile who lived 1 mile from the apartment, who was in the vicinity of apartment 5A on the evening of the disappearance - triangulation has proven this! And someone who had nearly a whole week to observe the family’s movements so that they could plan when to pounce! Kate and Gerry made a very silly, irresponsible decision, but they don’t deserve this, and I believe they are completely innocent!

I cant believe Madeleine asked her mum and dad "where were you when shaun and I cried last night" and her Mum said "it was one of those questions that throws you" It threw you because you knew it is wrong and you didn't have an answer for it, and yet they still left alone them the next night. I would have been mortified to know that my daughter was crying for me and I wasn't there for her. (not that I would have left the kids in the first place). The kids would have been with me and my bride at the restaurant even if they were very tired. The twins could sleep in the pram and we would have made a little bed out of chairs for madeleine and put some blankets or coats for her to lie on. or bring food back to the apartment. You never leave children on their own, there could have been a fire, one of them could have fell out of bed, been crying for me and scared on their own or worst case scenario been abducted. The Mccanns were so irresponsible for leaving 3 kids under 4 alone even if its just for half an hour, anything can happen in half an hour. I've never heard them admit that.

The man that Jane Tanner sighted was moving away from the McCann apartment and toward the creche at 21.15 hrs. So we have had the Portuguese Police dismissing a man who suspiciously was moving away from the McCann apartment and towards a creche at a time when he was unlikely to be dropping off a sleeping child. *And* now we have the UK Police who are dismissing a sighting of a man who was walking in the correct direction for an abduction, but in the wrong direction for picking up a child from the creche. He was, after all, seen carrying a sleeping child in his arms. There is also nothing "uncannily" similar" (22:38) between the man they have identified and the sketch of the Tanner's sighting. We have 3 similarities, 1) He is a man, 2) he has black hair (different style), 3) is the same height - that is, if you take the trouble to normalise the heights of the man in the sketch and of the man in the photograph. Or are we to believe the original sketch was "full sized"? Jane Tanner originally gave a height of 1m70cm, the man in the photograph seems much taller. All his clothes are different. Uncannily similarity (22:44) between the pyjamas Madeleine was supposed to be wearing when she went missing and the pyjamas shown here, is also a bit of a stretch. The photographed pyjamas are absent the frills made so much of. Jane Tanner was up to 50 metres away from the man and was below his level looking up a hill. She also said there was no blanket. The Tanner sighting was always dubious because so much work went into working it up. What started as a hairy egg eventually became that lovely pastel sketch. It seems Jane Tanner was trying to wring her brain to be helpful. How they can put so much faith in a decision to exclude Tanner's man is hard to see. We even had another man carrying a sleeping child in another location in Luz only 45 minutes later. How it wouldn't occur to any cop to consider the contingency that Tanner's sighting had nothing to do with the case is silly. Still, it's nice to have a story for the TV. I wonder how the investigation went for the e-fit men (they seem like 2 different men to me) and all those blonde men, charity collectors and other loiterers. Did anyone hear?
It seems to me that there may have been someone hiding in the apartment when Gerry went to check? He noticed that the door was open more which is highly suspicious. Additionally, the member of the party who 'checked' after him didn't check properly so Madeline could have already been taken before this point (in the period 9.05 after Gerry checked- 9.30). I think they should focus their attention more on this earlier timepoint.

IDK i had three children under 4 at the time she went missing and i ask myself in all honesty would i have left her in that apartment and the answer would have been no way. Foreign country and so young, doors unlocked? Beach nearby, pool,too many strangers/not in their own beds? wander off? Fires/burglars? All my parental instincts would be raging/full anxiety mode. i had the stress of dining on holiday with my 3 running around my ankles. Maybe being doctors they are very rational and do the maths but anything can happen in a heartbeat with very small children, we all know that, my child vomited with blood from a nosebleed in her own bed and if i wasn't there?. I can be honest and say it wasn't there direct fault but there routines/actions lack of forward thinking/perceiving danger lead to the result. Under 5's even when asleep need someone there with them at all times because they can't communicate any dangers to you. Doctors have a high IQ but no common sense sometimes.

In fact there are two independent witnesses, Tapas workers, Starikova Vitorino and Joaquim Jose Moreira Batista, who tell a different story from Kate and the Tapas 7 Gerry could have been missing for 30 minutes round about this time. Their statements are in the PJ files and can be read online.

Mine did it every night in holiday. Left me and my sister in the hotel room whilst they went to the hotels restaurant and checked in on us every 20 mins. The hotel offered baby listening services so it can't have been a practice that was uncommon or frowned against.

it seems that all these parents left their children alone, while they went out to eat. I am a nanny, if I had done this I would have been throne into jail. because these parents were doctors they were not. They could and should have hired a nanny but they did not want to pay. They could have left the children at the night creche. I would never leave a child alone never! they could wake up feel scared, they could have a medical emergency, there could be a fire. While I feel awful that this happened and I hope they find Madeleine, this could have been prevented.
Yes, they were MUCH too young to leave alone. The very idea they even considered doing this is worrisome. Worse yet, why were the twins not taken away from them after this? At the very least they are neglectful parents who can't even take responsibility and say they did wrong by leaving them alone like this.

the efit of the man carrying a child is no mystery it was actually a tourist attending to their own child of course we all would have known that earlier if the original investigators weren't incompetent and actually communicated with each other. you see the man in the efit contacted police very early in the investigation. personally i think maddie was taken because she wasn't the first or the last child to go missing from that resort and the surrounding area. just because they may be years apart it doesn't mean that it is just a coincidence. the mccanns may be suspicious but the resort is equally suspect in my opinion and not a safe place for anybody.

If you think she was abducted why were there hairs with no root, not DNA testable, as root is required & "body fluids, showing evidence they'd been frozen" (exact words the Police used) in the car boot. The car was hired 3weeks later & had done 3times more miles than 1trip to a nearby town to leaflet & 2 airport runs, 1 for Gerrys UK day trip & 1 for their Pope visit . The fluid matched DNA wise by 14 out of 19markers. Most countries accept 14 as a match. The UK however require 15 as a 'match.
And why did a blood dog & a cadaver dog alert to blood & corpse odour behind the sofa, in the wardrobe , on Kates clothes, at cuddle cat & in the car boot. A corpse has to be dead approx 1.5 hours before it emits odour detectable to flies, insects & other animals. Records were checked, no - one had ever died in that apartment. So whose corpse odour was it the dog alerted too....? And why did the car 'stink' so badly the boot was left open every night for a week, according to witnesses who'd travelled in it & were staying with the couple. Dirty nappies & leaking supermarket meat (Mcann explanation) would not make a cadaver dog alert, they're trained to only get a toy if they successfully detect corpse traces. Anything else they alert to is not rewarded & they'd fail training if repeating mistaken alerts. The dog search video is online as are the statements & crime scene video BTW.
Add to that, they lied the window was forced. The only fingerprints, on the inside not the outside, were Kates. They changed their story the flat was locked. They refused to supply her medical records. They refused to supply their financial records. They refused to follow advice that showing her eye defect would make an abductor realise she was too recognisable & so kill her & published a huge, enlarged close up clearly showing her eye defect. They stated no hairbrush or toothbrush was available for DNA as she 'shared her toothbrush with Amelie' , (seriously, 2 Drs & hygiene issue of sharing toothbrush is fine)? And Gerry returned to UK for DNA & came back with a pillowcase not a hairbrush with rooted hair that could be tested & would show if she was ever sedated (sleep chart on wall at home, she had form for waking & wandering).
They deleted 13 calls & texts to each other made that night. Kate refused to answer 48questions put to her. Kate refused a free UK lie detector test after asking for the questions up front (not procedure, time to rehearse?). The Priest who gave them church keys has told friends "I was deceived" but won't elaborate. The first Embassy rep left, citing in writing "grave concerns re their changing story & possible guilt". They say she's alive but never once express concern how she might be being treated. Her pink bkankie seen in crime scene pics went missing. A large black sports bag was missing from the apartment. Gerry lied a 10rh June call to Russell "using suspicious wording" was local. It was traced to an empty barn 28miles away. Stained beach towel found there tested inconclusive for DNA. None of the time lines or accounts of her last day tally. At all.

Instead of protecting your other children in case intruder is still around (May have delivered child to car and be back for second child) you leave them and run to Tapas bar instead of shouting from balcony. Anyone really believing this would have had their parents on the next plane in to take their remaining children back to the UK while they searched high and low themselves. It's so obvious the mccanns had something to do with their daughters death whether it was intentional or not. For me it's simple. You don't under any circumstance, leave your child who looks pale and washed, who tells you they were crying all night looking for where you were that night. It was not a one of where they left their child, it was consistent. This is in a foreign country. Your apartment is right at the edge of the building. These things shouldve been taken into considerations.

They are exceptionally good at detecting the olfactory signature of decomposition and its difficult to explain why a cadaver dog should give so many false alerts in the apartment and car. D'Andre Lane and David Gilroy are in prison mainly due to these dogs.

I have seen a video on here, a fact based one, called The true story of MM Buried by mainstream media, it is a four part one. I am shocked by what I see. I feel so badly for those children. Every time I have heard an interview they say something different concerning the events. That makes NO sense. Were they drunk or are they making stuff up. The door closing with the wind - that was added later and she also changed the story to knowing right away someone took Maddie when the curtains went "woosh" but, later on in another video she says she went to check if Maddie was in her room then came back and saw the curtains go "whoosh." Why the changes?

Tuesday Prichard yes, that is what I don't like, the story keeps changing. I live in America, and quite a few Americans say the British public are being fooled. That is it a sure thing that the parents drugged their kids, that maddie died, and they made up this whole story to protect themselves because they knew that they would not be able to work again with a neglect charge/accidental death charge over them. Some think that there is more going on than this, that they are being protected by the government, and that they seem to have all this power to cover things up, to be able to meet the pope, to be able to sue anybody,and to be able to ruin the life of the police inspector and stop his book being published in english. ( I have a copy of it in Hungarian)
All I know is that there are too many holes in their story, and I too wonder how a couple of doctors were able to get so much attention after the loss of their daughter, when there are at least four other children that have been taken, and nobody is reporting on them or sending money and involving the F.B.I. and the UK's special police.
Some people also question a pedo thing going on, because another british couple who were on holiday with the McCann's (and are also MD's) told the police that the year before they heard one of Gerry's friends David, talk in a sexual way about Maddie to Gerry. This friend David was with them when Maddie went missing.
The thing I really don't like and makes no sense to me, is that Kate washed Maddie's toy. That is the last thing a mother would do, you would want to hang on to her scent for as long as possible.

The sketch starts saying that Praia da Luz was the place where Madeleine
was abducted... What happened with Madeleine is not yet known and the
police was investigating 2 possibilities, either abduction or negligence
from the parents that led to her death. The Portuguese police is known
to be one of the better around the world and for me is quite disturbing
that from UK it was tried to investigate the case as well. I mean, when a
Portuguese fellow is found death or disappear in UK I am not expecting
the Portuguese police to interfere...
Portuguese police - one of the better all round the world ? You must be joking ! Did you not watch the video. At about 26m40s - "there had been a fourfold increase in burglaries in the vicinity from January up to the time Madeleine disappeared (May)." Also "Three weeks prior to Madeleines disappearance two incidents took place in the very block the McCanns were staying. In both the windows were used to gain access". So the Portuguese police knew about these events but kept quiet about it. Furthermore tourists weren't warned. I wonder why ?
Not only that but the first and only thing Amaral the detective in charge does, is investigate the McCanns ? Also, lets not forget the Hotel Management must have known about the break ins, but they didn't warn the guests. They knew the McCanns were leaving their children unattended for some of the time, because the McCanns told them - and they still didn't warn them. There's far more to this than just putting all the blame on the McCanns. If you had watched the video there was an explanation of why the British Police were involved. In 2011 the McCanns were so fed up with the bungling of the Portuguese police that they asked the UK Prime Minister (Cameron) for help in investigating the disappearance of Madeleine.

@@ZaphodBeeb1 There was no break in to the McCann's apartment and there is no evidence that burglaries in Luz are more prevalent than anywhere else in Europe. Most people do not leave their small children on their own in an unlocked (or locked) apartment. In fact most people lock their doors when they go out to protect their valuables.
The Portuguese police investigated the abduction claim for the first three months and got nowhere. Goncalo Amaral and the rest of the police soon became suspicious of the McCanns & their friends and with good reason, their stories changed so often. It was actually the British police who first suggested the McCanns could be involved in their daughter's disappearance.
The case was archived in Portugal because of the non co-operation of the McCanns and their friends, the Tapas 7. Despite the lifting of the arguido status the McCanns have never been cleared and this was pointed out by the Supreme court when they lost their libel action against Amaral in 2017.
The British review/investigation of the cold case started in 2011 and has got nowhere because their remit was for abduction only (even though there is no evidence Madeleine was abducted). The remit for Operation Grange was so narrow it simply left out the prime suspects, Kate, Gerry & the Tapas 7.
@@ruthbashford3176 There was no break-in to the McCanns apartment, because it was not necessary to break in. An abductor could walk in through the unlocked patio doors, pick up the child and walk out again, leaving no evidence of the entry or abduction, apart from the missing child. On the other hand if Madeleine had died in the apartment (and left blood traces as suggested by the McCann critics) then forensic evidence would have confirmed it. But no forensic evidence was found to suggest Madeleine died in the apartment. The official reason for the case being archived was because of lack of evidence, not because of non-cooperation of the McCanns, as you wrongly suggested.
The McCanns do not need to be cleared because they have never been charged, prosecuted or convicted of anything in this case. Ironically, the Supreme Court gave the libel action verdict to the detective Goncarlo Amaral, who the day after Madeleine disappeared was suspected of falsifying evidence in another case. In May 2009, Amaral received an 18 months suspended sentence for perjury in that case. Those who were naive enough to believe the contents of Amaral's books, were relying on the opinion of someone with a criminal record for falsifying evidence.
In April this year, the Portuguese Police authorities completely undermined everything Amaral has said or written about the Madeleine case, by declaring Christian Brueckner as their one and only suspect in the case.

Think people, what gives their story away. 1: They claimed the DNA found in their rental car was body wast from the twins. Have you ever heard of any body who would remove a spare tyre, to store shit, or piss of a child, sorry for being so blunt. Who in their right mind would kidnapp a child with a distinctive mark? 3: Who would leave their children alone in a Hotel in a foreign country, not one but 3, all it take is one to cry and wake the other two, why could they not cry and wake each other because they were drugged. If you have ever had an operation it hard to come round, how would anybody else know their childen was drugged. Why would anybody want to wonder off in the night with a child they never knew was dead. What would you do if you were a 3 year old who woke up in the night to find yourself being carried away by a stranger, You would scream your head off, as a result wak the other 2. THe MCCanns sory is a fantasy, and the police knows it, and so do I.
They knew Maddie wasn't in the car so had to think of the most likely scenario that DNA would be in the car.The DNA turned out to be inconclusive anyway.The waste removal in Portugal is less frequent than Britain so bags carrying soiled nappys...etc were transported in the car.
The kidnapper would not necessarily know Maddie had a mark.
There is no evidence they were drugged.Kids can sleep through noise quite easily,such as parents placing Xmas stockings on their beds.Children are often carried between cars,or from couches to bed without waking up.

Its quite common for abductors to drug their victims and possible witnesses before removing them
Children are abducted all the time, distinctive marks or not, even the children of cops and police chiefs. If taken by a pedophile they wont live long enough to be seen by anyone - they are usually dead within 2 hours of the abduction. Drugs have indeed been used in the abduction of children to keep them quiet. In the case of Jon Benet Ramsey she was tasered to keep her under control while being removed from her bedroom. And as to what was found in the car hired weeks after Maddies abduction, I wouldnt take too seriously anything that came from the media, or the Portugese police either. And the McCanns were not the only family who left their children alone every night while they all ate at that restaurant. And it is entirely possible that all the sightings of a man carrying a child were red herrings. It is more likely that a car was driven ton the carpark at the back where the childrens room was and Maddy taken out to a car and driven away within seconds, and nobody saw.

I still believe to this day that the parents are
responsible for there daughters dissaperance. Two doctors don't have the combined intelligence to know that you never leave three children aged 3 and under alone, especially in a foreign country and in a hotel. Also the fact that they give their children sedatives to make them sleep is also horrible. I watched so many documentary on this case and researched so much and the only conclusion I can come to is that her parents killed her by accident/or on purpose and hide the body away so she will never be found again. The reason for this is because when they bought the police dogs they sniffed blood in the room and in the family car which they probably used to move the body. Secondly when someone loses their baby girl in the middle of the night why would you stop looking for them and go to bed and fly out the next day a little suspicious if you ask me (if that was my child god forbid I wouldn't leave until I find them). what else is really wired is the family has made millions from selling books and travel the world on private jets a little fishy if you ask me. The only suspects are her parents.

- Kate and Gerry admitted they did not search for Madeleine when she went missing.

- They changed their accounts of what happened on the evening Madeleine went missing.
- They initially said the shutters had been jemmied open, broken and raised, the window open. Later, with no evidence of a break in or damage to or tampering
with shutters or window, they said they must have left the patio door unlocked.
-Gerry had replaced a faulty fridge in 5a which the owner said was working Perfectly fine when he let the Villa. He disposed of a broken fridge at a dump, then replaced it? Who would go out and pay for a new fridge in a holiday
rental? Surely that is something you would contact the rental agents about first. it would be the villa owner's responsibility then he deleted all mention of it from his blog and his supporters denied all knowledge of a broken fridge.
- Kate refused to answer 48 police questions, even though Gerry McCann told interviewer Jeremy Paxman, who mentioned the "media circus", that any parents would try to get as much info as possible into an investigation to find their missing child.
- The one police question Kate did answer was to acknowledge she understood that her failure to answer questions might jeopardise the investigation.
- Kate and Gerry refused to take part in a Portuguese police reconstruction.
- Gerry refused to comment when asked if he knew fellow suspect Robert Murat

Leicestershire police to express concerns that David Payne had jokingly made sexual comments and gestures about Madeleine to Gerry. Leicestershire police failed to pass the statements on to the Portuguese for 6 months- after lead detective Amaral, convinced of the McCanns' guilt, had been taken off the case.
- They lost their libel case against Amaral, over his book The Truth of the Lie, and his assertions of his belief in their guilt, based on various evidence.
- 2 reliable British-trained dogs, with expert handler, alerted to blood and cadaver scent in the McCanns' apartment, possessions, clothes and hire car.
- Kate explained the cadaver scent on her clothes as due to her work as a doctor.
- The McCanns left the hire car doors and boot open,explained that the dog's cadaver scent marking was due to the smell of rotting meat in the boot, also to dirty nappies.
-Also, just before the apartment got searched again, her parents had bleached her favourite teddy bear. This could have been a key piece of evidence. Its a teddy, there was no need to
bleach it, especially not just before another search.
- When asked much later which possible sightings of Madeleine had interested them, Gerry could not think of any and Kate finally mentioned one in Amsterdam.
- They then redirected the issue back to Jane
Tanner's supposed and convenient sighting of a possible abductor on the evening of Madeleine's disappearance.
- When on another occasion they were asked about their emotions when a possible sighting was mentioned, Gerry smirked.
- Gerry was filmed laughing on a balcony a few days after Madeleine disappeared.
- In various interviews Kate and Gerry showed a lot of concern over being believed, their own reputations, reinforcing the narrative of an abduction, but little over what was happening now to (supposedly abducted) Madeleine.
-Expert statement analyst Peter Hyatt said he was certain Kate and Gerry were lying in interview.
- Despite public disquiet over their veracity, the
McCanns have refused to take a lie detector test.
- Various statements of the McCanns and their friends changed and were contradictory.
- Jane Tanner's initially vague account of the possible abductor changed and became more detailed. Initially, she said she did not see his face, then claimed it was Robert Murat, but retracted that, and much later said that he had scruffy long hair and moustache, to fit another alleged suspect (who looked very different from Murat).
- 3 of the McCanns' friends said they saw Robert Murat in the area of the McCanns' apartment the evening Madeleine disappeared. Other people who knew him did not. They later admitted they may have
been mistaken.
- The police interview statement of David Payne confirming he saw Madeleine alive before they went out for drinks was riddled with hesitancy and contradictions compared with what Gerry and Kate said.
- The Madeleine fund has not been a charity, nor totally committed to finding her.
- A huge amount of time and money has been spent on lawyers and suing critics of the McCanns that might have been spent instead on finding Madeleine.
- A huge amount has been spent on criminal and incompetent private detectives with bogus stories and leads. Year after year there have been new prime suspects publicised by the media, and police wild goose chases, diversions from the truth, and often promoted by the McCanns and their publicist/media

There are way too many "Scooby Doo-esque" oddities around the whole thing. I've studied body language and theirs is all over the place when they are questioned about it, particularly Gerry's. its obvious the parents were involved. the parents never shed a tear! they always talked about her in past tense too.
There is no evidence they gave their children sedatives. And they didn’t just go to bed the night she disappeared - they were up all night, and they didn’t fly home the next day - they stayed in Portugal for quite some time. But eventually they needed to come home - they had two other children to think about who needed to get back to a normal life, and nursery, and school etc some of these ‘facts’ you’ve stated are just wrong! I think Christian Brueckner is the most likely candidate to date! A convicted sex offender and paedophile who lived 1 mile from the apartment, who was in the vicinity of apartment 5A on the evening of the disappearance - triangulation has proven this! And someone who had nearly a whole week to observe the family’s movements so that they could plan when to pounce! Kate and Gerry made a very silly, irresponsible decision, but they don’t deserve this, and I believe they are completely innocent!

These are two crafty killers, and now they have had time to plan their story. What should have occured, they should have been seperated, arrested, and do the job of a police investigation. Its simple, say one admitted to it the other would have spilt the beans by now. Claim one has confessed, the other would have confessed also. This case could have been closed years ago.

So the McCanns took note when Madeleine asked "where were you last night" ---- but they left her alone again, the next night? Despite knowing she was waking up at night, in an apartment she wasn't used to, and with the door unlocked --- they still left her, and the twins alone? Un-farcking-believable!! But, I think with that, they've also gave us an important clue --- Madeleine woke up that night too, and went out the door, looking for them. Then possibly walked into the car park/road, straight in front of an oncoming vehicle --- the driver panicked, and got rid of her body. Or, she walked straight into the arms of an unsavoury character. Those two are the most likely scenarios imho.
I cant believe Madeleine asked her mum and dad "where were you when shaun and I cried last night" and her Mum said "it was one of those questions that throws you" It threw you because you knew it is wrong and you didn't have an answer for it, and yet they still left alone them the next night. I would have been mortified to know that my daughter was crying for me and I wasn't there for her. (not that I would have left the kids in the first place). The kids would have been with me and my bride at the restaurant even if they were very tired. The twins could sleep in the pram and we would have made a little bed out of chairs for madeleine and put some blankets or coats for her to lie on. or bring food back to the apartment. You never leave children on their own, there could have been a fire, one of them could have fell out of bed, been crying for me and scared on their own or worst case scenario been abducted. The Mccanns were so irresponsible for leaving 3 kids under 4 alone even if its just for half an hour, anything can happen in half an hour. I've never heard them admit that.
I cannot imagine how awful this must be for the McCann family. Even knowing whether or not she is still alive would be preferable. But knowing nothing... awful, so awful. I still hope that this can have a happy ending; despite the years which have passed. It must be grief beyond comprehension. x

The man that Jane Tanner sighted was moving away from the McCann apartment and toward the creche at 21.15 hrs.
So we have had the Portuguese Police dismissing a man who suspiciously was moving away from the McCann apartment and towards a creche at a time when he was unlikely to be dropping off a sleeping child.

now we have the UK Police who are dismissing a sighting of a man who was walking in the correct direction for an abduction, but in the wrong direction for picking up a child from the creche. He was, after all, seen carrying a sleeping child in his arms.
There is also nothing "uncannily" similar" (22:38) between the man they have identified and the sketch of the Tanner's sighting. We have 3 similarities, 1) He is a man, 2) he has black hair (different style), 3) is the same height - that is, if you take the trouble to normalise the heights of the man in the sketch and of the man in the photograph. Or are we to believe the original sketch was "full sized"? Jane Tanner originally gave a height of 1m70cm, the man in the photograph seems much taller. All his clothes are different.
Uncannily similarity (22:44) between the pyjamas Madeleine was supposed to be wearing when she went missing and the pyjamas shown here, is also a bit of a stretch. The photographed pyjamas are absent the frills made so much of. Jane Tanner was up to 50 metres away from the man and was below his level looking up a hill. She also said there was no blanket.
The Tanner sighting was always dubious because so much work went into working it up. What started as a hairy egg eventually became that lovely pastel sketch. It seems Jane Tanner was trying to wring her brain to be helpful. How they can put so much faith in a decision to exclude Tanner's man is hard to see.
We even had another man carrying a sleeping child in another location in Luz only 45 minutes later. How it wouldn't occur to any cop to consider the contingency that Tanner's sighting had nothing to do with the case is silly. Still, it's nice to have a story for the TV.
I wonder how the investigation went for the e-fit men (they seem like 2 different men to me) and all those blonde men, charity collectors and other loiterers. Did anyone hear?

It seems to me that there may have been someone hiding in the apartment when Gerry went to check? He noticed that the door was open more which is highly suspicious. Additionally, the member of the party who 'checked' after him didn't check properly so Madeline could have already been taken before this point (in the period 9.05 after Gerry checked- 9.30). I think they should focus their attention more on this earlier timepoint.

IDK i had three children under 4 at the time she went missing and i ask myself in all honesty would i have left her in that apartment and the answer would have been no way. Foreign country and so young, doors unlocked? Beach nearby, pool,too many strangers/not in their own beds? wander off? Fires/burglars? All my parental instincts would be raging/full anxiety mode. i had the stress of dining on holiday with my 3 running around my ankles. Maybe being doctors they are very rational and do the maths but anything can happen in a heartbeat with very small children, we all know that, my child vomited with blood from a nosebleed in her own bed and if i wasn't there?. I can be honest and say it wasn't there direct fault but there routines/actions lack of forward thinking/perceiving danger lead to the result. Under 5's even when asleep need someone there with them at all times because they can't communicate any dangers to you. Doctors have a high IQ but no common sense sometimes.
